About Theatr Brycheiniog

Brecon's centre for the arts and entertainment.

Theatr Brycheiniog Description

Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecon’s Centre for the Arts opened in April 1997, as the first wholly funded Lottery new build arts organisation in the UK. The Arts Centre is probably situated in one of the most picturesque locations of any venue in the UK. Built alongside the canal basin in the heart of Brecon, serving the town and surrounding areas of Powys, Monmouthshire and beyond, it is rooted firmly in the community it serves. The venue currently provides a varied programme of theatre, dance, music and entertainment in its purpose built 477 seat auditorium and 120-seat studio /rehearsal space. It also hosts an exhibition programme in the Gallery.

The Arts Centre serves not only its community through an outstanding programme of quality professional English and Welsh language productions. It is home to the Brecon Baroque Festival and Brecon Jazz: Futures, which both attract audiences and visitors nationally and internationally. The Gallery exhibits local, national and international artists, with spaces for hire for community and commercial use and our Waterfront Bar serves a varied Taste of Wales menu, of locally sourced and produced snacks.

Theatr Brycheiniog is funded by the Arts Council of Wales, Powys County Council and Brecon Town Council.

We are so unbelievably honoured to have Simon Weston CBE here at Theatr Brycheiniog on Wed 17th July.
Simon Weston is a truly remarkable man who despite all he has suffered has emerged as one of these countries most inspirational people. His story has highs and lows, laughter and tears and on that journey he has subsequently met Royalty, the pilot who dropped the bomb and even Harry Patch the last survivor of WW1.
The show will come delivered with footage from the conflict an...d will include a Q & A session.

Do you want to see the funniest family show at the Fringe? Look no further!
All the way from Australia, Chores tells the story of two brothers who don't want to do their chores and tidy their room.
A storyline we can all relate to, kids go crazy for the acrobatics, juggling, major flips, acrobalance and cheeky humour.... Suitable for the whole family, the performance is jam-packed with silly jokes and plenty to amuse the teens and adults in the audience too!

An opera? About a kebab van? With comedy?
The Welsh National Opera are bringing this brilliant production to Theatr Brycheiniog on Saturday 6th July.
Get a 'taste' of what the show is about (see what we did there?) in this great review from Buzz Magazine.
... We still have tickets available so why not give our Box Office a call on 01874 611622.

NEW SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT Dillie Keane: Songs Of Love and Other Bad Ideas, Thur 12 Sep, 7.30pm
After some gardening leave, Dillie is back where she belongs - on a cabaret stage, accompanied by the marvellous Michael Roulston. Her take on life and love is cheerfully sour, gently savage and peculiarly mordant - but the beautiful music softens the effect. She freely admits she has a voice like a dying crow being crushed beneath an angry sheep, but that’s never stopped her!
