Yesterday afternoons task was to fit 2 x fixed privacy side windows on an iconic 1998 Volkswagen T4 Transporter for a garage I have done things for in the past in Aberystwyth. Glass supplied by them I just cut the panels, used my cleaners, primers, polyurethane and u channel knock on trim.
Not the easiest of side windows to fit as they never meant to have side windows in them as the ones with the windows in when they left the factory have different apertures and are completely different panels and doors but with a little perseverance and around 5 hours later all was complete. Hope the new owner is happy with them 🤞🏻 Whole job done using Milwaukee tools that are not left on the van overnight.

Yesterday’s first job after a meeting my glass supplier early nr Welshpool was to shoot over to Caersws to replace a tinted front Windscreen on a 2018 Peugeot Partner van for the owner of a caravan site just outside of Newtown. Job done in around an hour undercover in the barn/sheep shed as it was teeming down outside. Owner got my number off the local Peugeot main dealer in Llanidloes. He rang me Monday afternoon and screen was fitted by 10am Tuesday morning and ready to use by half past 🙂👍🏻

Only job on Saturday was to replace a tinted, Heated Front Windscreen with ADAS cameras and a rain/moisture sensor on a 2017 Land-rover Discovery Sport for a local guy nr Tywyn through his insurance so only his excess to pay. I got a call to quote for the screen late Wednesday evening, insurance contacted the next day and authorised later on in the day so I collected the screen Friday morning ready to fit Saturday morning in my unit as the weather was reported as being wet and windy so better to be safe than sorry. Job done in just over an hour and after all put back together checked heated screen worked and rain sensor too and also no lights on dash so no Camera reconfiguration required 🙂 Picked owner up shortly after and he was very happy as he was waiting for over a week waiting for whoever his insurance company recommends.

One of last Fridays jobs was to replace a heated rear tailgate glass on a 2012 Vauxhall Zafira as the owner had a little reversing accident nr Machynlleth. Job done in just over an hour and all vacuumed out too. It would have been done in half the time if the boot lock wasn’t playing up and the rear wiper came off the motor instead of being a pain in the rear as it was seized on that tight that I broke my newest wiper tool 😡

Today’s first job was to replace an offside rear door glass in dark privacy tint for a lady nr Bow Street on her late 2014 Ford Kuga as the key got locked in the vehicle and a window was smashed by the fire brigade to gain entry, apparently owner still waiting for the second key from when vehicle was purchased. Job done in about an hour and all vacuumed out the best I could inside the door and rear of the car.

Tuesdays task as the weather was rubbish I called a job into the unit to fit 2 half sliding windows into a 2017 Ford ‘Transit’ Custom for a lady just outside of Dolgellau who had been recommended to me by a previous customer of mine who’s Renault Traffic van I put 6 windows into last year. The sliding door had already got a sliding window in that had a really small sliding glass in it and had also not been fitted that well as there was no inside trim used either so I was aske...d to supply and fit two of the same half sliding matching windows with better locking catches and better drainage systems than the TVW window that was in the van when the owner purchased it. The rear windows are also TVW windows and are all over the place out of shape and rippled (you get what you pay for these are cheap European windows) anyway I will end up replacing them in the near future no doubt. Job done in around 5 hours in total using Milwaukee tools and all cut edges primed, both skins bonded together and inner u channel//knock on trim fitted too. Customer came next morning to pick up her van and is over the moon shall we say and is gonna get me to do the rear doors at a later date and I also maybe fitting a universal sliding window with a fly screen to one side of the van in next week or too.

4th and final job of the day yesterday was to replace a Tinted Front Windscreen on a late 2014 Volkswagen T5.1 Transporter for a lad in Aberaeron just outside of Aberystwyth. Job done in less than an hour with a lift in from the owner as these are impossible to Chuck in on your own. Been a long day and only an hour and a half drive back home.

3rd job yesterday and was done at Anthony Motors as I was there and it was easier for the owner to drop to me as she lives in the town centre and would struggle to get the van close to the car if she could even park the car near home. Vehicle was a 2008 Ford Fiesta and the windscreen was tinted and also heated. Job done in around an hour just before it started to rain.

