Check this out!!! ūüėģūüėģūüėģ
Here we are using a plaque torch which shows buildup of plaque on the teeth as pink. Can you see this dogs canine at the front of his mouth? As it has shown up to be pink this means it is to is covered in plaque ūüėę
If this plaque is not removed it can lead to gingivitis, periodontitis disease and decay of the tooth. Leading to possible removal of the tooth under a general anaesthetic.
... To get your pets teeth checked with our plaque torch simply call and book in for free dental check with one of our nurse!! ūüíúūüíúūüíú

Did you know that rabbits teeth grow continuously and are worn down on the food that they eat.
That‚Äôs one reason why their diet is so important. Always remember rabbits should eat 80% hay, 10% pellets and 10% fresh fruit and veg. ūüźįūüíúūüíôūüźį
If you are a member of our Pet Health Club you can buy your hay and rabbit food at cost price!! ūüėģ

ūüźĺ***IMPORTANT NOTICE***ūüźĺ
Our family fun day & dog show is fast approaching and we would like to politely ask that if anyone is bringing along their dog with them to the fun day to please ensure that he or she is fully vaccinated.
This means they have received a primary vaccination course and a booster EVERY YEAR. Proof of this will be required upon registration. This is for your own dogs safety and protection due to the increase in local parvo virus cases over the last few months ūüźĺūüźĺūüź∂

This black and white cat has been bought into us this afternoon. It was found on Holt Road in Halesowen and is wearing a black flea collar. Please can you contact us if this is your cat or know who’s cat it might be! 0121 5591599

This little dreamboat, Fernando, came to see one of practices on Friday for some dental work. In total the poor little thing had four teeth removed ūüėģ
Post anaesthetic we placed him in our recovery tent to keep him quite, warm and so we could always have a watchful eye on him.
Fernando had something called a feline resorptive lesion. This is where the tooth starts to break down and is absorbed! It’s an extremely painful condition, however, some cats hide their pain as an inst...inct mechanism.
Luckly Fernando recovered well and went home the same day to recover at home with his loving mommy. ūüíôūüíô

Here is the pretty little Ruby who stayed with us to be spayed. These pictures are taken after her surgery. As you can see here she is very sleepy, enjoying snoozing on her nice comfy blankets with her medical shirt on. Medical shirts are a alternative to buster collars and prevent the patient interfering with their surgical site. They come in all different sizes. If you are interested in booking your dog in to be spayed please contact us on 0121 5591599 ūüź∂‚̧

Even though the weather has cooled down you must still think about your pet and the sun rays ‚ėÄÔłŹ
It’s not just about how hot and sunny it gets but about the suns UV rays. Did you know that UV days can penetrate 90% of light cloud cover.
Remember to always use a pet friendly sunscreen and keep out of the sun when it‚Äôs at its peak ūüėä

Have you ever heard of a pyometra?
Pyometra, also known as a pyo, is an infection of the uterus (womb). It’s a common condition in female dogs who haven’t been spayed and requires urgent veterinary treatment.
Each time a female dog has a season she undergoes all the hormonal changes associated with pregnancy. This is regardless of whether she becomes pregnant or not. The changes in the uterus that occur during each season make infection more likely with age. This life threa...tening condition can be prevented by getting your female dog spayed at a early age.
Clinical signs may include: vomiting, not wanting to eat, green/brown or bloody discharge from vulva, drinking more, bloated abdomen and collapse.

**Contains photographs of surgery** Ellie has undergone her spay procedure and everything went very smoothly during the anaesthetic! ūüźĺ she was closely monitored by one of our nurses throughout and the procedure itself took around 25 minutes! As you can see she is already awake and coming round from the anaesthetic as we would expect. Ellie is wearing a medical pet tshirt which is an alternative to the traditional buster collar ūüźĺūüíú We will update you again later on her recovery! ūüźĺūüźĪ

We came to this Practice for euthanasia for our cat when it was time, not wanting to go back to a previous practice we had become disillusioned with. It was obviously heartbreaking but ALL the staff were so kind, thoughtful and helpful it did make a huge difference to an experience we all dread. Our cat was nervous by nature but although she clearly wasn't "at one" with being in the surgery, she wasn't horribly scared either as Alan took his time in the process (having also given us a quiet-time appointment). I was actually able to be right beside her, sort of holding her as she went. I can't express how much we appreciated their care. We have had a more businesslike experience in the past and it stays part of that memory. Thank you all.

User

Thank you!!! I couldn't recommend you guys enough! Alan is a fantastic vet and all the nurses are so friendly and caring. The time and attention you all put in really does make such a big difference. I truly believe you are doing your best for your patients and genuinely love your job. These qualities make you stand out from the rest.

Teddy did not want his injections or nails cut or microchip. He did everything he could to avoid them but staff were not phased at all. After a bit of assistance the job was done.

My staffie ruby has recently had treated for a dislocated knee and could not ask for better care they have been absolutely brilliant, after care and everything else highly recommended.

My cat misty was diagnosed with a tumour and sadly had to lose her eye I can't thank the vet Alan and his nurses for the treatment and fantastic care and support they gave misty and myself

My cat Milly has been saved, yet again by Blackheath Veterinary Surgery. Mills is now 9yrs & since the age of 4 she has experienced several counts of calcium deficiency. Her poor little body dips so low it makes her beyond weak & on a couple of occasions very near to death. Thanks to the staff at Blackheath Surgery she has managed to pull through, & within hours of being seen they have put her back on the road to recovery. There is nothing worse than seeing an animal in distress & in Milly's case her condition can drop so quickly... the reassurance of knowing she will be seen promptly & get the best treatment possible, is second to none! Big thanks to Blackheath Veterinary Surgery & all staff involved.

User

Blackheath Veterinary Centre has always been brilliant with my hamsters, especially the beautiful Rosie who went in a few months back for an operation on her teeth. It was the first time Alan had done that particular surgery on a hamster, and he did a fantastic job. Unfortunately, due to nature, Rosie had recurring problems with her teeth which led to her tragically having to be put down, to prevent any more suffering. She was truly loved and had a great long life. The staff here were so wonderful, taking the time to get prints of her tiny little paws for me to have them tattooed, and even sent us a condolence card which was a beautiful touch. Thank you everyone for your wonderful work, and for taking care of Rosie up until the very end ÔŅĹÔŅĹ
