Whilst the nursing staff were lovely and often went beyond the call of duty, sadly the same could not be said for the doctors at this hospital.

At the beginning, they were unwilling to treat the patient concerned. It was only after protesting vastly and threatening legal action that they started to pursue treatment options.

At one point, when we were getting nowhere with the doctors, we were suggesting various treatment options to them as by that time, we as a family had spent hours researching everything to do with the medical condition for our family member. Once they knew that we weren't prepared to be taken for a ride, they were more willing and forthcoming with their help and dedication.

The family member made progress due to the dedication of their other half who stayed by the bedside 24/7 and assisted with feeding and helping. However, when the patient was moved to a communal ward, that was when their health declined rapidly as there was no-one to ensure that the patient was eating regularly. Once the partner was eventually allowed to remain in hospital by the bedside, it was too late.

When the patient was going downhill, the doctor even told us that should the patient get another infection, it would NOT be treated. We thought that it was disgusting. In the end, the patient and a very close family member passed away. Whilst I accept that the person was gravely ill, I feel that the hospital had some influence to her demise as multiple members of the family, myself included, felt that the hospital simply "washed their hands" of her and on many occasions, simply acted like they were not interested and only looking after because we were making them. I would have more confidence with the English NHS than the NHS in this hospital.

Rapid expansion program underway.
More and more departments being added.
Staff generally very helpful.
Never seen any cleanliness issues.
Lots of parking available but some is a 10 minute walk from the hospital itself. Should be fine with the closer car parks most of the time.

Watch where you park, how you park and how long you park for.
This hospital uses a rogue company called PARKING EYE, and they cannot wait to catch you out and slap you with a fine for anything between £50 and a £100
Morrison's supermarket use the same company PARKING EYE and they fined me three months ago, and despite reluctantly paying the fine on time I am still receiving further demands and threatening letters off them.BEWARE!

Been to the CAVOC department a few times over the years been under Dr Declan O'Derehty since I was little I have to say every time I have been there they have been very good. Got and operation there soon and to be fair i have no major concerns about it. However, trying to call the hospital is beyond get transferred to all different departments then getting hung up on while phone still rings.
