Stayed for 1 night in penthouse. Absolutely fantastic. I am fussy and this place surpassed all my expectations. Lovely, friendly staff, clean, comfortable room, food was way above expectation. Cannot fault anything. You really do get what you pay for. Well worth it and a happy wife too.

Perfect weekend apart from the weather! Staff amazing couldn’t do enough for you Smiley happy welcoming faces from all. Breakfast was of a good selection and hot!Dinner was very nice but could of been hotter. Lovely clean rooms well th all what you need in them. Lovely swimming pool/ jacuzzi and steam/ sauna and good gym.

My wife and i have just spent the most enjoyable weekend there, 3rd/5th August 2018. Staff were very attentive, food was excellent in the main restaurant, golf bar was as expected but still good.

There was a full on wedding taking place and this still did not dampen our impressions.

Golf course was in fine fettle.

My only negative was the heat in the bedroom, no air conditioning however housekeeping provided an extra fan immediately.

Will definitely be going back, well worth the price

Lovely stay in a beautiful setting makes this hotel the perfect backdrop for a romantic night away. Lovely sleek check in, friendly staff, reasonable drinks prices and great food.

Our room was lovely, spacious and spotlessly clean. We drank in both bars and ate in the restaurant. Used the spa- clean, warm and relaxing. Can't wait to come back. Thanks to all at The Abbey

I had a golf/stag weekend for 26 of my friends from the moment we got there they had everything in order , coffee was waiting for us the bacon rolls shortly followed . They had menus and a spread sheet for us to pre order so we all sat down and ate at the same time .

There rooms were spotless and very comfortable.

we went down to the restaurant for dinner and they put us in a private dinning room which was excellent and we were well looked after by the staff . Everyone fully enjoyed the food, the one and only small thing was the ones that had the lamb said it was delicious but felt something was missing compared to the portion size of the steak burger and chicken mains . We had 3 excellent courses .

The golf course was in good condition considering the recent weather we have had . All in all we had a very good stay with very polite and friendly staff .We look forward to hopefully coming back in the summer .

Many thanks to all Antony

I booked a weekend away for me, my sister and our daughters to go to Cadburys World, and booked to stay the night at the Abbey Hotel. The staff were very friendly, the room was fantastic with sweets left for the children, the pool was lovely and the food was very nice. I would definitely choose to go back there again.

User

Fantasic place right from checkin from very polite and helpful receptionist to the leisure centre where we had fantastic treatnents and great clean leisure facilaties. Great meal and breakfast in the resturant and very clean modern bedroom. Would recomend to anyone and will be back again for more

User

Came for an afternoon tea today. Every member of staff was welcoming, polite and went out of their way to help us. The afternoon tea was delicious and more then we could manage between us! Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

User

Booked the Winter Warmer Spa Break Deal for a Mothers Day Gift. Well worth the money loved the 2 treatments we each got and the Staff were friendly and helpful. The pool area and facilities were good only downside the Steam Room was out of Order. The food was absoutly amazing hot and delicious for dinner and breakfast. All in all a great experience had and we will definitely be returning sometime in the future.

User

We have stayed in the hotel many times over the past 4 years and have never had a problem.

Our stay this time was lovely - room, food and staff. However, we had an issue upon checkout.

We had booked the secret Sunday escape break (spend £40 each on food and drink and get the room free). The website stated that if this amount wasn't met, no refund would be given. When we went to check out, the lady on reception wanted to charge us for the additional money we had not spent, despite this not being mentioned on the website and the fact that we had already paid the hotel our food and drink allowance of £40 each when booking.

I was quite annoyed, but paid as we needed to leave. I later looked at the website to double check the details of the break, and it does not say that you will be charged any allowance not spent, only that it wouldn't be refunded.

Luckily, when I called the hotel, they realised that the website hadn't been clear and refunded me the money. It's just a shame that we ended our break feeling angry, rather than relaxed.

User

Very nice hotel, staff very friendly and helpful.Would recommend asking for a even number room as they seem to be larger and very light. Lovely outlook over the Golf course. Breakfast is a very relaxed and a wide choice to choose from. lesiure facilities were very good, however pool can get busy with children swimming lesson timings.

User

Staff welcoming however very young and inexperienced causing a few problems.. The pool is not ideal if you are after a good swim, (a lot of people in their/lot of kids, that should of been more restricted (I know half term), not for a relaxing break. On the plus side the spa was very clean.. The facial that we had, we were only supposed to be left 5 mins but it was more like 15 which made us frustrated (plus potentially 10 minutes missing off a treatment we paid for), what were they doing, they need to be more focused.. On the plus side the massage was good and they were friendly.

