The Mayor of Himeji (representing Himeji, Hyogo ūüáĮūüáĶ) enjoyed his first stop in North Wales today as he visited the Pontcysyllte Chapel Tearoom and conquered his fear of heights by taking in the views on the 126ft tall Pontcysyllte Aqueduct! He was greeted by the Deputy Mayor of Wrexham who offered a warm welcome - despite the rain!

Chirk Castle is open weekends only through November. On weekends the garden, Adam Tower, Dungeon, Shop and cafe are all open 10am to 4pm. The inside rooms of the castle are closed. Half-price admission applies due to reduced opening. On weekends they have a limited number of 'Chirk Castle Uncovered' tours running each day, so you can see spaces not normally open to visitors during the main season. Get your timed ticket for the tours on the day. The castle is open again for Christmas from 30 November.

A youngster from Llangollen has had an extract from a poem she wrote projected on to the front of an iconic canal bridge as part of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site luminaire celebration. Megan Mascarenhas, age 11 years, and a pupil at Dinas Bran, Llangollen entered the poetry competition organised by Canal & River Trust in Wales earlier this year, to mark ten years since the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal was inscribed as a World Heritage Site.
