The final week of the beginners course! To celebrate your graduation we invite you to stay for the regular class after the beginner’s class for no extra cost, and join us for a drink and a chat at the Woodville afterwards.

This week has gone so fast I haven’t had a chance to make events for the classes but everything is running as usual ⚔️

Back to full on Meyer after our Friday Fabris diversion - the beginners were introduced to the Zwerch and the regular class worked on manipulating one’s opponent with the concept of Provoker - Taker - Hitter.

Slightly belated, but a very happy International Women’s day to you all from us at Virtus Cardiff! We had a fantastic session this evening taught by one of UK HEMA’s great women - Fran Terminiello.

We’re excited to announce our Friday session this week will be taught by Fran Terminiello of School of the Sword!
This one-off rapier class is open to all current students from the regular or beginners classes for the usual £7.

Great work from everyone tonight - the beginners course started out their exploration of the master strikes with a look at the Zornhau, while the regular/advanced class looked at blade beats and wrenching.

Extra classes!
It’s been a long time coming but we can now announce that as of the second week of February we’ll be running THREE classes a week.
Beginners Course -... Will run on Sundays, 5-7pm. The course will be running on a repeat of 8 weeks, primarily for those signed up for the course. Our beginners course is an introduction to Meyer’s longsword and on completion students will be able to join the regular Sunday/Friday classes.
Members of the regular class with their own kit who want to brush up on the topic being covered that week are welcome to drop in on an ad-hoc basis. (Own kit stipulation is because club kit will be being used by the beginners & please note that space priority goes to the beginners).

Sunday - Our 7-9 Sunday slot will continue as before, open to everyone who’s passed the beginners course or equivalent in private classes or training with another club. We’ll be continuing with our Meyer Longsword focus with occasional explorations into other weapons & sources.
Friday - Fridays will be the same as the Sunday session, but on a Friday (surprise surprise). 7-9pm, open to everyone who’s passed the beginners course or equivalent. Friday curriculum is currently ad-hoc/experimental - we’ll see how the classes & attendance turns out and see how it goes.
Costs - For beginners the 8-week course is £50, paid either all upfront or £25/four weeks. Regular class members can drop in to the beginners course for £5/session.
Regular Friday & Sunday classes are £7/session. One regular class per week is £25/month, two regular classes per week is £45/month.
