Chung Ying Garden Description
Chung Ying Garden is one of the largest and most popular Chinese restaurants in the Midlands. Established since 1987, the restaurant was formed on the back of the success of its sister restaurant, Chung Ying Cantonese Restaurant.
We serve traditional Cantonese cuisine as well as over 100 dim sum dishes.
The restaurant has a capacity of over 380 people, split into two levels. The upstairs venue is perfect for weddings, birthdays, business meetings and conferences. There is a dance floor and karaoke facilities which are very popular amongst our customers.

For those of you who aren't chopstick-wielding extraordinaires, we do offer knives and forks...
we have been coming to the chung ying garden for several years in fact we arrange the 2.5 hour trip to birmingham just to go there
The smallest of the three Chung Ying restaurants in Birmingham. Is as popular with the locals and theatre goers as the others. The menu is comprehensive including dim sum as well as the more popular mains. Food is excellent and we'll presented. Steamed dumplings are perfect and the spicy chicken spring rolls sublime. Service is fast and courteous. For the less adventurous knives and forks are available on request. Never had a bad meal here either dim sum or classic Chinese. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant.
The best chinese restaurant in Birmingham. Excellent for parties, dancing and karaoke during the weekend.
I won a meal for 6 in this restaurant. We went Saturday night&had the Chinese New Year Banquet meal, worth £28 each. It was my first time here&I was very impressed. The food was quality&of very generous portions, very tasty indeed. Despite being extremely busy for Chinese New Year the staff were very attentive, helpful&friendly. I will definitely go here again, the food was delicious
Good atmosphere. Excellent menu with so much choice, large portions well presented, staff were very good , polite and friendly. Our first visit- the next time we are in Birmingham we will definitely come to your restaurant again.
Food was awesome, quick service and friendly staff. Looking forward to coming back soon.
Fabulous venue for a meal or a party. Food is delicious and the portions are very generous. Private hire rooms upstairs have a stage and set up for live bands plus there is karaoke in all rooms. The staff are always friendly and keen to help. Always have a great evening there!
Amazing each time, food is delish, service was quick friendly and always consistent. Waiters always made our two little boys feel welcomed here and they both leave smiling and with loads of lollipops lol. Overall i recommend the restaurant very highly to try x
All of the Chung Ying restaurants in the city centre are great. Wonderful food and immaculate service in lovely environment. My only slight grumble would be that I have twice tried to call in after a theatre show and service was over, but that's my fault for not organising myself prior to a show. I can't fault the food, great drinks menu or ambience. Definitely worth a visit, it's easy to be overwhelmed by the choice of restaurants in China town but this little gem is well worth seeking out.
Absolutely gorgeous food, I would definitely recommend a visit. We shall be returning
Absolutely fantastic food with an incredible menu. Our friends are vegan so had plenty of items to choose from. My favourite dish here is the venison cooked with just chilli, garlic then wrapped in a paper bag, it's just amazing thank you again for our feast last night, can't wait to return!
We had our Christmas Party here the last two years. The food was great, I felt a little guilty as there was so much left of the main courses as we had so many starters. My only little grumble would be that two of the mains seemed to battered and made them a little greasy. We had a great time singing karaoke and dancing the night away. Fab time and really reasonable for the time of year.
It was very busy & we had to ask for our mains , but the food was wonderful & we'll definitely go back again .
It's a difficult one, first time there, menu was extensive, food tasted fabulous, but I got food poisoning, and my husband who had a small amount of my food got a bad stomach. I hope it was a one off, and ordinarily I'd have given it 5 stars, but I can't really. Shame.
I've always thought very highly of here & visited every time we are in Birmingham without fail! I've also highly recommended to others. However, our last visit was very disappointing. Our dishes weren't all served together, we had a rice & one dish served & it was a good ten minutes before our other dish came. Which you don't want. It also meant he rice & first dish served were cold by the time the dish did finally arrive. I also found the whole experience very rushed & the waiters not very friendly. Are real shame.
I don't usually write reviews arrived yesterday afternoon with friends. I'm not sure if they were in a bad mood but our servers were unfriendly. I didn't feel very welcomed. The young girl who cleared are table was extremely polite. The meal was great that was the only downside.
Have been several times in past few years and always impressed at the varied menu. I ate lovely green lipped mussels but meal slightly spoiled by piece of broken chopstick in rice... to be fair they apologised and knocked 20% off bill!
Food look better than it tasted to be honest but maybe I went for the wrong dish.. salt n pepper chicken wings .. very dry n no authenticity but hey... decent portion size x
Ate here a couple of months ago and food & service is great at a reasonable price. Had my Hen do here last night. Booked the Christmas Banquet with Karaoke. the food was great and lots of it. Unfortunately we were the only group upstairs. I know the bookings can't be controlled but we were a bit lost in the big stage room. A phone call explaining the lack of interest on this particular night might have helped and maybe we could have eaten downstairs and not had the Karaoke. Some of us can be accommodating when approached.
