Reminder we are CLOSED this weekend as the dog training human is putting down the dog lead and going sailing instead at the Europe Class Sailing National Championships in Weymouth. Support team is here too (Trevor the Staffie!)

I absolutely loved teaching our first Introduction to Rally Obedience Workshop last night. It was chilly and damp but everyone aced their first level one course and got a thorough understanding of all the behaviours expected in level one and two KC Rally Obedience. Well done Hero, Dougie, Seren, Drummer and Arthur!

Flooding. Is It Okay?
This is a subject that comes up a lot in the dog training world and causes a lot of debate. Some people swear by flooding, some people abhor it.
So what IS flooding? Put simply in the case of a fearful dog, plopping them into the middle of a ‘pack’ walk and punishing any reaction out of them or holding them so tight they have no choice could be considered flooding. Here’s the secret though. It often works (on the surface). You may see your dog with a l...

Today was one of my favourite days in a LONG time. Our Dog School met up with Andy's Woodland Walks and played hide and seek with 18 dogs in a huge expanse of wasteland covered in shrubs and bushes. I adore my Wednesday group especially as their personalities all complement each other to get the most out of each other and some absolutely gorgeous social behaviour is happening with my more nervous dogs as they find their feet. The fact we can play games like this with the dogs and have no worries and every single dog has the time of their life makes my heart sing 💛
Dog School runs all day on Wednesdays and Fridays and depending on your location we can collect and drop off. We currently have no space but are running a waiting list.

Hi all!
Apologies but this weekends classes are cancelled and rescheduled for next weekend. This includes Life Skills Basics and Scent Detection (standard and reactive). By way of apology there will be an extra session added for each of the courses so they will run for 7 weeks instead of the standard 6.
Likewise the Life Skills Basics waiting on graduation classes rescheduled because of inclement weather etc will have an extra long session when these are scheduled to catch ...you up on what you have missed thus far.
Thursday Cadets and Scent classes are running as normal.
As for myself, I am off to Weymouth to compete in the Europe Class National Championships this weekend after a last minute opportunity came up. Fingers crossed Im not last place!
Best wishes Kahla

This is why I now offer scent detection classes alongside my behavioural work. It benefits our ‘quirky’ dogs in so many ways https://fearfreehappyhomes.com/why-nose-w ork-is-scentsati…/…

CLASSES TOMORROW. please note we will be training in one of the outdoor fields rather than the indoor arena as the forecast is so warm ☀️ 💛

Scent detection ROCKS. Check out Honey the Labrador acing her first ever bag search on week three of classes tonight. I did some training with Trevor my Staffie when I got home from classes too (nerd alert 🤓). Check out his freeze indication letting me know he has found his target, a 5mm kong piece hidden just inside the detergent drawer of my washing machine.
It looks like our 15th June course may be sold out now but who wants another Thursday evening class added?
Also, info packs for this weekends Life Skills Basics are being sent out in the morning 💛

Meet beautiful Beebee! What breeds is she? There’s three in there!
