A friend shared this image by Albert Gyorgy called “Emptiness” to depict how grieving parents feel when they lose a child. I wanted to share it too because I feel this not only represents parents who lose a child but anyone who has lost someone they love. The physical hole that is felt when someone dies cannot be seen but feels very real and incredibly painful. Sometimes we try to fill that physical hole with anything that will take that pain away, alcohol, drugs, buying things - anything to stop feeling- it hurts. Knowing that it’s normal to feel this way can be the start of the healing process 💔

Hearts and Flowers everywhere. It's a difficult time of year where shops and television ads are all about Valentine's Day.....It can be really upsetting and isolating if you don't have " that special someone" in your life. It can also be so painful if you have lost a partner through the end of a relationship or bereavement. Your social media may be full of friends and acquaintance's sharing their gifts and experiences of feeling "so loved" this week. You are not alone in your feelings of hurt or loneliness so share this with those you trust, it's always better to talk.

Now that the festive period is over it feels like everyone is evangelical about "New Year, New You" "Dry January" "Veganuary" What if you don't feel like a new you? What if the things that made life difficult for you last year are still there? Do you feel stuck and frustrated? Talking can help......

Talking about your feelings is so important. Especially at this time of year when it feels like everyone is having fun. It’s the season of love and goodwill. Start by giving it to yourself ......

So I am aware that I have been sharing some festive posts surrounding the clinic I am based in. I am also extremely aware that this time of year can be difficult for lots of very different reasons. If it's tough dealing with all of the festive frivolity when it's all around you, find someone to talk to. Talk to someone you trust about how difficult it is for you and don't bottle it up inside......it's good to talk.
