Hello Coders!📢
It’s back to school time 👫 – and back to Coding Brum! Our regular monthly coding club is back this Saturday 8th September, 1pm-4pm. 🕐-🕓
It’s your chance to meet other young coders and share ideas💥, learn new things 🖲️and work together👾. We’ll have some mentors here too with ideas to get you started. ... As usual the club will be held from 1pm-4pm, upstairs in the BBC Birmingham Public Space on Level 3 of The Mailbox, Birmingham🏢 (B1 1AY). We’re here on the second Saturday of every month, and there’s no cost for the club.
It’s open to all under-18s with an interest in coding – prior knowledge is helpful but not required. Coders aged 13 and under must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for the whole session.🧑👨👩🧓👴
The club is an informal meeting – there’s no fixed programme or teaching; the aim is to give youngsters with an interest the opportunity to self-teach among their peers, or work together to learn from each other.
All coders need to bring their own hardware💻🖱️ if possible (e.g. a laptop), but we can lend you a raspberry pi if you don’t have a laptop – just let us know in advance.
Please e-mail 📧CodingBrum@bbc.co.uk if you’re planning to come – then we can make sure we have enough tables, power and biscuits.🍎🥪🍪
Parent and guardians – don’t forget if you came to the Inventathon, we don’t have chaperones at Coding Brum so you will need to stay with coders aged 13 and under.
We’re looking forward to seeing you on Saturday.
Jim, Jenny & Deta 👨‍🎓👩‍🏫👨‍🎤

Yet another brilliant tour of BBC's Birmingham studios. This was the third time we've taken the tour and it was subtly different each time. The guides, Kayla and Lindsey, were excellent and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended if you have an interest in TV and radio (and a couple of hours to spare in Birmingham city centre)

User

What a great place for kids! From the moment we walked in the man on the door was lovely and helpful, there were virtual reality tours, iPads, Daleks, beautiful Strictly dresses, the kids can film themselves being a presenter and some brilliant Dr Who memorabilia. Well worth popping in with the kids!

User

What a fantastic couple of hours. Easy to find. Staff were amazing. The place was amazing. Such an eye-opener into the real world of TV and Radio. Well worth the money too. Thank you BBC... we'll be back.

User

Unexpectedly came across this gem while doing the "Big Sleuth" in Birmingham. We asked if we could pop in to see a bear we could see through the window. The security guys were very friendly and helped us. My daughter loved the ipads and colouring and we found lots of bears! Unexpected treat to see Strictly costumes and hold the score paddles and to pretend to present Blue Peter and see ourselves on the screen. Great experience

User

The staff were wonderful, happy, enthusiastic and polite. A credit to the BBC.

User

Really interesting and fun tour of the studios. Suitable for all ages. Great experience learning how the news and entertainment we see on the tv or listen to on the radio is made. Would highly recommend.

User

Please give Peter in the visitors centre a huge well done from me! I visited be sent out whilst walking through the mailbox a few days ago comma Peter was so knowledgeable about all the technology and camera questions I threw at him. Thank you Peter for being extremely helpful.

User

Nice place to visit. Interesting and informative staff and good exhibits.

User

It was an amazing morning, was interviewed on BBC WM and then again on BBC Coventry and Warwickshire regarding my documentary on Inside Out West Midlands. Everyone was lovely and friendly. Loved every minute ❤️ It’s such a lovely place too, they also have a little area for the children. The location is perfect as you can just go grab a coffee or even a bite to eat within a walking distance 👌🏽

Finally thank you BBC Birmingham for having me ❤️

I was one of the lucky ones to win two tickets to have a look around the set of 'Doctors'.

Our guide,Debbie, was brilliant, giving us snippets of information that we would of never got to know.

Seeing where all the action happens was amazing.

Then to meet 'Mrs Tembe and Rhuma' was lovely. Two lovely friendly ladies who made us feel very welcome.

Oh and I hope Winifred doesn't ask for her pop socks back-they are MINE now .

User

I was one of the lucky ones to receive a golden ticket to visit the Doctors studio. Debbie our tour guide was brilliant, telling us all the facts about Doctors. I had a lovely day thanks to Debbie, the BBC crew and the Actors. I met Jimmy, Heston and Barry which made my day :)

User

I visited yesterday and was very impressed with Bobby and Sue, our tour guides who made this a very special trip for me as it was my birthday and they knew I am an avid Archers fan. It is very interesting and well worth a visit.

User

Great tour and the guides were very engagjng

User

From the moment we walked in the entrance we were welcomed by a friendly helpful and funny security guy. Had lots of laughs with the strictly paddles, virtual reality, weather recording, viewing the Dr who stuff and the queen Vic bust from eastenders. Even got a photo with citizen Khan. Everyone was so helpful and friendly.

User

Friendly, professional, fun and informative. Thank You Bobby, we had a great time

User

Fab local tv which promotes Birmingham at every turn. Absolutely love Shakespeare and Hathaway - want more, more, more!!

User

Excellent experience a real eye opener for what’s involved in putting together the TV daily news and behind the scenes of radio. A couple of hours well worth spent. Bobby and John are great tour guides.

User

A really fun and interesting afternoon, the tour guides were very engaging and knowledgable 😀

User

Was fun to nose around this place. Bas the security guard was very friendly and helpful. My son had a chance to record himself presenting the weather. All the other bits n bobs were interesting to look at. Shame we didn't take the tour.
