Today I had the great honour of leading the funeral of a lovely lady who spent most of her life in residential care. Her friends and family sang,and some danced along to her favourite songs from the shows and we scattered a blanket of leaves into her grave. Making sure a funeral is fully inclusive takes time, and a lot of thinking, but today when I looked out and saw the love in the room I felt truly blessed. Are We Humanist? With Humanist marriage becoming legally recognised in Scotland and Ireland you might be thinking that all Celebrants will be able to legally register marriages. In the future we may well also see the law change in England. The legislation is designed to give people with no religion the right to be married in a totally non spiritual way. I am not humanist, for me it feels a bit like exchanging one uncomfy suit for a different one. As an Independent celebrant... I have no restriction on the way in which I conduct wedding ceremonies, I prefer to work with the individuals to make something that reflects their wishes. Without the label of one faction or another and with no legal restriction because we have separated the registration of your marriage to be done elsewehere, I am happy to include memorial elements, spiritual elements and in fact elements reflecting any belief system or none. Don't be the couple who regret their ceremony!

I am fully trained as a Family Ceremonies and Funeral Celebrant. This means that I am able to conduct Weddings, Vow Renewals, Naming ceremonies and Funerals with a semi or non religious content. The ceremony can be as intimate or interactive as you wish.
My membership of the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants gives you an assurance that I you are investing in a high quality service. I am fully insured and registered as a data controller under the terms of the Data Protect...ion Act.
Getting married Weddings are individually written to reflect the person or people involved. I can include a range of symbolic ceremonies including Unity candles, hand fasting, sand ceremony, ring warming, jumping the broom etc. I am happy to marry couples of any gender combination, as long as you love each other then let's do it!
Welcoming a child For baby naming ceremonies, I offer anointing and encourage godparents or parent supporters to make their own commitment to the child. I try to involve little guests so they won't get bored!
Renewal of Vows When a couple are celebrating a big anniversary or coming through a difficult time a vow renewal is a perfect way to celebrate their continuing love and commitment to each other. A small ceremony at home or a big blowout? Either way I can deliver a beautiful and bespoke service.
Funerals When a loved one dies it is important that their friends and family come together to release emotions and to celebrate life. A celebrant led funeral gives an opportunity to remember the good times, acknowledge the bad and comfort each other. Each funeral is individually written in partnership with the family.
