... This is a half hour class full of fun, skills and songs, with a dash of Water Babies magic as always! Our taster sessions cover the fundamentals of our Water Babies programme and our amazing instructors will explain how and why we do each skill, with lots of demonstrations to put you and your baby at ease. Why did you choose to be a Water Babies teacher? I’ve always been passionate about teaching and I was inspired by Waterbabies, after taking my son to lessons as a parent. I can honestly say it was the best decision I ever made!
Apart from swimming what other hobbies to you have? I enjoy sewing and making baby/children’s clothes, as well as spending quality time with my family
What is your favourite Skill / Activity? There are so many, but if I had to pick just one it would have to be the glide swim.
Do you have any pets or children? 1 boy (3.5yrs)
What did you study at College or University? I graduated university with a 2:1 in sport and psychology
What do you enjoy most about being a Water Babies teacher? Seeing the progression, enjoyment and confidence grow in the little ones week after week. It really is the best feeling! (as well as not having to put on make up 😊)
What is the hardest thing about being a Water Babies teacher? For me, It would be carrying all the equipment around to each venue. You wouldn’t believe the amount of things we have to carry! (I’m not the most graceful or coordinated person so I do sometimes get stuck, mostly in doorways!!!)

Our Chapter 1's are practicing their synchronised swimming at the start of this weeks lesson, before revisiting their skills and songs from the previous few weeks.
Our Chapter 2's are working on their streamline back positioning with a fun addition to their chillax swims!

Just like adults, some babies feel the cold more than others.
Obviously the temperature of the pool is the most significant factor when swimming young babies but the air temperature can make a big difference too. Always take your towel onto poolside to wrap them up after wards, you can even pop a hot water bottle in with their towel for extra warmth when getting dried off!
If your baby is cold in the water, it can have a negative effect on their enjoyment. Their bodies would ...be using up their energy to keep themselves warm instead of having fun splish, splashing!
It’s one of the first things we try to eliminate in our lessons so please always borrow a wetsuit from your instructor if you feel the need!
The majority of our pools are more like very warm baths! We can’t say the same for most public pools however – so if you’re off to your local leisure center this Summer, go prepared. A good fitting wetsuit can keep your baby’s core temperature 2 degrees warmer than the pool – that can make such a big difference!

Well, what can I say? We love water babies. Yes they are a bit more expensive than others but I think this is made up for with the warmth of the teachers and how much they enjoy teaching little ones. The customer service is exceptional as my little one was having an issue with one pool (upset and screaming) and they we're happy to let me move to a different class that suited her better, where we did our taster. I can't fault the friendliness and helpfulness of every member of water babies I have spoken to and they couldn't do enough to support me and little one feel confident and safe in the water. I would highly recommend water babies to anyone wanting to become water confident with their little ones.

We love water babies my little girl lili loves her lessions at first she was scared and nurvous and i was worried that we would have to stop going but ali and emma both didnt give up on her and now she loves it and her swimming is coming on in leaps and bounds i would recomend to anyone it good for your baby and your self as it brings yoi closer together and you both make friends along the way x

We have been going to classes for about 10 months and I have always enjoyed bringing my daughter. Although we've only just joined the SE region. We changed classes this term as Phoebe hated the last term, always seemed cold and miserable in the pool. This term she is already enjoying it more and is so much happier. Marianne is a lovely teacher and the pool at Llanhennock is lovely and warm. Thank you Waterbabies team xxx

We had a taster session with Aleitia last night at Ty Gwyn school in Cardiff. Jacob is 14 weeks old and we wanted to get him into swimming as early as possible to build confidence and learn such an important skill.

It could not have gone any better. Aleitia was wonderful. She taught us how to hold Jacob correctly, gave advice and guidance and encouraged both of us in the pool. I thought I’d be quite nervous and couldn’t picture myself in this type of session but I felt completely comfortable. Jacob also slept for 11 hours last night which is a bonus!

We signed up to 10 weeks this morning and can’t wait to start. Thank you Aleitia and water babies!

We are into our second chapter of Water Babies and we absolutely love it!! I can't speak highly enough of our whole experience so far. Aletia is a fantastic teacher & goes out of her way to help us!!

Customer service has been great. We had 2 sessions cancelled in chapter 1 which was disappointing but I guess that's always a risk in the venue we have chosen. Those sessions were refunded straight away which was good, although if I'm honest I would have preferred to have the sessions (at a different venue/day/time) than the refund!! But I totally understand that that may be a nightmare to organise!!!

