User

When you normally go to a restaurant, you go the food. Myself and my girlfriend go to the Old Mill for the experience. It is our favourite place and although we have to travel quite a distance, it is definitely worth it. From the welcome, to the service and the excellent food; everything is perfect. I would highly recommend this hideaway to anybody. You never feel rushed and you are always made very welcome. We're looking forward to returning very soon.

User

Went today as a group of 6 adults and 1 toddler. Food was beautiful , Si dealt with us and was brilliant. Would defintley return!

User

We visit here at various times during the year, and we have our family Boxing Day meal here every year. Considering we are a big party of 15, the food arrives hot and everyone is served at the same time. The service was excellent and the staff very friendly and cheerful. Food was great as usual.

User

We had a lovely family catch up and meal for 5 of us today. Service was friendly and timely. Food was all very tasty and hot. Overall a good experience. Thank you.

User

Very impressed with the food and the puppy loved her scrambled eggs that were cooked especially for her! Thank you!

User

Very efficient friendly staff, comfortable surroundings with a very cozy atmosphere. Food was lovely and cooked very well there was no "rushing" us through the service which can happen at some places, over all my wife and i had a very pleasant evening. The booking of the table online was very straight forward and easy.

User

This place is just FAB! Have stayed here pretty much every week for the whole year and can't complain about anything! Whether by myself , with a few or with a crowd, we've been looked after fantastically on every occasion! Top Food, Top Rooms, Top Service & the best staff - just a great place to be :)

User

The staff were help and friendly very enjoyable stay Clean and comfortable The food was tasty as well A bit unhappy we went to pay the bill for Phil's breakfast £7.99 my cold is getting the better of me decided a slice of toast no butter or spread and they charged us £5.99 ie continental breakfast not impressed Shame they also made mistakes on which had been paid for already and wanted to charge another £50 got sorted after half an hour still Not Impressed xx

User

The food was lovely and the staff were really friendly, was seated really quickly and food came out promptly would definitely recommend

User

Such a classy place to go for a meal with my friends. A bit noisy, as it is a popular place, but we were lucky to have a table by the far window where it was lovely.

User

Only been a handful of times but never fails this place! Delicious food and very welcoming staff. Definitely would recommend this establishment.

User

Love it here the food is always amazing. The service nice and quick. Which is a bonus as I usually have 2 hungry children with me.

User

I have had a couple of meals from the lunch menu over the past month. Firstly with a work colleague and more recently with a large family group.

On both occasions the staff were friendly and helpful and went that extra mile for my cousins wife who is a celiac sufferer. The outside dining area is lovely and the food was good quality and very reasonably priced.

I would definitely recommend The Old Mill.

User

Great food, service at the bar a little slow. - over all very nice place.

User

Great food and atmosphere. Not been here for a few years but gland I did. Lovely place to catch up with friends after being away so long.

User

Good service & very good food 👍🏻👌🏻🍴🍴🍴🍴

User

Good quality food and service. Good atmosphere and excellent location. Pleasant staff.

User

Friendly, attentive staff. The pub is nicely decorated. Food was great.

User

Fabulous old world pub, as the name would suggest, with great staff, fantastic service, delicious food and a good range of refreshment

User

We took our young granddaughter with us and she had a lovely time totally enjoyed her meal and commented that if the food is this nice she will come back not bad from a 5year old.

Our food was lovely too..the pork belly was succulent and the ceaser salad with chicken my husband had was excellent.

Staff very good attentive but not too much .

Overall a lovely evening and we will definitely return

User

We live locally and eat here quite often. We have always found the food to be very good albeit there is sometimes a long wait when they are busy (which we don’t mind as long as we are told before ordering). However, a few weeks ago I was most surprised to hear that they had run out of Bacardi ( amazed that their stock control hadn’t pick up that they were low). Then on our last visit we decided to sit outside but found the table had been cleared but not cleaned. I ask behind the bar for wet tissue to clean it myself and they very kindly obliged. This made me smile as I expected the reply on my request should have been ‘ we will send someone out to clean it’ even when the lady outside could see me cleaning it she never came over. As people have said before lovely staff but need customer training.

User

Really nice old place with original features. Could do with the floodlights being switched on in the car park though. Pitch black when we left earlier at 18.30

User

Nice friendly staff, attentive at breakfast, took orders very quickly.

Iron wasn't brilliant, but I mentioned it to reception and got a brand new one that night. Shower was great pressure & good temperature controls. Comfortable bed, nice sized room. I could see the rive from my window which was nice.

Unfortunately breakfast being served late on Sat wasn't communicated and caused a challenge as I needed to eat early.

The decor is nice, comfortable and stylish in an understated but quality way. I liked it, would recommend.

User

Had lunch today. Food was lovely as always but the slow service was quite off putting. Seems that not enough waiting staff to adequately deal with the number of tables they are allocated. Our waitress did her absolute best but obviously had too much to do. Have booked for new years eve but hope that service improves. Employ more staff and keep your regular customers happy.

User

Had a meal here with three friends. Excellent food and service as always. Always able to accommodate the four of us, two in wheelchairs and one with a gluten free diet.

