About Birmingham Jewellery Quarter

The Jewellery Quarter - Birmingham's Gem

Birmingham Jewellery Quarter Description

Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter has been described by English Heritage as ‘a national treasure’ . . . ‘a place of unique character’ . . . ‘a particular combination of structures associated with jewellery and metalworking which does not seem to exist anywhere else in the world’.

The Birmingham Jewellery Quarter is Birmingham’s Historic and Vibrant Gem. With over 800 businesses, 100 Specialist Retailers and 50 Contemporary Designer Makers it is still UK’s centre for Jewellery.

Shopping for gifts and presents in the Jewellery Quarter is a must. Browse through over a hundred shops for classic pieces, contemporary designs, beautiful handcrafted jewellery and bargains galore. In between the bargain hunting you can enjoy a refreshing break in one of the many pubs, cafes, bars and restaurants; as well as art galleries, museums and antique shops.

But whatever takes your fancy – jewellery, a sense of history, fine food and lively bars, a gift at a bargain price - the Jewellery Quarter has something fascinating to offer for everyone.

Years ago we visited the Jewellery Quarter to purchase my engagement ring. A day which should have been happy and memorable. It was memorable for all the wrong reasons. After visiting several jewellers who were not exactly friendly and often rude. About to leave and give up completely, we stumbled into Vault 88. What a fab place, they made me a very specific commission, which I absolutely adore. They also returned my enjoyment of a day previously overshadowed . Now my husband has become a great jeweller, meaning we get to visit the Quarter regularly. I love the vibe. We always complete our visit with a visit to Urban. We will always be eternally grateful to Vault 88 and the care and attention they showed us that day and on subsequent visits.

User

Worked here for 22 years...wow!...love the atmosphere and sense of community. Great place to find your perfect engagement and wedding rings...nice bars and restaurants aswell! Must Vyse street and the new Golden Square at the Big Peg. There is also a great jewellery museum and the Jewellery college.

User

We went yesterday to buy our wedding rings.

My fiancé' suggested the jewellery quarter as her engagement ring is quite unique and she wanted her wedding ring to match.

I was expecting a long day but we went into 'Neweys' and found exactly what she wanted thanks to the amazing staff-in particular 'John' who clearly had a lifetimes experience!

We went for pint whilst alterations were made to the ring which was clearly a bonus!

My ring was fairly straightforward and was sorted in no time. The prices were very competitive and all is good!

Thank you guys, pleasure all round.

Jo & Mark-Solihull.

User

Superb bling heaven. Good food nearby, and an amazing couple of rings bought from Stanleys where the service was unlike any usual high street chain. My first visit....but certainly wont be my last

User

So happy we went there for our wedding bands yesterday, can't wait to pick them up , people more than happy to answer all my questions I had , very good price for my diamond 💎 x

User

Living so close to Birmingham the Jewellery Quarter was our first and last choice for our Wedding Rings. We loved the choice of bespoke handmade rings and chose Crystalink Jewellers as the quality of jewellery was second to none and the customer service was excellent. Crystalink is family owned and run and this really showed in the time they dedicated to us. We feel proud to have bought locally crafted rings and to have such choice quite literally on our doorstep.

User

Just can not go wrong we go to turleys who always make our jewellery. We have been using them for over 30 yesrs now!!

Never buy from high street as i want my own inivudial design

User

It was my first visit to The Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. We visited the Museum which was very interesting and excellent value for money. Many thanks, Steve - a brilliant job!

We had lunch in Urban, then hit the shops. WOW!

What fantastic jewellery. I bit out of my league but some stunning pieces.

I will be back with Mr. Wood and the plastic next time!

User

I've worked in and around the jewellery quarter for 30 years, I still enjoy travelling there after all these years from my home in Derbyshire, it's the only place you will find that special piece of jewellery your looking for, I would not be anywhere else.

User

I visited the jewellery quarter yesterday with my fiancée to buy our wedding rings after getting quotes in goldsmiths thank god we did as we ended up wiv better quality at half the price and the staff were very friendly and helpful at neweys

User

I love this place, I wouldn't buy jewellery from anywhere else. The choice is phenomenal and prices much cheaper than high street retailers. Any resizing can be done for you within in hour or two which is so much better than having to wait a week or two. There are also lots of places who will repair or refurbish your own jewellery at very reasonable prices. Visited Coffee Tales yesterday whilst waiting for a ring to be resized, what a great place for food, drinks and a chill out. Will be coming down from Nottingham before Christmas for more retail therapy.

User

I have used Stanley's Jewellery shop opposite the grave yard for my wife's engagement ring, wedding ring and now 35 years on an Eternity ring. The most helpful people great knowledge and will make to measure. Absolutely brilliant and I wouldn't shop anywhere else when it comes to jewellery.

User

Great place to go to if you want to avoid the Elizabeth Duke and H. Samuels world of 'same'. Bespoke jewellers to convert your thoughts into reality.

Amazing coffee and cake at Coffee Tails with a bit of jazz thrown in or a cheeky pint or G&T...whatever your poison, you will find it here.

User

Great place for jewellery. Always buy mine here. Went to get my necklace repaired this time. It’s nice now that there are quite a few nice little cafes compared to 30 years ago when you struggled to get a coffee & snack. Highly recommend it.

User

Excellent service, helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommend 👍

User

Always use a small shop called Bickertons located near the train station. A family business that will make items to your specification or do repairs/alterations. A very friendly and personal shop. Can highly recommend.

User

Smashing place for bargains for that someone special...

Phenominal choices to suit all pockets and you can always get something made to your own design if you find its needed

Always look around for those back street and upstairs locations that some people overlook as they can provide the biggest savings

User

Pleasantly surprised in comparison to a previous visit

Oodles of choice

Loved Ward’s and one big one full of opal

All vendors of every shop I went in, content to open cabinets despite me purely window shopping

Interesting to know more of the mark up between sourcing stones personally and letting them do it

Their turnaround time seems quicker than with my jeweller definitely food for thought

User

It’s the first time I have seen so many jewellery shops on one street. I went to the Museum of Jewellery with my friend, it was a fabulous experience to see the worktables and understand the

story. It is still an important city to export jewellery in the world.
