Bike-Fit.Co.Uk Description

Who is Bike-fit suitable for?

To be brutally honest it is suitable for any level of rider. A poor fitting bike is not the preserve of the new rider. Many very experienced riders have positions that can be improved (sometimes radically).

During a Bike-fit our consultants analyse pedal action, foot stability, rider asymmetry, and rider interaction with both the saddle and handlebars.

We help each rider understand their interaction with the bike better and also advise them on where they can find improvements from off the bike activity – conditioning, stretching and core work.

Our aim is to get every cyclist working "as one" with their bike.

What is a bike fit? Coming from a swimming background I'd never heard of it. Well that was until I visited Bridgtown Cycles in July 2015. I had just started to race in triathlons, using my old road bike. That year I had managed to secure a place at the World 70.3 Ironman Championships, Zell am See, Austria. I knew to be as good as the best I needed a new bike. I visited Mike at Bridgtown Cycles and was offered a fantastic bike, he also offered a complimentary bike-fit.

Still unsure what a bike-fit was or how I'd benefit from one, I soon found out. I was introduced to Steve, he spent approximately 3 hours studying and altering my position on the bike. He was so confident in the work he'd done, he guaranteed I'd knock time off my next race.

The following month I raced in the 70.3 WC. My bike time was 15 minutes faster than my previous race, no pain or discomfort either.

I have since had three further bike-fits with Mike/Steve.

So, don't look elsewhere, these guys really know their stuff. They work with some very talented athletes too. It's a must if you want to progress

My advice to any cyclist reading this, whatever aspect of cycling you enjoy, be you a beginner, a club rider or a top athlete, would be this. Make sure that your bike is set up to the best it can be for your needs.

The Bike-fit Staff are the best you could ask for. Their knowledge and experience has been acquired over many years within the world of cycling. As a competitive time trialist, competing in National competitions, I have always benefitted immensely from a Bike fit session. They are meticulous to detail in ensuring that you get the optimum performance from you and your bike.

Their service is second to none and I will always highly recommend them to any rider looking to get the most from our sport at whatever level.

My TT bike supplied and fitted by Mike is my favourite bike - and not just because it looks beautiful. It is pure joy to ride. It feels fast and comfortable and as if everything is right. It perplexes me that many people believe that you have to choose between speed and comfort. They go hand in hand! Mike and his team are super knowledgeable and experienced, and they don't squander these bike fit superpowers only on the elite (though there may be a correlation, since I'd bet on most people getting faster after an excellent bike fit) - everyone I know who has met the team gets the same exceptional service.

User

It is always a pleasure to visit Bridgtown Cycles for a bike fit! I have visited with both my road bike and my TT bike several times over the years as my position and experience on the bike have evolved, and each time, I have come away with big improvements, and loads to think about. It may be a 4 hour round trip for me, but it is most definitely worth the journey.

User

I've had several bike fits over the years, on different bikes, but this one was by far and away the most comprehensive and the one where most time was spent looking at how I actually pedal on the bike, which was exactly what I needed. For the first time, I was tried with a shim under my shorter leg and it immediately made a huge difference. What was great was that the fitter, Mike, didn't start with a shim, even though I told him about my leg length difference. He worked through a comprehensive process of testing and trying changes to cleat position and other things before introducing the shim. Since then I've done my best races ever - proof if ever it was needed. Totally delighted.

I've done a lot of bike riding! And i can ride a time trial bike fast. But i've never really felt comfortable on one. I've always wanted to sit up as much as possible rather than staying aero on the bars and if i had a choice I would always choose a road bike over a TT. Mike's bike fit has changed this. For the first time ever (and i'm saying this despite 6 Ironman wins to my name!) I now feel more comfortable on my aero bars than I do sitting up. It's a real revelation! Thanks Mike. So worth the 250 mile round trip to get this done.

I first had a bike fit with Steve a couple of years ago for my new Trek bike. What I got the most out of the session was that Steve helped explain all aspects of a bike set up in a simple way and not get too technical for me. He listened to all my feedback on bike set up and helped me a lot. I now go back every now and again to check my position, always trying to improve and Steve has always been there to offer guidance. Definitely worth a visit for all cyclists that want to improve their performance

User

First up, I had a bike that didn't fit - it was too small. Steve at Bike Fit did a great job of making it fit as best he could, but it didn't stop me falling off in my next two races (can't blame Steve though). This was while I waited for a new frame to arrive. When it did there was no fuss transferring the components over and loosely setting it up for me. Then came the fit it self, Steve was very patient making sure everything was where it needed to be and that I was comfortable as well as having a good aero position. After a couple of sessions things were nearly there, a new seat seems to have solved the last discomfort. Steve loaned a test seat for an extended trial, that was really useful. Sorting a new seat can be a right ball ache (literally too)

User

Bike fits are amazing! And It is important to consider having a bike fit for all your bikes - winter, summer and racing. Having had a bike fit for my winter bike at the start of my last winter training season enabled me to train much more effectively ensuring that I was race fit at the start of the season. Great big thanks to Steve for helping me achieve the perfect bike fit which led to a great racing season

User

A big thank you to all the staff at the shop and to Mike for the hours spent with my bike fit over the years.

Don't buy a bike without bike-fit

I race long distance and a good bike fit is crucial however more important to me is the care and attention given to my teenage children in getting their bikes right. Especially for my daughter who has specific needs to make riding a bike possible and more comfortable.

A great team.
