You have no idea how happy I was to have vegetarian /vegan Chinese restaurant across the road from my hotel after a long journey. great food, good value for money and I left fat and happy.

User

Thank you Cafe soya! Our Christmas party was amazing!! You really looked after us and my work colleagues! The food was amazing and karaoke is the best thing ever!

User

Second visit yesterday and another great experience. A brilliant menu full of options for vegetarians and vegans but still plenty of meat options too. So much choice and very tasty food and generous portions. Great wine and drinks menu too.

User

One of my favourite places to eat, always a joy. Went last night before the theatre and it was fabulous. It is great to be able to visit with vegetarian/vegan friends as their version of the menu is as good as the meat one, if not better!

User

Lovely vegan food Definitely recommend it

User

I’ve been here several times and loved it. However, both restaurants were closed yesterday ( Thursday 25th April). Does anyone know if this is a permanent arrangement?

Had a private karaoke party at Cafe Soya for my 30th birthday with a mix of vegans, vegetarians & meat eaters. All the food was delicious, the karaoke was really fun and the staff were so friendly & helpful. Can't recommend enough!

User

Great choice of very tasty food served fresh and plenty of it. Lovely staff. I would recommend it to anyone - especially vegetarians as they have a great choice on the menu. We've been here lots of times and it's one of my favourite places to eat x

User

Fantastic place for vegetarians and vegans, as well as non-veg. The waiter was great and attentive, quick to process the order and provide the bill. He even asked if I was vegan and if egg was okay for the dish I ordered.

The Papaya salad is the best thing!

User

Came here the other day with my work colleagues Booked the karaoke room & buffet. It was literally so fun! For 20 quid a head it was definitely worth it and would recommend to anybody looking for a great time and food!

User

Beautiful food.very good service I recommended to all vegans and vegetarian people.

User

Great fresh food with some inventive veggie and vegan alternatives, good sized portions served piping hot. If I had 1 criticism it was that it was chilly in the cafe

User

Food was lovely... Fantastic variety and all very tasty!! Super portion sizes, unless you have a huge appetite, you may well struggle to eat a starter and main meal!! I had to 'doggy bag' half of my main meal to take home!

Couple of issues with the bill at the end of the night but this could be due to the fact that we were a large party all paying separately and they were quite busy in there!

Would definitely go again and recommend to others!

User

I have been to the smaller branch in The Arcadian which was absolutely lovely, food and service alike.

This past weekend myself and a group of friends went to the main branch for an afternoon meal which I had booked at least 3 weeks in advance if not longer, on arrival we had to wait as there was no table available for us (fortunately we were also waiting for guests).

Once seated it seemed as if staff kept forgetting we were there.

The wait for the food was terrible and attitude from the staff who served us was abysmal.

The only winner that afternoon was the food, their food is awesome but customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

Then at the end of our meal they gave us the bill in a language we couldnt read, which did have prices on and expected us to know exactly what was on there. Due to a staff member not counting our money correctly we were nearly charged £10 extra....thank God for the financiers of our party.

I would definitely go back to the smaller branch with a smaller party, no questions asked but the main branch left a bitter taste in my mouth

User

Went last night... waited over an hour to have food arrive which all the order didn't turn up, it came in drips and drabs and food a hairdryer in my partners meal and when questioned about it to have them say it wasn't a hair.... Won't be returning...

User

We have been coming here fairly regularly for a while now. We love the food and the service has always been ok However, today was a very different story...granted it was the Chinese New Year, so it was busier than usual, but we waited a whole hour and our starters had still not arrived. Meanwhile, other guests were arriving after us and getting their food very quickly. After 25 minutes we started asking how long the food would be and we kept getting fobbed off with excuses. After one hour, we’d had enough. A staff member had the cheek to try and bill us for our drinks (he managed to do that quickly and efficiently). We declined, saying it was an absolute cheek after waiting so long for nothing! We then left and won’t be returning again. We’re very very disappointed as we loved eating there.

User

This used to be a great place but too many times they’ve served up meat in so called vegetarian dishes and vegetarian satay with shrimp paste which could have killed someone with a crustacean allergy. If they can’t get the simplest thing right like for people with allergies I certainly don’t trust their ability to do anything else right either.

They’re totally disorganised and will serve up your starter after your main and nobody seems to know what they’re doing. Avoid like the plague, especially now they have a chef in the smaller cafe in the Arcadian who refuses point blank to cook vegetarian food. Cafe Soya would do well to remember not everyone eats vegetarian because they love animals, some do it because they have allergies or religious reasons. There are plenty of other places around now who’s can provide good food and good service. Give this one a miss.

Me and my friends visited cafe soya yesterday and I must say that the overall experience was pretty terrible. As we arrived we were shown to our table by a very grumpy member of staff that basically slammed our menus in the table. We waited 20 minutes before someone actually came over to take our drinks order. When our starters arrived the waitress wasn’t able to tell us which one was which. When ordering our mains, a couple of my friends asked if their meals could come with the sauces on the side to which the waiter said yes and I asked to have my broth with egg noodles however when the meals arrived the sauces were already mixed in the dish and my broth was served with udon noodles. Not to mention the literally throwing of the dishes in the table partially spilling them. Later on when a couple of my friends decided to use the restroom they told us that one toilet was blocked and the other had no toilet paper and not lock on the door. As leaving the restroom my friend slips in a puddle of water and falls on the floor hurting her back, baring in mind there was NO wet floor sign anywhere around the area, big health and safety violation. When I decided to ask for the bill we were presented with a manual written recipe in Chinese to which none of us could work out what was actually written in it.

Overall it was a pretty terrible experience where the staff did not make us feel welcomed at all.

User

Don't know what was in the food but threw up after a few hours. Didn't digest. Food lacked flavour - needed more of a kick. Pool of syrup with chicken in the middle of it. This was at the bigger branch. Won't return. It's a shame because had some good family meals in there.