Water Babies Wales SE is fantastic. We have been swimming since my daughter was just 5 weeks old. She loves the lessons, the activities and she has loved the different instructors we have had. We nearly decided to stop when she turned two but I just couldn't bring myself to stop when she enjoys swimming so much and I can see the progression she makes all the time. Thank you Waterbabies.xx

There's so many things I can praise water babies for.. I couldn't come one week due to a funeral and they messaged straight back with other days and times for me to go to so we wouldn't miss out. The service is amazing... messaging straight back and happy to answer the simplest questions quickly and pleasantly. Even the staff on the phones are lovely and will take time to help you. Our instructor in Aberdare is a wonderful lady who gave me and my daughter more and more confidence in the water and I cannot thank her enough. Even when my baby girl was having a rough week she was all smiles and comforted her. Emily smiles when she sees her now and is all excited. Everyone says about the price but you get what you pay for at the end of the day. I'm happy to say the first chapter has gone swimmingly (pun intended) and can't wait for chapter 2. Thankyou waterbabies.

My 6/7 month old at the time started swimming lessons & he loved it until we had to take him underwater. He would get himself all upset & every time we went to class he would get himself upset again. The teacher is fantastic & has helped my son gain more confidence to swim under water & now at 9/10 months he swims underwater with out getting upset. I'm so proud of my son learning to overcome his fear of not enjoying going underwater. Would definitely recommend anyone who would like to take there baby to water babies lessons to come along its great fun. It's helped my son socially aswell as he enjoys seeing all the other babies there too. We are just about to book our next term & cannot wait to see what we learn next.

Mason is coming to the end of chapter 2. I love watching him develop new skills and enjoy the water every week. The lesson gives him and us confidence in the water! Looking forward to splashing with him on holidays �

Looking forward to our 4th child starting this term - our first 3 have reaped the benefits: we've never needed armbands, it's saved our son's life when he got out of his depth (twice!) and most recently it was amazing to see our 3yr old start lessons with children twice her age but with the same abilities! All our Waterbabies are confident and happy in the water - not just a life skill but such a joy when we're on holidays. We've had so many positive comments from other parents about this. Thank you for this great start.

I signed Noah up to Water Babies at five weeks old to help teach him new life skills that may save his life one day.

My family and I have loved watching Noah grow and enjoy himself in every class, while gaining confidence in the water.

The staff and parents in Noah’s group have been really welcoming, which has made our first chapter a fun and rememberable time.

Highly recommend- Can't thank waterbabies enough for the great start my son has to being able to swim. It has been an emotional day as it was his last ever session this afternoon aswell as his last underwater photo shoot, since joining a class 4 years ago. His instructors have been amazing, marieann was his first instructor in Radyr followed by Emma in Duffryn. Both ladies are so lovely, couldn't have asked for better, so professional and friendly and will be missed greatly by Jacob. 4 years of wonderful swimming memories for us all, Big thanks to Marieann and Emma x

Had so much fun tonight at waterbabies I have never seen Ellie-Louise so excited!! We really do love it and could not recommend them enough. I have never looked forward to a Monday so much in my life before! thank u all for making it so enjoyable I can really see the improvement in Ellie-Louise since starting in sept. Going into our 3rd chapter. It's amazing watching the little one's confidence grow. Highly recommend water babies. I'm so proud of my little mermaid, she loves it and has a great teacher too :)

Bonnie has been going to Waterbabies since she was 3 months old and it's the best thing we ever done. She absolutely loves swimming, she is so confident in the water. She is even singing 'splish, splash' in her own little baby babble. We have had two swimming instructors so far who have both done an amazing job! I will defiantly be recommending to anyone who is interested.

I first took my son to Waterbabies when he was 10 months old and he was the oldest in his class. He did enjoy the classes on the whole and we did two terms. I do think however that there is quite a lot of emphasis on the underwater part as the real money maker is the underwater photoshoot at the end of the term, which my son did not enjoy at all (despite not getting upset on the shoot or in lessons). He looked petrified on the photos and I felt bad for putting him through it. I understand that getting babies to go underwater is important so they are not afraid if they were to fall in, but I think there could be less of it in lessons and more swimming. That said, my son has not been put off and we continue to enjoy going swimming together.

In our 10 week course we had 3 sessions cancelled and 2 moved to a different pool. I then had to chase for refunds. Although I thought our individual instructors were lovely, I thought it was massively overpriced (we're now doing another baby course for half the price!) the customer service wasn't great and I completely disagree with being automatically enrolled and charged for the next term! If someone else in my class hadn't warned me about it I would have been charged £150 I didn't have for a course I didn't want. On the whole, a very disappointing experience.

We only went with water babies because they offered a photo shoot as part of the package. Turns out the photo shoot is part of the package but none of the images! They don’t tell you that it costs another £150 for one image! They should tell you this up front. It’s deceptive and I imagine Trading Standards would be interested.

Very disappointed as I had high expectations from the classes considering how expensive they are. Lots of pressure to put my baby underwater and my son did not enjoy the lessons and was very distressed during them. I only attended 3 classes as my son was too distressed when I took him. Was not offered a refund for the remainder of my lessons and I could not even give them to a friend so I have to waste them. My son enjoyed swimming before I started waterbabies and now he hates it.
