The warmer months are now upon us and with the season comes exuberant colour, a diverse choice of vegetables and a stunning variety of herbs. At Avery Healthcare, we insist our culinary teams utilise this fantastic opportunity and source ingredients from local suppliers so that residents can truly benefit from the freshest produce with consistently high quality. On Monday 30th July 2018 we hosted Summer Cocktail Parties to celebrate all care sector workers who GO THE EXTRA MILE, raising funds for The Care Workers Charity
The Care Workers Charity (CWC) supports current, former and retired care sector workers (regardless of their roles) across the country who are going through tough times. They provide the rainy day fund for everyday heroes. We are very grateful for any support you can help us give to this very worthy charity.

Friday 13th July saw 5 staff from Avery Group Support centre and 3 staff from our closest care home, @AmarnaHouseCareHome, complete @TheCareWorkersCharity Three Peaks Challenge in Yorkshire. The challenge is run over the three highest peaks in Yorkshire, all forming part of the Pennine range in the Yorkshire Dales National Park in South Yorkshire. In total the teams climbed over 5400 feet, walking 24 miles, collecting some wear and tear in doing so, but all are recovered now. As a team they have raised nearly £3000 for the charity! We are very proud to be a founder member of the Care Workers Charity as well as a gold sponsor.
The CWC’s Going the Extra Mile event on July 30th follows on from the successful Three Peaks Challenge. We will be supporting the CWC at our big Summer Cocktail Party too! We hope to see you there.

Yesterday my Dad passed away in Alma Court, I can’t thank the staff enough truly amazing people and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sorry I don’t no names but caters Sue, Kirsty and nurse Tara and everyone who showed so much love and care

When our Uncle Ken was no longer safe at home his social worker found a place at Alma Court for him, the situation we were in before was difficult and we were concerned about the sort of care he would get. We need not have worried, the staff are patient and caring, there is a comprehensive package of entertainment and frequent walks to feed the ducks and lunch at their local. There's a choice of sitting room if he wants company, alternatively, a spacious room should he want privacy. We can visit anytime and are made to feel welcome when we do, I have to say a big thank you to all the staff and management, what was a distressing situation is now a hundred times better.

My father (Frank Lewis) who was a resident of Alma Court, recently passed away at the age of 91 years. During the time he was a resident there, the professionalism and patience of the staff who looked after him was beyond reproach.

During his actual decline, I was at his bedside and I have to thank all the staff for their kindness and the lengths that they went to, to make sure his passing was comfortable and pain free. I have no absolutely no hesitation in recommending Alma Court to anybody looking for a good care home for their loved one.

My Grandad spent the last 6 months of his life at Alma Court, whilst there the staff were so kind and caring towards him, they treated him like family and were always so welcoming to us when we visited. He sadly passed away this week but during his end of life care the staff did all they could to ensure he was comfortable, they also supported us through the tough time and did anything they could to make it easier for us as family. Anyone considering a family member going there I would highly recommend them.

Thanks again to all the staff who supported us and my Grandad Roy.

It's so lovely to see people having so much fun and activities. I know Norman Jeffery and his wife Linda. She said to look on the Facebook and look at all the wonderful photos and I'm glad that I did. You are such kind and caring people. Norman used to come to sing and smile at Uttoxeter and he loved a good sing along and dance with us. Please give him my love. Best regards Glenda Jackson ÔøΩx

I started here on Monday 10th april, with another day and half this week of training having done three already. I have another 2 days training next week with 2 days induction in the unit itself. I am so far very impressed with the training we have already done. We have an excellent trainer who gives very lively, informative, enjoyable sessions. My feeling so far is that i am going to enjoy working here. Off duty done so that i know what i am doing for the next four weeks after this, better than going more or less week by week. Staff so far seem to be friendly and caring.

User

Such a vast improvement since the change of ownership. My family and I love the fact that the residents are now being cared for in a more personal way. The regular staff are excellent, and I must say that if we have a concern, about John's health or otherwise, we contact the ward ,and the problems are dealt with , and explained to us straight away. (Unfortunately, management seem a little more elusive - usually on phone calls , and usually , when they hear it is Maureen Rushton calling, can't think why - ha ha ) , but always with the promises to ring back. I'm still awaiting at least 3 return calls, ) It is wonderful to see the pictures of the residents, being taken 'out and about', and enjoying the entertainment which is provided for them.Everyone seems to respond to music ! Thank you Gemma ! It is even more wonderful to see our loved ones participating ,and inter-acting with the carers. The carers genuinely seem to care for their charges, which can't always be easy. Most of all I thank them for the respect which they show our vulnerable loved ones. They deserve dignity ! Keep up the good work. Thank You. PS I've got my eye on you Ha ha xx PPS. Just a little complaint (well you didn't think you could get away scot-free did you - only joking !) Could you make sure John is always well dressed, .It was important to him before his' illness' that he was well groomed, along with accesories, watch, ring, tie etc. - oh ! and short sleeved shirts please.. xxxx
