When I visited the weather was not great which means a lot of the animals were not out but still fell in love with the animals toto stole our hearts and I’m 100% going to return on a day when the weather is better so will hopefully get to see everyone keep up the good work I just wish I had found you before now

User

What lucky animals you all are. After reading your heartbreaking stories about the cruel ways some of you started your lives, you now get to feel grass between your toes and see the sun above your heads. What WAMS does for your wellbeing and safety is second to none. It’s not a circus-the monkeys and animals here are all treated with respect, love and dignity.

User

What an amazing place. Before going I read a few reviews some not so nice. It referred to the enclosures and the condition of the animals. Even down to the gravel carpark! I went with an open mind and an understanding this is a sanctuary.

Well I don’t know where the negative people went, it certainly wasn’t here! It was lovely. Animals were having food when we arrived. They looked well kept and enclosures had plenty to do in them. Even tho they were all chilling in the sun munching their food. Such a wonderful little place. I will definitely be going back to show my support. Amazing place and people who have done a fantastic job in rescuing and caring for these animal x ps the carpark was fine

User

We visited here for the first time on a sunny but cold Saturday afternoon. We were pleased with the price knowing the money goes towards the animals. We were impressed with the variety of animals but also saddened by their pasts but thank goodness they are safe and well looked after now. It was lovely to have backgrounds on the animals and we thoroughly enjoyed our day out, we will be returning x

User

Visited yesterday for the second time, and although it was not the best of days weather wise, we had an absolutely fantastic time! I needed to make sure my partner did not have Ronnie with him on the car ride home as he created quite a bond with him. Will definitely be returning in the future as I’m looking forward to seeing the Meerkats

User

Visited on a sunny spring day, the chimps and monkeys were amazing and obviously enjoyed interacting with the visitors. A great place to visit, where all donations are most welcome, to enable the sanctuary to continue its good work.

User

Visited on Tuesday and I got to say I absolutely loved it . I was a bit emotional reading the posts on their past lives which is horrific they had to go through in the first place. I loved watching them swinging round their enclosures and playing. Such beautiful and intelligent animals, you can see how well looked after and happy they are . I will definitely be back for another day, hopefully weather will be a bit better this time and I can see them more in full view amazing sanctuary, amazing work, and very friendly staff .

User

Visited for the first time yesterday and have totally fallen in love with this special place! What an incredible setting for the residents forever home! It was heartbreaking to read the residents life stories but equally as encouraging to see them looking so well and enjoying themselves so much. The staff and volunteers that we met were all wonderful and incredibly dedicated to the animals in their care. I would urge people to take their time when visiting - make sure that you read the notices posted at the enclosures and spend time observing and getting to know the animals. It was a huge privilege to be able to visit and I cannot wait to return!!!

User

This place is amazing. Had a great visit there yesterday and will defo be back when it's a bit warmer. I totally fell in love with Jason and Tubman who were dancing with us and putting their hands up to the glass as if we were holding hands. Toto was great blowing raspberries at my daughter and playing with his cars. You do a great job there for all the animals.

User

This place is a must visit! What a great find. Suitable for all ages. £8.50 entry fee, was expecting it to be a lot more. We came last bank holiday Sunday and we had great weather - all of the monkeys/apes and other animals were out relaxing, being playful and entertaining. We walked around the sanctuary 3 times and each time we went around we noticed something different or the monkeys were behaving in different ways (in a good way). They have very emotional backgrounds but it’s lovely to see they are now being well looked after by people who really care about them. (There is also a petition on the way out of the shop, we noticed it last minute.. please read it and sign). The kids visiting on this day all seemed like they were really enjoying themselves too We were able to get really close to the monkeys without feeling like we were being rushed by others wanting to see them, not many places I’ve been to where you can get as close to them as you can here. We will definitely be back and I will be recommending it to everyone. Please ignore some of the negative reviews, don’t judge before you’ve gone there yourself.. it is a rescue sanctuary not a zoo! Hope you guys keep up the good work!

My fiancee and I visited the sanctuary today (our 4th time in total) and did the 'keeper for a day' package as it is her birthday.