User

Fast Service at bar with ordering and paying, staff friendly, lovely pub, just found had long waits for food and between courses. Personally think was Overpriced for kids squash.

User

four of us went the waitress was not really interested and not really helpful. food was ok it was luke warm . made a suggestion about the food but took it personally. overall nice place

User

Went on a Tuesday nite.

It was quite busy but got a table in the bar and ordered food. I asked what time they served food till and they said 10 pm.

We ordered at 830 but I had to ask at 915 where the food was. It then came out quite quickly but had clearly been forgotten about. The fish sharing platter was cold and the sauce had a skin on it as the sauce had cooled down . The burger and chips were also luke warm .

We have eaten here before and it was very good but this experience has put me off as thee was not much care about it.

Shame has the Game menu looked lovely and it is one of my favourites for my birthday.

I would only give it a 3 star because of this

User

We were there for a bank holiday Saturday but seemed very out of sorts. We sat in an area with no table numbers and the queue to order was very slow. Menus are not on the tables you have to try and find them. Regarding the disabled toilets being the furthest place away possible within the ladies toilet , the mens is in the hub of the bar area!! Food was ok but not what was on the menu.

A Greene King pub the Chef and Brewer line but I must admit that the White Lion at Radford Semele is far better.

User

We are frequent visitors here and usually love it. However, we have just arrived home from the old mill today and have to say we are really disappointed. The food which the kids has was great as usual -its always good. The lad that served us behind the bar was unfortunately a bit less up on his customer service skills that we are used to here! When we complained about the wine being not up to the usual standard for some reason he was rude and walked off. He looked like he couldn't be bothered. He then proceeded to come and try to take the children's plates whilst they were clearly mid meal, knives and forks in hand! It's a shame that he let this place down as its usually such a lovely atmosphere with great staff. Will Still return as we love it here.

User

Previously stayed here in May and everything was fine, stayed last night and things were not so good, don't get me wrong it was very busy but a lot of the staff seemed new and unsure so service at the bar was very slow but the evening meal was good. Things definitely took a turn for the worst at breakfast with the food cold or uncooked, we sent ours back twice before giving up and it seemed many tables were having the same problems, waiting staff dealt well with the complaints and we were not charged for breakfast, a couple sat opposite informed us they had the same problem with their evening meal last night and it was their 45 year wedding anniversary.

Seems they need to take a close look at kitchen staff and equipment and get things sorted or they will lose customers.

User

I have been going to this place for years with my wife and kids. We even stay at the hotel. The staff are great and very friendly. We went for our Christmas dinner on Monday at £70 a person. I have had meals there before for half that price and they've been better. If you base each coarse as £23 a bowl of soup then the Christmas dinner which was good value then the Christmas pudding a very small slice with 2 spoonfuls of custard on a dinner plate. I also thought the wine menu for the day was very over priced so we didn't bother. It seems to me I was being overcharged for the fact it was Christmas day. Nothing different from all the times we have been there justified that. The staff were excellent so I just let it go. It was the most expensive of all the other places and I feel we got less. In fact I'd say I've had better value at a Toby Carvery. Would it stop me going again No. Just not at a festive time with those prices.

User

Food was good, tables were dirty inside and out and we had to clear and clean our own. Service at the bar is very slow.

User

Unfortunately yet again our meal was not nice at all. Service is good. Just wish for the price you are paying the meals should be of high standard. Needs some mystery diners. So the company know where to improve. Feeling disappointed.

User

The food here was lovely, just a shame the waitress that served us was incapable of taking down our order as we had asked for it. We were given a main and a lunch menu together but when ordering we ordered and showed her what we wanted on the lunch menu. Food came out and like I said was really nice no complaints there until the bill came and she had charged us the price it costs to have it off the main menu. The waitress did not give us a choice of having it off the main menu or lunch menu and as it was between 12-4 we were within the lunch menu time. She accused us of lying and told my partner he had specified he wanted ‘cod & chips’ when he had just simply asked for fish and chips from the lunch menu. Refused to change the price of the fish and chips so we were charged full price for something we didn’t ask for. Some basic customer service skills wouldn’t go a miss and maybe to listen to what the customers are asking for. Without a doubt would not go back after being made to feel like a lier!!

User

One Star! Looking to book a table for the weekend, my dad being a guide dog user. Phoned only to be told “I have to check with my manager to see if this a legal requirement?” I replied it is the lady went to check 3 minutes later the phone was disconnected. Phoned again only to be told “we will have to take your number”. We were looking to sample the menu for my dad’s 60th, many thanks for your ‘friendly’ hospitality. It would be helpful to make your staff aware of the ‘Disability Equality Act 2010’ Thanks!

User

Just tried to book a table for a birthday with a weeks notice for 18 people. I fully appreciate that it is a lot of people, but for a Monday night to be VERY rudely told by the woman on the phone that they cannot accommodate such a large number at once was very weird. Considering the fact that on a Monday evening I highly doubt it will be so busy that they cannot get 18 plates of food out was actually quite humorous. Very rude customer service and will not be visiting in the future!
