The Welsh Cookery School

About The Welsh Cookery School

The Welsh Cookery School offers a range of cookery holidays, artisan food trails and courses at various locations.

The Welsh Cookery School Description

The Welsh Cookery School is a “moveable feast”, hosted at artisan locations and some of the great historic houses and gardens of Wales.

Welcome to a culinary adventure with the new Welsh Cookery School of Artisan Foods. This is a new concept, an introduction to the fine food traditions of Wales: craft bakers, cheese makers, brewers, fishermen, chefs, butchers – even the salt producer!

Much has been said recently of the “lost generations” – those who never had the benefit of basic food education, and grew into adults whose idea of food has been hijacked and dominated by the food industry. Thankfully, a fight back is well and truly underway. “Artisan food”, “slow food”, or simply “real food”, no matter how one names it the great thing is that it’s asserting itself against industrial food!

The Welsh Cookery School courses and events will be held at various locations around West Wales. Offering small group, hands-on cooking classes with large demonstration and dining facilities.

Founder and school director Margaret Rees has a long career with food in all its guises. She is an award winning chef whose restaurant The Cobblers at Llandybie won the Sunday Times Taste of Britain Award for Wales. Margaret is a founder member of the Slow Food Movement in the UK; a member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals; a published author and television cookery presenter. Travelling “with food in mind” she has developed a network of local and international food associates who will contribute professional expertise.

What makes the Welsh School of Artisan Food unique is its range. Whether you’re an independent traveller looking for a one day bespoke cooking course, or a catering professional looking to develop a new food tourism business, we’re here to help you plan your journey into the brand-new world of old-fashioned food.
