About Breastfeeding Support Herefordshire

I offer breastfeeding advice and support. I am an accredited Lactation Consultant and a member of the Lactation Consultants of Great Britain.

Breastfeeding Support Herefordshire Description

My name is Leah Gallagher and I am a certified Lactation Consultant. I offer home visits throughout Herefordshire to provide one to one breastfeeding advice and support.
In my experience women are more likely to stop breastfeeding before they are ready when they experience problems such as sore nipples, low milk supply and general infant difficulties with feeding. With the right support and advice women can overcome these difficulties and are then able to breastfeed their babies in complete comfort for as long as they want.

With Leah's help, after a challenging start to breast feeding my daughter, I went on to feed her for 2yrs.

Leah's manner, kindness and genuine support was invaluable, especially in the vulnerable time after giving birth. I cannot recommend her more highly.

We had so many problems the first 3 weeks of breastfeeding, I was ready to give up! A friend recommended I contact Leah, she got back to me straight away and came over the next day. Leah was so lovely and kind and spent 2 hours with us, she listened to everything I had to say and didn’t rush us at all. We discussed all of the problems I had encountered and she reassured me that everything would be okay. Leah observed a feeding and helped us to identify the problem with the latch, she then readjusted our positioning and gave some great advice. Leah came back a few days later and I was so much more comfortable feeding! I am now feeling more positive that we can carry on with our breastfeeding journey! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Leah to anyone having issues with breastfeeding- a invaluable service! Thanks so much Leah, you’ve really made a difference

I contacted Leah in absolute desperation after my 7 day old daughter, who had initially breastfed without complication, suddenly stopped latching overnight. After 24 hours, 2 midwife visits (they were completely nonplussed and although lovely unable to help) and lots of tears on all sides I thought it was inevitable that we would have to give up and bottle feed. I found Leah on the IBCLC website and telephoned her late in the evening - immediately I was so comforted by her kindness and reassurance that it would all be ok. She gave me some excellent advice as to how to get through the night and then arranged to come to my house first thing the following morning. I cannot describe the relief when Leah came around the following day and provided such calm, gentle and positive advice - within a few minutes I just knew that she would be able to help us and we would be able to continue breastfeeding. Within a couple of hours my baby was happily feeding again, Leah having corrected my positioning etc. Leah then came back the following day to check on our progress and was immediately contactable via telephone/email/whatsapp if we had any other troubles/questions in the meantime - I think this is one of the most valuable things, as when your baby stops feeding in the evening it is so horrific to think you have to somehow get through the night without any support. Since the initial consultation, Leah has come out several times at late notice when things have stuttered again, but finally with her support I have a 5 week old baby who is gaining weight well and a happy breast feeder - and I know that if we have any more problems or questions I can contact her. I honestly cannot recommend enough - even if you feel that things are really rock bottom and you are ready to give up breastfeeding, I have so much confidence that Leah will be your best shot at solving the problems!

I cannot recommend Leah highly enough. She had great advice and was always there for me when I needed some reassurance! I would have really struggled had it not been for Leah's support and guidance! She is a star!

Couldn't have got through the last month or so without Leah's knowledgable advice, help and support which is still ongoing. Would highly recommend.
