We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Sir Doug Ellis.
He has left a huge legacy here at Aston and our Medical School as he generously supported over 200 students so far in their journey to study medicine or other health-related courses via Sir Doug Ellis Pathway to Healthcare programme.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

Science themed photography exhibition with a difference comes to Birmingham this week!
If you are passing through Grand Central & Bullring from Wednesday until Saturday, take a few minutes to pop in to what is being billed as the world's first invisible photography exhibition which features a collection of images from the world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths).
As you walk in you could be forgiven for thinking that you are looking at dozens of empty photo fr...ames. But once armed with a hi-spec handheld microscope that clips onto the back of a regular smartphone, you'll find that a world of miniaturised photography opens up in front of your eyes.

It will be open: - Wednesday 24th January: 2pm – 6pm - Thursday 25th January: 4pm – 8pm - Friday 26th January: 11am – 3pm - Saturday 27th January: 11am – 3pm
The exhibition is running ahead of The Big Bang Fair which is an event Aston University will be taking part in once again, showcasing some of our latest research. The Fair is a free event aimed at school children which will be held at the NECBirmingham in mid-March.
