4Th Solihull Girls Brigade Description

4th Solihull is part of Girls Brigade (GB) a network of 650 groups across England & Wales providing a holistic programme of activities to children and young people in local communities. Children, young people and their communities are discovering their full potential and improved wellbeing through GB resources, by belonging to groups in local communities and taking up volunteering and empowerment opportunities.

The 4th Solihull Girls' Brigade is run by volunteers and open to girls age 4 + . A normal evening consists of games, craft activities, art, baking, problem solving and discussion as the young people develop life skills and build their self-esteem through our programme. Come along one thursday from 6. 30pm and see what its all about.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row...
Our beautiful poppy wreath made by the girls to remember brave men and women who have lost their lives in conflict.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.

TODAY IS THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL
The United Nations declared October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child in 2012, to recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world.
Girls face discrimination and violence every day across the world. The International Day of the Girl Child focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights.
... In 2013 the focus for the International Day of the Girl is education and the role that education can play in making a difference to the lives of girls and young women.
Did you know that 66 million girls are missing from school rooms across the globe?
Let's remember girls around the world in our prayers today!!

Thursday 12th September - our first taster session is over! "The chocolate game" led to chaos and lots of fun :) Check out how crafty we can be - we made these cute paper flowers using 1 square of coloured card and a pipe cleaner!

We will be walking 3 Miles on 29th September to raise funds for our New Equipment Fund. We want to be sure Girls' Brigade will always be a group young people will want to come and be part of. We feel offering more challenging and engaging games and activities as part of our badge programme will help us to achieve this goal so we are fundraising towards updating the equipment we have to offer. Please show your support and join us or sponsor those of us who will be walking :) - sponsorship forms are at St Nicholas' Church and on our notice board in St Stephen's. Thank You!
