West Midlands Police statement regarding recent robberies in and around Aston University campus:
“A teenager has been charged with seven robberies in Birmingham which happened over the past six weeks.
The 17-year-old is accused of robbing two students in the grounds of Aston University on 29 September and also being involved in a robbery where a man was stabbed in Lichfield Road, Aston, on Monday night (8 October).
... The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is alleged to have carried out the street robberies in Aston, Nechells and another on a train near Sutton Coldfield between August 27 and 8 October.
He was appearing before Birmingham Youth Court today (Friday 12 October).
The boy is accused of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon in relation to the robbery in Aston earlier this week.
