Urban Village Swansea Description
The Urban Village will be a vibrant environment with its own unique identity and a universal appeal at the centre of Swansea and South Wales.
Initiated through a £25 million scheme for the regeneration, redesign and rebuilding of the High Street and Strand Row areas of Wales' second city, the Urban Village is a vision of sustainable living and working - intimate, yet connected and cosmopolitan, strong on identity and character, but also modern and metropolitan. Coastal Housing Group, with architects Holder Mathias and contractors Mi-Space are completing this exciting project in four phases, culminating in the construction of 76 affordable apartments and Village's centrepiece, the Creative Hub.
Bringing together local, national and international industries and talents, the Creative Hub will encompass everything from bespoke craft and fashion design to digital arts, broadcast media, publishing and advertising. This cluster of talent will be housed in Wales' first ever space dedicated to these industries, providing a cutting edge community centred environment in which to work, socialise and shop. As well as central living and workspace, the Urban Village will feature a range of retail and leisure outlets designed to cater for every taste, while maintaining its unique environment. A series of new courtyard spaces will link shops, offices, cafes and bars with the Village apartments, providing a self contained centre for retail, leisure and business within sustainable and striking surroundings.
