Vitality Gyms (Permanently Closed)
Reviews
They closed the gym without any notification to their customers.
The place is shutdown. Owners owed money and didn't pay rent. They went and flooded the toilet and used that as an excuse to take the equipment out of the place " so they don't get damaged". People who are a member be advised, contact your bank to cancel your Direct debit ASAP. I still have some things in one locker.
Gym closed for days on end due to 'Health and Safety' incident. Phone line is dead, email address is undeliverable, facebook page removed. No communication that the gym would be closed, and no sign of it opening. But of course I'm still being charged via direct debit...
Not the worst gym I've been to. Well maintained equipment and staff are alright too. Fairly spacious but then I don't know what it's like during peak times.
Had a couple of run-ins with some oddball members. Several people insist on advising you how to 'train' properly despite you never asking them. I also got told off by an old chap for using deodorant in the changing rooms...uh huh.
Not bad for the money in all but if you plan on leaving then make sure you tell them way in advance as the company that deals with their payments are a pain in the ass and it ended up costing me a further two month's payments which were of no use to me. Not exactly no-contract...
The gym itself is a decent gym, classes a little limited but overall fine. What I would say is the company they outsource their payment process to are horrific, and even though it's a separate company to Vitality, I won't join vitality again because they use them. Vitality pass the blame to the company, but they choose to use them so they should take responsibility.
I was told if i wanted to cancel my membership to simply stop the direct debit, that may be enough for Vitality but the finance company then proceeded to send me default charges for stopping my payments, they tried to charge me twice, and to get through to them on the phone is a nightmare and an expense in itself. Would avoid handing my payment/bank/card details to these ever again.
