Winner of the shiniest table competition. A lovely and unusual Elm top dining table we have recently purchased. Now for sale in our shop. Would suit a farmhouse/ country kitchen or dining room. Chairs are also available.

Your very own Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet. Actually, these portraits date to a little after Jane Austen's time - around 1830. Available in our shop and would look fantastic on a large hallway wall as your very own build-an-ancestor. Sadly we do not know who they were, but you can romanticise about their story ... must re-read Pride and Prejudice - or watch Colin Firth again. (post by Nicola BTW, not Edward or Peter!!😃)

An impressive Victorian portrait we have for sale in the shop. Richard Assheton, was first viscount Cross (1823-1914) He was responsible for the first urban renewal authorization in Great Britain, the Artizan's and Labourer's Dwellings Improvement Act 1875 (known as the first Cross Act) A lawyer and banker, Cross was a Conservative member of the House of Commons from 1857 to 1862 and from 1868 until 1886. The Cross Act of 1875 empowered municipalities to buy and demolish slums and to build housing for rental. Also in 1875 Cross carried through Parliament the 'Factory Act', regulating the employment of women and children in textile mills.

A beautiful Victorian mahogany dining table we have just finished restoring. This table seats 14-16. They are quite hard to source these days, and we sold this one 'in the rough', before we had even had time to restore it, the first day it arrived in our workshop. Its nice that it has its original leaf carrier, which is a sort of sideboard that you can store the extra table leaves in when not needed.

Edward's been busy getting the new 'Oak Room' ready. Plastering, painting and electrics done. Now he's sanding the floor.
