The mind-altering new comedy exploring the drugs debate that won't go away...
In 2015, acclaimed British playwright Leo Butler accepted an invitation from former Government drugs tsar, Professor David Nutt, to be a guinea pig in the world's first LSD medical trials since the 1960s.
Monty Python, Being John Malkovich, and Alice in Wonderland all resonate in this exhilarating and original comedy as we watch Leo jump down the rabbit-hole of a medical trial in search of enlighte...nment - and a good story. Along the way he meets an array of characters from Aldous Huxley and The Beatles, to Steve Jobs and Ronald Reagan, whose own stories in the history of LSD are hilariously and poignantly uncovered.
Part history, party wild fantasy, this darkly humorous new play illuminates the drugs debate that won't go away and examines the freedom we have to make our own choices in life, and death.
In their 25th year, critically acclaimed theatre company Told by an Idiot collaborate with The REP and one of the UK's finest playwrights to continue to create the unexpected.
Part of Birmingham Comedy Festival.

Wonderful theatre with great seats and always has high quality productions. Glad “This House” came to Birmingham which I have seen in London and LOVED it. Hope The Rep manages to get more of James Graham’s plays if they go on tour.

Won tickets to see Tom thumb and we had a lovely time. My son is autistic and he enjoyed it. Thank you very much

User

What a lovely theatre. The performance of 101 dalmations last Saturday afternoon was fabulous. The puppetry was so good you thought you were watching real animals. Wasn’t sure if my granddaughter would manage to keep interested for the whole show as she’s only 4 but she was totally enthralled. She’s still talking about the wicked Cruella. Thank you to cast and crew.

User

Went to see 101 Dalmations today and I have to say it was amazing! What a production! It is the best show I have seen at a theatre for a very long time! The whole cast was fantastic, the stage set up, the music, the puppets! But Cruella De-Vil was awesome!

User

Saw 101 dalmations on Friday!!! Wow it was amazing!! We loved it! This is our 4th consecutive year of Christmas rep performances and they are always amazing! So well thought out and well performed!! But of them all this production, with the puppets and the amazing characters and music really captured my girls' imaginations!!!!

I took Y1 & Y2 children to see Penguins and it was genuinely magical. It’s a wonderful feeling when you hear a 5 year old say, “ this has been my most favourite day in my life, I want to spend half term just here with my family”. It’s that moment that you know we’ve just created a ‘theatre goer’. Absolutely fabulous! Well done everyone

User

Had a fantastic night last night! Bought tickets for a girls night for myself and my sister and it was brilliant. The puppetry was amazing and everyone worked so hard to put on a great show. Was so pleasantly surprised at how great it worked with the actors. Will deffo be back for more shows!

As a family we can only enjoy trips to the theatre when they are are signed or captioned performances. It is a fantastic step forward for equality in the arts that Birmingham Rep have made a unique decision to have captioned and audio descriptions for all their Nativity and 101 shows. Love that we can choose which show to attend based on what day is best for us not restricted to one night!
