About Afghan Community & Welfare Centre Walsall

Afghan Community & Welfare Centre is based in Walsall established in 2007 to help and support Afghans and other migrant communities living in West Midlands

Afghan Community & Welfare Centre Walsall Description

Our aim is to promote the welfare and benefit of the Afghan Community in the area and also to encourage and promote community cohesion and integration. There are a number of activities on offer, including advice and information, interpretation and translation to all those who is in need irrespective of their creed, spiritual and political beliefs or their social background.
Our Mission is to provide a comprehensive advice and referral service for members of our community particularly in the fields of immigration, health, welfare benefits and housing, to promote education amongst the Afghan community, particularly through provision of language classes and a library, to encourage adult education, increase access to employment and enable them to gain confidence by providing language courses and information technology training, to provide leisure and recreation opportunities to members of the community, to improve the social, cultural and religious lives of the our community by organizing cultural and religious events, to detract the Afghan youth from crime by providing social, cultural and educational activities for them.

As part of our access project we are pleased to offer you second FREE training This particular workshop is on Presentation & Confidence Building. Participants will learn how to talk and give presentations in confidence, understand body language, talk to a wide range of audiences and prepare presentations using different mediums. The training is completely free and participants will gain accreditation's and in-house certificates on the various workshops. There will be also free refreshments.

Eid Celebration at the Afghan Community & Welfare Centre. Eid is about get together and spend some quality time with members of the community. The program started with Eid Greeting and gifts for children, their Eidi (Eid money). We also had the fun part of the party the Egg Fighting at the end. We take this opportunity to thank all of our wonderful volunteers who always work hard to support.

First training session of our Access project, #Volunteering and #Socialaction join us for the next session on 26th August.

As part of our access project we are pleased to offer you FREE training: Introduction to Volunteering & Social Action.
Participants will learn about the importance of volunteering and giving their time to worthy causes... in the community. Will learn how to address issues such as envirocrime, prostitution, drugs problem or any other issues in their locality. They will learn about the role different agencies have including statuary duties. They will also learn how to mobile people from the community to work together to develop a community response in partnership with other agencies. This course will equip participants with the knowledge and skills to become an active citizen. Participants will gain confidence, new skills and improve job opportunities.

We had a lovely time at Blackpool Pleasure Beach with many members of the community, the weather treated us very well and we have all enjoyed the day very much with lot's of fun and activities.

Our new Drop-in Service in Birmingham. Due to increased demand of our service and request by Afghan cultural and Islamic centre Birmingham, we will be offering Free drop-in service at Bilala Masjid every Wednesday 4-7 pm.

Photographs from our community #Iftar event, we were privileged and honored to host and share the true spirit of Iftar with many people from different background, community and faith leaders who have attended the event, we take this opportunity to thank all of those who attended as well as the Mayor of Walsall Marco Longhi and his wife for joining us.
