Tonight we had a fantastic meal and my 10 year old chose the wrong meal our waitress Emily had sorted it within minutes and the manager Hannah came over to make sure everything was ok fantastic customer service.

Have had a few good meals here ..last one being yesterday Easter Sunday.....excellenr carvery great choice of food...friendly staff. Would recommend

Greeted by a very lovely lady (didnt catch her name). She was very happy and very polite. Exactly the type of person you want to be greeted by early the morning. All the food was cooked perfectly and tasted spot on. I especially liked the fact that there were little portions of nutella for my croissant. This made my morning. Overall great experience all round. Would definately go again and recommend to friends. Thank you.

I had a booking for a table of 5 yesterday. When we arrived there was no one at the front to greet us so we just found a table ourselves. When I ordered food at the bar, the staff were very kind and helpful and the food came quite quickly. When the food arrived, they had got one of the little boys orders wrong and bought sausage and mash instead of sausage and chips, so we asked for the sausages to simply be taken off the mash and put onto a plate with some chips. They took the plate back but didn't bring it back for over 15 minutes and the 3 year old was quite upset. Unsure what took so long! Other than that, the food was nice and I would come again.

Both my grandsons have food allergys, one to soya the other has to be gluten free. The manager (didn't get her name) was excellent, there was quite a good selection on the children's menu for soya free, but not for gluten free, I think the only thing was a gammon steak, but the manager suggested that he could have things ,with the gluten element taken out. But it would still be nice if your menu had more gluten free choices. It seems more and more people have a reaction to gluten now, perhaps when you next do your menu change, you could consider this.

It's my local and it pains me I was so disappointed with their "festive" menu. Tuesday evening and no Turkey for the Turkey dinner!!! The chicken wasn't even roast chicken replacement, it was glorified chicken breast burger meat.

They offered us a bottle of wine and free desserts. The desserts were already part of the deal. They cancelled our bill for the dinner part in the end. They were very courteous and no fuss was made.

This was our Xmas dinner with friends so it actually became just a night out at the pub with grub. Disappointed.

User

It was early Saturday night and they didn’t have items on the menu. Pleasant atmosphere, however the food is average my burger was under cooked. The staff there replaced my burger with a whole new meal.

User

Arrived and shown to our table order drinks at the bar service was very slow placed food order and quickly arrived to us which there was no problems. Went outside for fresh air told the girl we will be back on return empty plates was left on the table but yet full drinks were taken away... Prices for drinks seemed expensive

Used to go here quite a bit a couple of years ago and decided to go for a nice meal today. As I walked in I noticed the carvery and thought it looked really nice, so I decided to give it a try. The service was great and the staff was really nice (in particular the waitresses and carvery server). The food however was a different story. Though the turkey was nice, the gammon was vile and I had to spit it out. The stuffing was awful, as was the swede and carrot mash. Normally I don’t complain but I felt I had to let the staff know. Myself, sister and mother waited for a waitress to come and ask us how the food was (as she did when she served us our starters, which were actually good I must point out) so I could tell her that I wasn’t satisfied with the food, no one came. So I eventually went to the bar to order some dessert and mention about my meal. I was then confronted by the manager ‘mark’ as I was trying to explain about my dissatisfaction with the food. He immediately got his back up and repeatedly said that if I had mentioned straight away he could’ve done something. I could appreciate what he was saying but his attitude was quite frankly horrendous. He banged on about how they aren’t a beef eater and they do not ask you how your meal is if it isn’t a table service meal (although my sister ordered the ribs which was table serviced). He then continued to express how the establishment worked as if it was general knowledge and spoke to us as if we were idiots. It’s not like we work there and know the ins and outs of the service. I have never complained about food in my entire life and never been through a process of complaint but Mark did not make this a nice experience. His customer service skills need to be assessed and he could probably attend a couple of classes in how to deal with complaints. I’m normally a very calm person but I was extremely close to saying something about his attitude. He did not allow us to speak more than three words and was very abrupt. After he rudely explained how they worked he then said that we now know for next time. Fat fucking chance there’s going to be a next to with that tosser behind the bar. Apologies for the language but he really riled me.

Also my sister and I enjoyed our dessert but my mother thought her crumble was shit.

Yours.

I went here last year food was fantastic.... It cost me £2,49 for 2slices of garlic bread that weren't even toasted n I had salmon pasta which had one prawn and one piece of salmon this year I would never go again extremely disappointed!

User

Have to be honest im shocked this morning been here before an no issues at all. Went for breakfast his morning with my friend. Ordered two breakfasts and well took 20minutes to arrive an well my friends breakfast had oil all over the plate. He then asked for replacement plate on arrival the beans was stone cold. Looked at my plate had to use three napkins to remove oil that i could see on the plate. Beans tasted odd aswell.. given up eating to be fair. Was a put off. Manager came out an apologized and offered to cook food again... stated i would pay for the drink an continental pastries as such. But fair play manager said i did'nt have too..

Manager an waitress could not fault just cooked breakfast complete let down which was a shame..

User

Have had a few meals here and in the whole there has not been any issues. Today we dined and I had beef from the carvery. It was tasteless. It was full of gristle. Unable to chew it so all left. The rest of the dinner was fine but certainly let down by very poor beef. Can I also point out that rare beef (not medium as the blood flowed from it) is not to everyone’s taste.

User

Went for what was supposed to be a lovely meal with my mother, really wish I hadn’t we were informed after returning our bottomless soft drinks to the bar because they were just syrup that only the Pepsi max had been working all weekend. The waitress made it more difficult than it should have been to get a new drink.

