Welsh Highland Heritage Railway

A must see and ride, one of the longest preserved steam railways in Wales. Runs right across the Snowdonia National Park. Views of Snowdon summit. Very friendly staff. great day out and well worth the fare.

This is a superb steam railway which has two routes which transverse picturesque scenery , one through the Snowdonia National Park onto North Wales and the other shorter route to Blaenau which is an old slate town and gives a real taste of wales since many here have Welsh as the first language, there is a small museum which has detailed history of the area. This is worth every single penny!

Good day out for the grandchildren. Quite short but nice scenic journey. Interesting museum half way round.

Brilliant place for old and for the ickle ones. You ride on big train then take 10 min out for engine to move to front then travel back half way and then get out for half hour to look round engine shed which the kids love. Climb inside the cabs and blow whistles, do rubbings , dressup, trains toys to play with and have a ride on the minature train. Good range for 1-8. After a picnic we did it all again as once you have a ticket you can travel all day. Brill and thanks to all the staff there very informative and friendly.

Fantastic time on this narrow gauge railway. Travelled the entir eline from Portmadag to Blaneu Festingo and back again.

What I would recommend is spending time in the town of Prthmadgog, and visitng the slate works as well.

Value for money - good - would go again (this was our thrid trip too!)

Excellent for families with young kids, lovelly staff. Definitely recommend the teddy bears picnic!
