Three Pools (Permaculture Farm)

About Three Pools (Permaculture Farm)

OVERVIEW: The current agricultural system is not fit for the 21st century; it will not be able to continue providing food into the future. Meanwhile it harms the land, air and water, lets down the people who work within it and has to be propped up by agricultural subsidies. We have secured a 141 acre site in Monmouthshire on which we intend to lead by example on how to redesign the UK's approach to agriculture. OBJECTIVES: 1. To work with academics to fill the evidence gap on sustainable farming2. To use our site to boost the profile of permaculture and biodynamic farming within the UK. 3. Through achieving a successful business model, with successful, high-quality yields, prove to the wider farming community the value of converting to sustainable farming practices. METHOD: The farm business will fully diverse; food production will be combined with tourism and events to both fund and increase awareness of permaculture and biodynamic techniques. Our team, aged in our mid-twenties, have the passion, marketing and media skills to connect the ideas of sustainable farming with wider society while achieving a good return on our products. The land itself is well suited to the plan; already located on the site are two unique species of pear, a maturing heritage apple orchard and a natural spring system. With the Black Mountains to the west and the Forest of Dean to the east, the area is already ripe for tourism linked farming. COLLABORATION: We are looking for individuals and organisations whose agenda is also to research and promote sustainable farming. Working in a mutually beneficial manner, we want to show that these practices should be mainstream. For more information please call us on 01873821517