I ordered the new salmon and prawn pasta dish which consisted of one small lump of salmon, 3 small prawns and one very small lump of pollock with a fair bit of pasta and a mountain of rocket or whatever the green sh*t was. Considering I paid nearly £10 for this dish I was highly unimpressed the only reason this review is even getting a star is because my mom enjoyed her scampi.

Will definitely not be returning, not worth your money in the least wouldn’t bother wasting your time.

User

Went for dinner yesterday and my mom ordered a steak to be well done and it came out with blood still in it bright pink and oozy all over the plate. My mom had put salt and vinegar on the chips and started eating them before the waiter took her meal back. The meal came back and the steak had been cooked properly this time but it had been brought out on the exact same plate as the chips still had the salt and vinegar on them and the peas were cold the chips were just warm enough to eat! Then my mom ordered the Belgian waffle for pudding, we waited about half an hour/45 minutes for our puddings when they came out my moms Belgian waffle was rock hard she couldn't even cut it with the spoon

User

Terrible food and drink.

late September myself and a group of friends came here for dinner.

We ordered drinks and waited over an hour and a half for them because they were cocktails...? then when they did arrive they were the worst cocktails id ever tasted.

then 3 of my friends ordered steak 1 was barely medium when medium was asked for. second was medium when it was asked to be blue and third was charred and extremely tough when it was also asked to be medium. One steak was sent back as my friend was left sitting for 20 minutes waiting for her pepper sauce and her food went cold. What she got back wasn't much better. My main was ok nothing special my my desert was disgusting and i couldn't finish it. i got a Belgian waffle and ice cream. there was a terrible taste from it almost like mold i couldn't find any on it as it was covered in ice cream but it made me feel sick so i didn't finish it. Me and all of my friends were extremely disappointed and will never come back here again.

User

Ridiculous place to eat! Not allowed to change my chips to a jacket potato without paying extra. Then for peas to be changed to a little side salad... an extra 2.49. STAY AWAY wanna be healthy people!

User

In future I will go to another place to eat as both the food and friendly service the Clock Tower once prided itself with seems to have deteriorated into a complete and utter disappointment.

To begin with my family and I waited nearly 10mins to be seated in a half empty restaurant area it was only when I approached the Manager (Kenton) who was standing behind the bar area that he told me to go and find myself and family a table ourselves, which we did.

The food and service was appalling, the staff did not even smile and there was not enough cutlery on the table. I ordered a burger with sweet potatoe chips and coleslaw, the burger was dry and cold and the coleslaw tasted bland. I ordered a childs burger for my daughter, which was exceptionally dry and hard and she could not eat it. My husband ordered lamb shank which again was bland and cold, a total waste of money.

After we had eaten what little we could I took my son to the toilet and the rest of my family stood near to the doors leading out of the pub, when i came out of the toilet we realised we didn't have our car key. My daughter went back to the table we had eaten on to find some of the table had been cleared and the key had been taken. I asked the Manager (Kenton) if he had been handed a car key from our table and he basically answered in 5 words saying 'I've not been give any key' and walked off. He showed no interest or concern that a key had been stolen from the table of an establishment he was the manager of. When I told him he was of no help and seemed stand offish he told me he had an hearing problem and walked off into the kitchen. At no time did he help to look for the key until a helpful staff member called Linzi went out of her way to look for the key and she also inquired at the premier inn if a key had been found and explained to their staff about out situation. I informed the manager Kenton I was calling the police as the key had been stolen and asked for his name along with the staff who had served us at the table. I told him I was totally disappointed in the overall service and especially his attitude, he apologised about his attitude and assured me every bin

and toilet had been checked, but it was all too little too late, we left our number with him incase the key turned up and called the AA and waited outside to report the incident to the police.

One hour later I received a phone call from someone in the Clock Tower to say our car key had been found, no explanation of , where and by whom.

I will never use this pub ever again, there are far better establishments offering better quality food and with staff who offer a much better and friendlier service. My true rating for the Clock Tower is actually 0

I've never had a problem with The Clock Tower in the past, but after last night's meal I have to leave a review. We went for a family meal last night. Granted we arrived just after 9pm, however, food is served until 9.50pm so we didn't anticipate a problem.

I'd like to remind staff that people dining out are there to enjoy themselves, so at least one smile from the staff serving would have been appreciated. There was a lack of eye contact, and 'stand offish' service throughout. No checkbacks at all. We didn't feel very welcome, and while I do appreciate staff want to finish early on a Friday night, making guests feel rushed is not appreciated. My rack of ribs arrived cold in the centre, but it seriously felt like it would have been too much of an effort to raise it with the non-attentive staff, there were also a few other problems with our orders.

The final straw came in the form of my son suffering with severe vomiting and stomach cramps at 4.30am this morning, following what I can only assume was rushed service in the kitchen preparing his 'New Yorker' burger. Food poisoning was not an option on the menu!

Extremely unhappy, and will be taking this further.

I have been going to the clock tower for a long time ,tonight the 30th Dec ,I decided to take some very close friends and family for a meal ,disappointed is putting it mildly, the soup was cold ,my friends steak was like liver, and the team leader was as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike. It will be a long time before we come again .

Ridiculous place to eat! Not allowed to change my chips to a jacket potato without paying extra. Then for peas to be changed to a little side salad... an extra 2.49. STAY AWAY wanna be healthy people!
