The article tells the fascinating story behind Wally's Deli that extends back to the post-war era, a time when George VI was on throne and the Cold War was beginning. It contains some great photographs plus a video narrated by current owner, Steven Salamon.

What an absolute find! A treasure trove in the heart of Cardiff.

Great selection of fantastic quality foods and the service was excellent on each occasion. Staff went above and beyond to get bottled water for us from the cafe upstairs as they don't stock in the main store.

Well worth a visit

Went in for a coffee but changed our minds and had lunch. We both had a house salad which was wonderful and then apple strudel which was also great. The staff are very good and Wallys comes highly recommended

Tasty soups are excellent value, friendly service and classical music on the tannoy makes Wally's the civilised place to go. If you're really hungry have an Austrian speciality platter and feel like you're in a cafe by the Rhine.

Never written a review before so I think it says a lot that I would post this after visiting Wally's.. Just wanted to say how fantastic the deli is, offering a brilliant product range (including sobrasada which I have scoured the country for and never been able to find!!) and really great service from all of the staff who went out of their way to answer any questions and be really helpful in a not overbearing or in your face kind of way!! I think people deserve more often to know when they're doing a great job so keep up the good work Wally's!

If you've traveled a lot and are hankering for that nice ham, cheese or sauce from the stir fry you ate in Thailand, chances are you can get it from Wally's in Cardiff. The traditional style Austrian Deli features food and drink from around the globe from American to Asian to European. Fresh baked breads can be found here as well as a deli counter that's stocked with more meats than anywhere in Cardiff. Even better, there's a lovely Austian Style cafe upstairs that serves the best Weiner Melange this side of the channel and the cakes, dear god the cakes are to die for. Try the Sachertorte for a real taste of Vienna, or the Carrot cake for a taste of heaven.

Great lunch and service in the cafe today. Food was delicious and fresh and delivered promptly. Friendly staff too. Highly recommended.

Found this little gem on a day out to Cardiff today, took home some very tasty and probably very naughty to eat Baklava and Kataifi. But is it all going to get back to Warwickshire? I don't think so ’┐Į.

Brilliant experience this week. Went to the store looking for a Christmas gift, and was served at the gin counter by a staff member whose product knowledge was brilliant. I was given samples to try before purchase, with each sample explained with descriptions of flavour and brand story. A great instore experience as always.

Always visit Wally's Kaffeehaus when my friend and I have a girls day in Cardiff...beautiful, fresh, tasty food and the best coffee. the staff are always friendly and the service they provide is excellent. Unusual setting makes the whole experience complete. Fantastic place for lunch!

After a terrible experience at the Hilton yesterday Wally's fitted us in for 6 afternoon tea's in under half an hour and couldn't do enough! Amazing service’┐Į

Absolutely lovely place, so glad we found it and decided to stay for lunch. Fab food and service and the delicatessen downstairs is a treasure trove of wonderful foods and drinks.

Well worth a visit.

Went for a rum laced hot chocolate for breakfast along with some Greek pastries which my Greek partner thoroughly enjoyed. Staff were very pleasant indeed and the little cafe upstairs was a delight. Thank you

A lovely little place. Stairs to the coffee shop might be a bit step for some and it would be nice to see some Welsh products on sale but fantastic staff and great coffee. We went back a second time

Retail side very good, sadly upstairs let them down, eagerly waiting to serve just dishwater hot chocolate sent one back explaining the issue not so sure it was changed 2nd cup experience matched the first the coffees where ok so paid the bill highlighted the issue and left, staff where not interested so no point in making a fuss, I shall call Monday and deal with the issues then .....