2nd job yesterday was to replace a tinted front Windscreen with a moisture sensor on a late 2007 Volkswagen Golf GTI for one of the Valeters at a large VW Main Dealership I do work for in Aberystwyth. The screen wasn’t broke but had moisture between the 2 pieces of laminate and was going an unsightly white as it was delaminating which compromises the strength and structure of the screen as it weakens due to the breakdown. (cheap quality UKG Auto windscreens own manufacturing brand glass) All done in around an hour and ready to drive when the owner finishes work at 5pm.

1st job yesterday after meeting my glass supplier from Birmingham early at Welshpool was to replace a tinted front Windscreen with a moisture/rain sensor, hud (head up display) and connect drive on a 2017 BMW M535 Avant for a guy in Powys. Screen purchased was a Genuine BMW OE screen just to be safe that everything will do as it should once the screen was replaced. Job done in around 2 hours in the barn as the weather was a little hit and miss, and ready for the owner to use the next day.

Saturdays first job was to replace a tinted heated rear screen on a 2008 Volkswagen Transporter T5 which was due to be on a ferry later Saturday afternoon, so to get this done and ready so the owners could still make the ferry and have there holiday in Norway was to order the window on an overnight order from Anthony Motors parts department and for me to be there at 9:30am to meet the owners who live in Llandridnod Wells so all could be sorted for them to carry on with there plans. Job done in less than an hour and all vacuumed out and ready for them to drive off when they returned. I even pulled the lower dent out the tailgate but forgot to get a picture 😒

One of Fridays jobs was to refit a front Windscreen and do a stone chip repair on a 1990 Volkswagen Golf mk1 convertible now it’s been painted Matt black as it’s going to its first show next weekend after it’s been rebuilt. No pressure 🤔 I will get a picture of it once it’s finished. Makes a change to get the string out and do an old classic like this once in a while 🙂

Today’s second job was for a friend of mine and was to replace a broken drivers side rear quarter glass on a 2006 Mercedes A180 Avantgarde that had to be sourced from a Mercedes main agent as they are not stocked in any of me glass suppliers. Job done and all vacuumed out in around 45minutes whilst drinking 2 coffees and eating a sarny, cheers Terry lad 🙂👍🏻

Today’s first job was to replace an Tinted Front Windscreen on a 2007 Fiat Ducato Motor home for a local guy in Bryncrug after a suicidal pheasant decided to fly into him just before last weekend. Vehicle was dropped to my unit as the weather was supposed to be wet and windy and the owners went on the train for a couple of hours to pass time whilst I replaced the windscreen. Job done in around 90 mins and all ready for the owners at 5:30pm when they came to pick it back up.

One of today’s jobs was to replace a tinted front Windscreen on a late 2003 Suzuki Grand Vitara for a customer of my mechanics in Corris from Aberllefenni. Job done in just over an hour and ready for an mot. I modified a universal trim which sits and looks better than the old original hard plastic type to save the owner £32 as you can’t reuse the old moulding and it is just a moulding/trim not a seal.

One of Monday’s jobs was to replace a fixed privacy glass behind the drivers door on a 2010 Renault Traffic camper van that had a half sliding window previously fitted (NOT BY ME) that had been nothing but trouble for the owner from day one. He had them both fitted in Scotland after having the van resprayed. I was asked to fit a fixed piece as the opening slider had been leaking into the inside of the vehicle as there is no drainage on the window that was fitted. I also fitted a piece of trim top to bottom on both the glass I replaced and the sliding door side to protect the back edges which also just finishes the job off and looks good against the rear panels too. Job done in the sun on the owners drive at home in around 90 minutes. Owner very happy with the replacement. He will now have no more issues with leaks on this side 🙂

Saturdays task was to put 5 windows into a late 2008 Ford Transit MWB for a lady in Tywyn that is turning the van into a camper. I first done the rear doors with green tinted glass, followed by the drivers side panel opposite the sliding door which I fitted a green tinted top opening sliding window. Then I fitted a slight privacy tinted universal fixed piece in the drivers side rear panel above where the quarter glass would be and then done the opposite side once I measured out so it was in the exact same place to the mm as the other side. I fitted a slight privacy tint universal piece which has a half slider with a built in fly/bug screen too. Job done in the unit on what was a very long but enjoyable day and I am really happy with the van myself and just hope the owner is too.

2nd job today was bought to me after owner finished work and was a stone chip/glass repair on a late 2005 Audi A3 that used to belong to a mate of mine and it car I previously put a heated rear screen into. Chip came out really well and was done in just over half an hour.