The day primarily consisted of feeding the various primates and other animals in their enclosures and housekeeping. Nicola, one of the keepers and our supervisor and guide for the day, was incredible - a true professional who clearly cares very deeply for the well-being of the creatures in the sanctuary's care. Every animal there has a story, which were again imparted expertly by our guide. It was wonderful to get a behind-the-scenes view of the sanctuary and it has truly helped us appreciate the amazing work they do (even if my partner did get covered in a handful of poop thrown quite expertly by one of the chimps!)

All of the staff were very pleasant, and the facilities, both for guests and the resident animals, were great.

We also 'adopted' two capuchin monkeys (Bert and Luki) which was a wonderful way to conclude our most recent visit, and also comes with a year's free entry to the sanctuary - wonderful value for money!

We will definitely be back!

User

My family and I visited the sanctuary today and we absolutely loved it. What ana amazing thing your doing. I will definitely be recommending to others. For a family of 5 we paid £28 which isn’t an awful lot really especially as the money is going straight back into the sanctuary. Keep up the amazing work. X

User

I think people are forgetting the difference between a zoo and a sanctuary in previous comments. It is very clear that money given to the sanctuary is used to help the animals. So £8.50 for an adult is not expensive in my eyes. Especially when you think that is the cost of a cinema ticket etc. And this is used to help animals, and can be gift aided!

Went today for the second time. Not a very large place, but a nice outdoor wander around the different animals takes about an hour or so for just two adults. Obviously this is a very relaxed place, so just standing and watching the animals is great, some show off, others just chill! (They are not there to entertain you like in a circus!)

Was quite cold but dry and was explained to by the receptionist that not all the animals may be outside today considering the weather. (I took that into consideration whilst deciding whether to go today or another day and appreciated the receptionists honesty. —Again people complaining in previous comments... it’s common sense surely if it’s raining or cold, the animals will be inside and how is that the sanctuary’s fault... they are looking after them well by not letting them outside in the cold if they don’t want to be!)

I originally knew about the place as my aunty adopted Fergus back in the 90’s (I think) when he was in Penscynnor Bird Gardens, and she was told a few years back that Fergus was now in this sanctuary.

Fergus was inside today so didn’t see much of him, but totally fell in love with Toto and ended up adopting him!

All in all, fab place to go for a casual few hours out in the fresh air, spending time with these beautiful animals. Worth the £8.50! Just remember this is not a zoo for you to stand and be entertained, this is a sanctuary that helps these animals and they allow people in to help, donate and appreciate them. If you remember that, you’ll really enjoy!

User

I spent yesterday as a 'keeper' for the day after being gifted it for my 30th birthday, and what a day it was! Nicola and the other staff were great, and clearly cared deeply for all the animals. We spent the day cleaning the monkey and ape's bedrooms, preparing their food and putting it in their enclosures, and even hand feeding some of them! Highlight of the day was definitely being clambered on by lemurs, and (literally) having tea with the chimps

User

I love this place so much. I could stay here for hours just going back and fore to look at all the Monkeys, Apes etc. Love having a good chat with Ronnie with sign language. He’s such a laugh x

User

Great find whilst camping! Reasonable price and as much time as you like to wander round and see the characters and read about how they got to be at such a caring sanctuary. We went back on our selves to see them all again as they were so fantastic to observe. Even got to see the baboons outside whilst their enclosure was cleaned. Enjoyed a coffee and muffin inside and wandering around the charity shop there and buying a monkey souvenir. I would recommend a visit, such a joy and friendly staff.

User

Fantastic time today at this amazing centre and great to see all the animals clearly enjoying themselves and playing together my little girl loved it. We will for sure be back soon- highly recommend a visit. It's a bit off the beaten track but 100% well worth the treck with very friendly helpful and informative staff- thank you for a great today out and can't wait to return!!

User

100% pure love for this place and all the animals within.

The owners and staff are all such kind hardworking caring people.

Visited today (4th July) first time for me and my boyfriend was really excited about seeing these animals up close! Was abit disappointed the lady behind reception was brilliant very welcoming but as we walked around I would have liked to have seen more staff around to be able to ask them questions about the animals the staff we did see made no contact with us even tho we said hello we was just ignored maybe an idea for the future have staff interact with visitors to make their visit even more better and maybe abit more for families to be able to do when walking around