The evening meal and breakfast was good..

Overall good, not great, just need to focus on feedback I've given. For the money very good value..

In a nutshell.....

1. Hotel lovely

2. Service great

3. Food great

4. Food choice poor

So I have just got home after spending 2 nights at the Abbey Hotel as I attended a family wedding at Bordsley Park.

I booked a family room for myself and 2 children.(3years and 18th months)

The room was everything i'd hoped. Big double, single and a travel cot. Room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. There was no duvet or blanket for the travel cot but luckily i brought my sons duvet.

We chose to dine in Tawneys for our evening meal. There were 5 adults and 3 children eating in total. There was a sign explaining the menu was being changed on the 4th. (This was the 2nd)

Unfortunately the 'limited' menu was further limited when very little was actually available. Meals were having to be refunded as the staff didnt know what was/wasnt available. I would add that the staff were friendly and were clearly embarrassed. The panini maker was broken but they didnt know this at the time the order was placed so yet another refund.

The children were fed and 1 adult. The others were left with nothing else to choose from. So they ended up ordering cheesy chips from the main restaurant...not a great evening meal option im sure you'd agree.

Breakfast was good albeit not a huge choice, however the breakfast choice in the final morning was further limited. No pastries(offered previous morning), no fruit bowl, toast falling on the floor as the tray wasnt on the toaster.

We were able to use a conference room for breakfast with the bridal party which was lovely and very much appreciated.

So the food issue put a slight dampner on the first night however the rest if the experience was good. I'm sure the new menu will be great.

I would stay here again, lovely setting.

User

Had a spa weekend with my sister. Spa staff very helpful. Treatment was lovely and relaxing. Only thing I could say were shower cubicles could have done with a bit more of a clean. Hotel room was lovely and clean, and staff helpful. Evening was very nice and staff again helpful and friendly. Breakfast following morning was good.very wide choice of food. All in all a lovely weekend and Abbey Hotel recommended and will definitely be back. Thank you.

User

Had a really enjoyable stay this week. The family room we had was very spacious and comfortable for the three of us. It would have been 5 stars but you chose to charge us £3.50 for my son to have a hot chocolate with his breakfast. Every other hotel we’ve stayed in had provided this for free as part of his breakfast.

User

Went for a spa weekend for our friends birthday, the staff were lovely and service in the spa was good, the food was very nice but the service let it down badly, booked our evening meal at 8 by half ten we had only just finished our main course and it took us three attempts to get a bottle of water for the table, we never was asked if we wanted another drink throughout the evening, That is just down to bad management/training.

Breakfast was good self service buffet, overall it was a good weekend.

User

We stayed in a superior double room which was very good. Staff were very friendly.

However, if you are looking for a relaxing spa break, this is not the place to go for an overnight stay on a weekend... we did try to use the spa facilities but left after 20mins, the pool was full of children running around and jumping in. There was not enough space to swim and it was very loud in there. Sauna and steam room very small and unable to use the jacuzzi due to being used by children. The times for children are 4-7 which therefore makes it virtually impossible to use the facilities as adults only where it would be a lot quieter.

We choose to have breakfast in the room, read that there was a £3 tray supplement which was fine. However, on check out we were charged £8, which seems very excessive for the pleasure of eating a cold breakfast.

Overall ok.. but unfortunately we would not stay again.

User

Booked afternoon tea 2.00pm, brought tea, then food, satisfactory but nothing special, and until we left at 5.00pm no-one came to the table to ask if we were ok or needed refill of tea or any other drinks. So pretty average, would not go back, same price and better service elsewhere.

User

Setting was stunning Room was ok although carpet was shredded in places & the shower plug was broken revealing a hair clogged hole !!! Pool was great however sitting outside having drinks on arrival by the restaurant the tables were not cleared the whole time we were sat there and there was litter laying around ! In the evening we planned to swim then settle down in the top bar to eat and watch the football ... sadly when the food came out it was inedible (not happy !!) we complained to the bar man who was V apologetic but unable to help so we left our drinks and headed out to the Beef Eater down the road !!!!! (meal & service there was impeccable!!) To be honest this experience rather ruined our evening ... we had wanted to sit, relax and chill out so this actually spoiled our weekend away !! Drinks were removed from our bill which was a gesture ... but for the price and grandeur of the place i wonder how the ‘chef’ could have sent those meals out and thought they would be acceptable !!!! Very disappointed and would probably not go back ... 🙁
