About Avonside Canine Hydrotherapy, Bidford-On-Avon

Hydrotherapy is a form of therapeutic exercise carried out in warm water, non weight bearing it strengthens joints and improves fitness.

Avonside Canine Hydrotherapy, Bidford-On-Avon Description

The physical benefits of swimming have been recognised for centuries. Water increases resistance to movement, a five minute swim is approximately equivalent to a five mile run.

Buoyancy in water supports weight bearing and reduces stress on the joints, encouraging enhanced movement in a safe exercise environment.

Hydrotherapy can assist with the following conditions:

Lameness
Obesity
Arthritis
Mobility Problems
Post & Pre-Operative Care

Ideal, within a fitness programme, for dogs involved in Flyball, Showing, Agility, Racing or Field Sports. It will strengthen gait pattern and muscle tone without tiring or stressing joints.

Debbie, a fully qualified hydrotherapist, and Kate have worked closely with Hawksmoor Hydrotherapy in Nuneaton, and have many years experience with dogs.

Call us on 07974748961 for more information

(All clients must have vet permission. 1 to 1 sessions only; no multiple swims; many pet insurance policies cover this complimentary therapy)

**National Black Dog Day!!** Look at this fine fellow! 4 year old Mac has had TPLO surgery and has come to Avonside to strengthen his stifles after surgery, as well as help keep his weight under control as he is still on restricted exercise. Not only is he handsome but have you ever seen a tongue that long 🤣 well done Mac 🐶💦😀

Spotting the signs of arthritis in dogs. Have a read...... 🐾

**Ruby** Poor Ruby has been through a tough time recently. She contacted septic arthritis in her front elbow which became hugely infected and has lead to muscle atrophy and sever arthritis in both elbows. She has just competed her third session with us at Avonside. She can be a lazy swimmer and needs encouragement to make sure she is using all her legs properly and the massage in between swims is defiantly her fav orate part! But she is doing well and the biscuits at the end make it all worth while, well done beautiful girl 🐶😀🐾

☀️☀️It’s still Hot Hot Hot☀️☀️ Controlled swimming is a great way to cool down you dog and excercise them still in this weather. **Special Offer** for existing clients, swim your dog twice in one week and second session is just £10. New clients require a vet permission to swim, call me on 07974748961 or email debbie@avonsidehydro.com for more information. Debbie 🐾

**Marshall** 5year old Marshall has been diagnosed with both hip and elbow dysplasia. He comes swimming to help build up the muscles around his joints, the warm water also helps reduce any painful inflammations. Swimming is perfect for him as a minutes swim is the equivalent of one mile run. He can do a good amount of exercise and strengthen his joints but due to the weightlessness in water and the none impact it will not damage already painful joints like running can. He wears his ear wrap as he doesn’t like the water in his ears 😀💦🐶

**Tilly** 3 year old Tilly had her first sesdion yesterday. She has had platelet replacement therapy for a ruptured cruciate. We took it nice and slowly with Tilly and had her in a boyancy jacket for extra support. She had a great time and wAs very brave not bothered by anything and loved her gravy bones after. Well done Tilly see you next week!! 💦🐾💦

**😀 China loves swimming 😀** 11 year old Chow Chow enjoying a paw massage on her 3rd visit to Avonside. She has degenerative joint disease, the warm water helps sooth her joints and reduces painful inflammation and swimming helps strengthen the joint making movement easier and less painful. She is a super star after just 3 sessions she is moving freer and is even takeking the veteran show scene by storm, but are you surprised with a smile like that ?! 🌟

See waffle swimming, he learnt with us at Avonside Hydrotherapy 💕🐾

**Teddy** 4 year old Yorkie cross cairns terrier Teddy started at Avonside just after Christmas. He was referred because of lumber pain and Back end stiffness. When he first started we needed to keep him calm and straight to build up his back muscles. He has progressed so well and as you can see loves swimming and chasing his squeaky bone. He follows the bone when he’s free swimming enabling us to work him in circles now he is fit enough building up the muscles along his back... and spine. Tighter circles help him work on his balance and core muscles making him stronger when walking on land. His reward for following the bone in circles is to have it thrown for him to retrieve in the water. He rests on the ramp but is keen to get swimming each time. When he’s had his shower he loves rubbing his ears on the towel on the floor before having his jacket on to go home. Well done Teddy your a super -dog 🐾

Our dog Paz went from lame on her back legs and unable to even get out the front door to running around with a new lease of life thanks to a few weeks of swimming with Debs!

My dog Ruby was recommended hydrotherapy after an aggressive infection in her leg to build up the muscles again and for her elbow arthritis. Debbie really put her at ease and made the whole experience fun for her. She wasn’t sure at first but now can’t wait to get in pool as soon as she gets there! Thank you Debbie...highly recommended!

User

Excellent. Truly dedicated to improving the health and happiness of your dog. Our Black Lab was overweight and had arthritic symptoms. Within a month he had lost a good deal of weight and has no mobility issues.

Dexter had his first session this week and despite being a labrador, really was not sure what to make of being out of his depth in the pool!?! Debbie knew exactly what he needed to feel more comfortable in the water. He wasn't limping on Wednesday, which is an improvement for him after any exercise. So look forward to seeing how he goes in future weeks.

Debbie is fantastic. My boy was not the easiest of customers for Debbie but she was brilliant with him, very understanding and accommodating. The hydrotherapy sessions gave him his freedom back and he loved it, often getting excited as soon as we pulled in the drive. Thank you so much for all your help and expertise!! Very highly recommended!xx

Debbie is fantastic - friendly & kind with my dog and also very professional. Myra has a partial tear to rear cruciate ligament and arthritis in a front leg. She has previously had the TPLO operation, when she ruptured her cruciate ligament ( when she was 3 yrs old)on the opposite hind leg, although this was a successful operation it was a massive one and didn't want to put her through this again. ( she is 9 yrs old now). So we decided ( with the vet) rest and then hydrotherapy, the swimming has really helped and although she can't go on extremely long walks, she can know play again and go on walks for over an hour & is a very happy doggie and is on no medication.
