This is a long review (from my FB post) but read on...

Today I went for a late brunch in a fav cafe. An elderly woman comes in, decidedly down-at-heel, and asks for a Sunday lunch. As she's eating the young man comes over and asks her if everything's ok. She says the meat's a bit gristley. Without blinking he offers profuse apologies and says he'll get her a new dinner - or perhaps she'd like to order something else? No no she doesn't want to make a fuss. There's an old toothless guy in ragged clothes waving at her through the window. The waiter notices and says "tell him to come in and join you. Let him come in out of the rain." He comes in and sits down and they agree they haven't seen nicer treatment anywhere in Hereford.

Well done, Ascari. Treating all with immense dignity and respect for the elderly, no matter who they are. I made a point of thanking them at the till, as I put on my warm coat and stepped into the rain wearing good footwear.

The staff and the food never fails here,Chris is always so friendly and welcoming

don't get into town that often but always have time for a great coffee and catch up here x

Food is for eating, and good food is to be enjoyed... I think food is, actually, very beautiful in Ascaris Cafe.It has been for Many Years and I know it will continue.Thank You

Had lovely hot coffee and a toastie...Chris is always friendly, and all the staff very efficient and work really hard...

It's expensive for what you get but food is okay and staff try their best to run the cafe so that's why I've rated it a 3* however is let down by a rude boss who doesn't seem to care about running a business.



I turned up for an interview to be told that the boss was not there and they didn't know where she was. I was given a free coffee and talked to nicely by the team(thank you!). I then waited 45 minutes before giving up, no phone call or email to warn me that she would be late. When I left I received a phone call just over half an hour later to say she was busy "with a brunch" and was now there(an hour an a half late) and wanted me to come back in, which I did.



The interview went okay and I was scheduled on the Thursday for a trial, only to receive a rude answer phone message on the Wednesday that I was late for my trial. Not only had she forgotten the interview, but forgot what day my trial was. She said she'd call me back and never did. I'm not sure how she treats her team but hopefully not like potential staff are treated!
