Welsh Camerata Description

The Welsh Camerata was formed in January 2004 to specialise in early music and music inspired by early styles and techniques under the guidance of early music specialist Andrew Wilson-Dickson. Numbers in the choir vary between around 20 and 25. By 'early music' is meant European classical music from the Baroque, Renaissance and Middle Ages. Performance technique has evolved over the centuries and singing music from earlier periods often requires quite a different approach to the material. Our specialism has led us to discover forgotten masterpieces from an incredibly rich period. Many of our performances have contained pieces no doubt performed for the first time in Wales since their composition.
