WHY I LOVE TO RUN - I love being outdoors, I love the sense of freedom it gives you to just go out and run whichever way you like. Its training, its helped me switch off, it’s forming some routine, it releases those endorphins and most of all the dog can join me to. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I’ve had to get used to road running again - I miss the trails, but they’ll always be there and it will make me appreciate things differently when we come out the other side! ⁣⁣
It’s been so great to see all... you runners out and about in #shrewsbury (probably more than ever) and making running your priority for your daily outing (obeying social distancing rules etc). Keep it up 🙌🏻 ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I’ve got 3 days left to get 11 miles done to complete my challenge I set myself (30 miles from lockdown until 31st March).. best get running 🏃🏼‍♀️ ⁣⁣ ⁣ Have a great weekend everyone! ⁣

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐥𝐥 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮! ⁣ ⁣ This couldn’t be more true when we wake up today. Who thought we’d be going to bed last night to the most surreal day of our lives! ⁣ ⁣ I chatted to one of my running clients yesterday and said to take some time as a mental break from training and nutrition - no pressure, no time, no distance just go and run (if and when you want to) with how you feel. ⁣... ⁣ At the moment we don’t need to add any pressure to ourselves to get our training done or complete that virtual class or worry too much about making sure you eat enough protein, we’re in a situation that is literally life changing and we need to adjust to that first!⁣ ⁣ So the key message to this post is your mental health is more important than if you have completed a home workout or not eaten your usual food - don’t beat yourself up and add more stress to this situation! ⁣ ⁣ And yes things have changed, routines have changed, we’ll move less, our eating habits will be different, our sleep pattern will change but for now mentally adjust to the situation, use the time we can to get out of the house and appreciate the things we often take for granted! Everything will fall into place as and when we’ve adjusted to this new life we’re in! ⁣ ⁣ For me, I live on my own (thankfully I enjoy my own company) but know it’s going to be a mentally challenging time and I’ll share some of the positives things I’ll be working on over this time but first of all is reducing my use on social media we all know the impact social media can have so distancing myself is my top positive priority! ⁣ ⁣ But most of all keep in touch with people - I’m planning FaceTime nights out with friends over a glass of wine 🥂 ⁣

Don’t let the gyms closing be the end of your goals! ⁣ ⁣ Look at this differently and change your goals (we’re all in the same situation). ⁣ ⁣ Why not work on your nutrition, or get outdoors - why not take up running or increase your mileage, walking, home workouts the list is endless so don’t let your goals end there! I want to give my client a massive congratulations, for not only completing her first ever 10k on Sunday but her first ever race! ⁣ ⁣ Dianne came to me last year having only just started running and she wanted help to improve her Park Run time - if you ask her, she never thought she would run a 10k (in fact I think she laughed at me when I said she could do it!) ⁣ ⁣ And to top it all off she completed this in an impressive 61 minutes! ⁣... ⁣ Half marathon next 😜 ⁣ ⁣ Never let your mind, age or whatever other barrier you put up convince you otherwise... You can do it! ⁣
