For our previous YMD 'likers', our YYD FB page is not yet up and running but you can join our PTA page 'Friends of Ysgol Y Deri'
So, this is it...the end of YMD has come. I'll keep this page open as there are so many videos and photos here so wouldn't want to get rid of them. It won't however be active so please don't post questions or requests here as I'll prob just check in once a month or so in the first instance. Thank you to all our page likers and friends who've kept this page so popular over the years, for your kind words, comments, likes and messages. It's been a pleasure chatting to you all!
I...'ll leave you with a final song from us all, please don't pay too much attention to the title - I don't mean good riddance!!. I simply think the words are nice and issues sentiments from us all! "It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right - I hope you've had the time of your life" We certainly have! lots of love, Miss Davey xx

We are proud that a further £200 from our Summer fundraising efforts has been gratefully received by The Not Forgotten Association, a charity that provides recreation and events for the serving wounded and ex-servicemen and women with disabilities. We became aware of the organisation through our fantastic volunteer, Geraint Hillard who has been part of our school community and working across the school for the past 2 years. Geraint is himself an amputee and ex-serviceman and the charity has helped him greatly over the years following his injury. Thank you everyone x
Aaaaah 😞, the school that was....
Hi all, we have some of our YMD souvenir key rings left, some unused notepads and some YMD photo cards. Anyone is welcome to pop in and collect any of the above until 3.30pm this afternoon or between 9.30pm and 12pm tomorrow!
During the summer, £200 of the money we raised at our coffee mornings and the summer fête has been sent to the Hidden Treasures foster home which supports orphans in China. This was inspired by a visit to China by our speech therapist, Katie Hazael and the wonderful things she told us about the children when she returned. Thank you so much for your support. These are some of the children it will go to from the orphanage Katie visits in China :)

Our last yahoo, Friday 17th October. YMD X Factor and goodbyes to Sue and Mrs Kurnick.
So, tomorrow is D-Day! Our very last day with pupils at Ysgol Maes Dyfan. We are looking forward to a day of remembering good times together and are holding one last YMD talent show tomorrow afternoon. It will be a sad time for us all too, especially as we also say goodbye to our longest serving member of staff - our fantastic cook, Mrs Kurnick. Shirley has worked in the school for 32 YEARS and is going to ease into retirement over the next year by taking up a kitchen assista...nt job at Palmerston School. School dinners will never be the same again and from all the staff and pupils, we wish her a very happy future. We also say goodbye to our kitchen assistant, Mrs Sue Davies. Sue has had a long standing relationship with our school as her 2 sons attended YMD many years ago! Sue is leaving us to take up a similar post at Holton Road Primary. We miss you both so much, good luck x
