About Y Daith

Y Daith is the Vale of Glamorgan's Pupil Referral Unit. Our Key Stage 3 provision is located at The Amelia Trust Farm and Key Stage 4 is based in Cowbridge.

Y Daith Description

The aim and purpose of Y Daith is:

- To provide a stable, caring and structured environment for students which will allow them to grow in self-worth.

- To provide a rich curriculum (in line with the National Curriculum) which will foster and encourage the students’ enjoyment of education, as well as their social and emotional development to the limit of their academic, physical and practical abilities.

- To provide, when appropriate, opportunities for full or part-time re-integration into mainstream schooling.

- To develop a mutually supportive network with parents, which will help students at school and in their own family and community.

Students’ individual needs are addressed by specialist staff within a positive behaviour framework that seeks to build on their strengths and self esteem. Individuals are encouraged at all times to make positive choices for themselves and have regard for the needs of other individuals within the teaching and learning environment.

Best wishes to our year 11 pupils who start their GCSE exams today and to our KS3 pupils who have their National tests this week.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused by timetable changes this week but we need to give our pupils the best opportunity to do well.

KS3 ONLY
Dear Parent/Carer I'm afraid that the pupils will be starting a little later tomorrow (Wednesday) as we have a broken lock and cannot access part of the building. An engineer will be on site in the morning to fix the issue and the pupils will be arriving on site at 9.30am instead of 8.45am. This means that taxis will be arriving later than normal in the morning. Please accept my apologies for this inconvenience. ... Regards Mr Sweeden

Thank you so much to the parents and carers who completed the Estyn questionnaire and attended today to meet with Estyn. The staff appreciate your support.

Developing a new vision for the future
Following gathering the thoughts of the staff during the inset day on 22nd February it is clear that the consensus of the staff is that the aims of our new vision statement should be person-centred, with a focus on individual progress and creating ambitious pupils who achieve their potential/goals.
We would love to know your thoughts on this?
