About Birmingham City University
We are a large, diverse and increasingly popular place to study, committed to continual improvement with an innovative and practical approach to teaching.
Birmingham City University Description
With figures in the DLHE survey 2011 /12 showing that 90 per cent of undergraduates were either in employment or further study within six months of graduating, Birmingham City University has a reputation for providing high quality education in a professional and friendly environment with a focus on practical skills.
Our reputation, innovative teaching and state-of-the-art facilities - including industry-standard TV studios and mock hospital wards, courtrooms and classrooms, make Birmingham City University an attractive place to study.
Around 22, 000 students from over 80 countries study at Birmingham City University and we make sure that they are at the heart of everything we do. One of the three long-standing universities in Birmingham, we are investing £260 million in our facilities, including our new City Centre Campus at Birmingham’s flourishing Millennium Point. We have a long history of close links with Britain’s vibrant second city, collaborating with business, industry and the creative services, and our contribution to the region is reflected in the £270 million we put into the local economy, supporting thousands of jobs in the area. We also work with globally recognised names, such as Apple, Cisco and Cartier.
Offering a diverse range of highly respected courses, we are ranked third in the UK for music research (Research Assessment Exercise 2008), eighth for drama and dance and eleventh for media studies (Guardian League Table 2014), while our primary and secondary teacher training is rated as Grade 1 Ofsted 'Outstanding'.
Join our student community here on Facebook. We’d love to hear from you and we’ll do our best to respond to your enquiry during office hours. We may be able to get back to you outside office hours at certain times, such as during the Clearing period.

So far loving your intern programme. Shakti Women have hired 3 young women and we've experienced, great support staff and have 3 wonderful students who after only 2 days are adding amazing value to our team.
Love my university. Excellent environment and respect for everyone....& the lecturers are very friendly. The library and IT facilities are very useful
I love love love studying at BCU. The staff are so helpful and friendly - they really go out of their way to support and help you! The campus is lovely too and brand new! I love sitting on the campus and working during the summer.
You will learn more than a degree here and make friends for life :) Birmingham has a great nightlife, shops, and places to eat too! I'm going to miss it :(
I graduated in 2012 with a 2:1 BA (Hons) degree. I had a great experience, the tutors were excellent and supportive. Good luck to the new students starting in September! 3 years fly by so quickly!
I am planing to do my MBA in IB from Birmingham City University. How useful can it be for me as far as job is concerned? Plus, since i am in indian, is it possible to get a job in uk after doing MBA?
PS: I have rated it 5 stars since i am sure i can get a valid and honest answer from you all.
Hi my name is zainab, I'm a student and moved into my accommodation 5 days ago but I’m moving back home so I am looking for a student to take over my tenancy and I can move out immediately. I live in a 6 bed flat with 5 other roommates, shared kitchen but my own en-suite. It costs £429 per month (£99 per week) and is situated a 20 minute walk from BCU, a 5 minute drive with parking available. There is also a shuttle bus that takes you to and from BCU campus. The flat is in immaculate condition and I can move out immediately. There are loads of shops and amenities nearby and the flat itself is really spacious and welcoming. If you are interested, contact me at zainabhaqdad@gmail. I can also provide pictures of the flat if needed.
Have just dropped my daughter at BCU for the first time and wanted to say how amazing all the staff and students were. They have all made a very nerve-wracking day a complete pleasure and everything was perfectly organised. Nothing was too much trouble, everyone was completely welcoming and helpful. I am super impressed and was more than happy to leave her there knowing she will be completely safe and looked after. Free meals for both of us today and freebies in each kitchen and room were a particularly nice touch. Thank you to everyone there. Couldn't recommend BCU highly enough so far.
Had to enroll for my Masters programme at BCU Business School today. I loved the building and the cooperation of the staff.
Great, diligent, superb, distinct, scrupulous, honest, precise and just, are just some of the few words to construe its level of excellence.
Excellent teaching facility that provides an abundance of knowledge. The students all have the same situation if you are studying there. The staff are very supportive and the success rate in graduation and securing work is 90% in reference to 19 yr old studying there.
Every job is incredibly different, and I love it because you're picking up skill sets and experiences. It's the university of life.
Came here for interview yesterday and have been offered a place on the social work degree. Really think BCU is my first choice but unsure. I met a girl yesterday and I'm hoping she sees this. She's 27 from Wolverhampton had long black hair. And was of mixed race. Please get in touch. I was that nervous that I forgot her name. We spent the whole day together. If you see this message me
Studied at Postgrad level,Vast experience gained in Health nd social work in regards to mental health.Studies gave me an insight into how nd why the mind works the way it does,Hence people wonder why I am so patient the essence of understanding psychic
Oh balls, I never meant to rate this but once you've clicked you can only adjust the rating, you can't remove it.
To be honest I really wish my daughter had gone to a different uni. It really has been one thing after another and I feel like I'm banging my head up against a brick wall. Don't base your decision on open day. Everyone is friendly on open day. The cold hard reality of uni life with zero support in a town like this hits and then it's too late to back out. IMO don't do it.
Pity so many new students have been deposited in lonely hotel rooms for their first experience of University life .No contact with the campus and all possessions in storage .I think I would now be wishing I'd have chosen another Uni by this point .Communication has been poor ,just hope it gets better after flats are allocated ,they are paying for this .Terrible for shy students who came with a positive attitude ,but confidence now crushed .
My husband and I have been looking to join year 3 photography. Despite applying through UCAS, sending many emails and speaking on the phone, no one from the photography dept phoned us back. Given up now. Appalling service and £19k lost
I wouldn't recommend the fine art BA at Birmingham City University, to teach at BA level tutors are required to be qualified with a MA, check before you apply - it's your money, it's your future.
Asked for a transcript and my request was passed around to so many departements. Had been near to a month and no conclusion. Dun tink i will ever get my transcript. Needed it to apply for a job. Very disappointed.
