Free entry / refreshments available / family event / no need to book ahead. Codi'r To will supply all the materials needed to create your own instrument to perform in a junk band.

World Polio Day – Thursday 24th October 2019
The Disease
Poliomyelitis is a highly infectious disease that most commonly affects children under the age of 5.
... Most know it as poliovirus. The virus is spread person to person, typically through contaminated water. It can attack the nervous system, and in some instances, lead to paralysis. Although there is no cure, there is a safe and effective vaccine – one which Rotary and our partners use to immunize over 2.5 billion children worldwide.
Who is Affected?
Unless we eradicate polio, within 10 years, as many as 200,000 new cases could occur around the world each year. In the past few years, only two countries have reported cases of polio caused by the wild virus, but no child anywhere is safe until we’ve vaccinated every child.
What we will be doing?
Ysgol Glancegin will be supporting the above fundraising event by holding an own clothes day and supporting the local Rotary club’s Purple for Polio appeal. We are asking pupils to come to school wearing something purple. We kindly ask for a contribution of £1 from every child who takes part.

Gosodwyd mainc coffa a cafodd coeden ei blannu yn yr ysgol heddiw er cof am Dorothy Bulled MBE, ffrind i’r ysgol a’r gymuned. Cawsom wasanaeth hyfryd gyda aelodau y cyngor ysgol, llywodraethwyr, staff Ty Cegin a aelodau o’r gymuned/ffrindiau yn cymeryd rhan. Diolch i Miss McGuinness am wneud y trefniadau ac i Sue Smith a Chris O’Neil am drefnu y goeden a Michelle am y blodau. A memorial bench was placed and tree planted at Glancegin school today in memory of Dorothy Bulled MBE who was a friend of the school and the community. We had a lovely unveiling ceremony this morning with members of the school council, school governors, Ty Cegin staff and members of the community/friends taking part. Thank you to Miss McGuinness for making the arrangements and to Sue Smith and Chris O’Neil for arranging the tree and Michelle for the flowers. Thank you to the school kitchen staff, Sylvia Humphreys and Jan Roberts for making the cakes and seeing to the refreshments. Thank you to everyone who attended.
