5J went to Ross Community Gardens this morning and experienced the changes in an autumn garden. Thanks to Tim Shelley and his team at the gardens, all the children planted a pot of daffodil bulbs and carried home a pumpkin. It was a great real life learning opportunity.

In the second game of the season, and on the back of a resounding win against Goodrich, Ashfield travelled to Bridstow. Competing against a much physically larger side, Ashfield were not daunted by the task in hand and quickly set into a rhythm of pressuring the opposition from the start and dominating large parts of the game. The commitment and tenacity of the team enabled Ashfield to run out clear 3-1 winners with goals from Hao and Luca followed up by an own goal from Bridstow after good work by Noah. The defence of Peter, Aiden and Leah remained rock solid throughout the game. A fantastic team effort on the night and thank you to all parents who supported with transport. Person of the match was Hao for his commitment, tireless running and intelligent passing, backed up by a well-deserved goal.

Year 2 - 2M and 2F. This week in geography, year 2 have been learning all about the four compass points. To put these to the test, we directed our classmates around a grid following a specific route, using only North, East, South and West. It was tricky, but the children all persevered and were successful by the end.

Year 2 - 2M and 2F. Following all your kind donations during our harvest celebration, we took a small group of children to the Ross Community Larder giving them a greater understanding of what this means to those in need. Thank you again for your donations and thank you to Annie, for allowing us to come and see the fabulous work she does.

Year 2 - 2M and 2F. We would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Broughton for coming into school last Friday as part of our British values to share, with Lucas, what being a Jehovah’s Witness means to them. We look forward to welcoming Mrs Ratheyan after half term. If any other parent would like to share with year 2 what their religion means to them, we would love to hear from you.

Thank you to all who have contributed stickers towards the Aldi Kit for School poster. We have now completed two posters, with over 800 stickers. These posters will be entered into a draw, with the chance to win £20,000, along with the opportunity to win new kit and equipment for our school.

Year 5 had a fantastic day at the community gardens in Ross-on-Wye today. We learnt all about how plants prepare for the winter; what fruits, vegetables and herbs are ready to harvest at this time of year and we also found out about soil types when we planted our own daffodil bulbs ready for spring.

Year 4 had a magical day of poetry at Hellens Manor. Not one, not two, but three professional poets spent the day with them, running workshops, performing their work and encouraging the children to perform their work too. Many thanks to Chloe at Ledbury Poetry Festival for making it all possible. ASHFIELD PARK YEAR 4s LOVE POETRY!!!

An inspiring day for Year 5 at Masjid-E-Noor Mosque and Gloucester Cathedral. We were lucky to coincide with the Museum of the Moon exhibition in the cathedral, which marks the 50th anniversary of the moon landings.

Year 2: 2M and 2F have enjoyed investigating which materials float and which materials sink with surprising results. After predicting that stones would definitely sink, we were amazed to find that some stones float and that raisins dance in lemonade.

Today the Y1 children put on their wellie boots and went on an adventure to look for signs of Autumn!

Another great week in Reception with RR and RW! Well done to our ‘I Can’ cup winners Aiden and Finn. The children have loved playing with some of our new EYFS outdoor equipment including our new sand pit and den. We look forward to receiving the rest of the equipment and further developing our outdoor provision.

A big well done to Year 2 for their super assembly about ‘The Black Cloud’. KS1 children thoroughly enjoyed watching the second performance today!

Year Two had an amazing afternoon today. We have spent the last few weeks building our own Tudor houses in DT to create a miniature Pudding Lane which we then set on fire to explore how fast the fire travelled and the way the materials burned. We had such an amazing time!
