To climb harder most often it’s not just a matter of becoming stronger but simply….. better! Whether you are a beginner looking for a way to improve your climbing and become the next climbing master or you have been climbing for some time now, but it seems like you are stuck at a certain level and you can’t progress - our Improve Your Technique Course may be the solution you have been looking for. Over 4 weeks (6 hours in total) we will show you how to climb more effectively ...and efficiently. How to avoid most common mistakes and how to turn gravity to work with you when you are climbing. In details we are going to look at: • Week one – different types of holds, how to use them effectively and how their position indicates climber’s positions (straight arms, bodyweight over one foot, hips close to the wall), the centre of gravity and what it’s got to do with climbing, staying in balance (rock over) • Week two – footholds and footwork (foot swap, smearing, heel hooks, toe hooks) • Week three – climbing steeper walls (flagging, inside/outside edge) • Week four – consolidating and working on projects (brushing up skills and applying to chosen climbs)

A comprehensive start into the thrilling world of climbing. This course runs over 3 sessions plus an assesment on the 4th week including your entry with each session lasting 1.5 hours. During this course you will learn essential skills needed to climb safely including using a harness, tying in, belaying and more, and we will also introduce you to the art of climbing movement and technique. Adults completing this course to the instructors satisfaction will then be allowed to c...limb unsupervised in the centre. Who is this course for? •Anyone who's attended one of our Taster Sessions and is looking for the next step •Adults who've climbed a little in the past but want to get back into it •Boulderers who are looking to progress to roped climbing •Supervised climbers who wish to progress to unsupervised climbing •Adults who would like to belay their children on ropes at Climbing the Walls * Please note that this course is for over 18's only. For an equivalent juniors course please see our NICAS Level 1 courses

We would like to thank the staff for staying open until 3pm and beyond for our Granddaughters Birthday Party Yesterday. Due to the weather conditions (snow), most people couldn’t turn up for their clubs or had cancelled bookings. It was our Granddaughters first big Birthday Party away from home so it really meant a lot to her. She and all her party guests had a great time and had the whole place to themselves. Thank you so much you all went over and above to make sure it was special for her. XxX

Yesterday, we had our son's birthday party. He had a wonderful time climbing, all the children were told exactly what they needed to do and there were members of staff on hand to assist.

We all went into a private room for the food afterwards, the tabled had a lovely colourful cloth with matching plates and cups. There were also balloons.

Thank you very much for a fab party!!

We paid for a session for our daughters birthday and her friends but what blew us away was not only how much fun it is, how inclusive they were enabling her disabled brother to join in. We will definitely be coming back....maybe without the kids so the adults can have fun too! Thank you so much for a fab time.

We love Climbing the Walls! We use the centre both for fun and for children’s clubs.

The staff are just brilliant...very patient and knowledgeable. They have been amazing with my daughter, pushing her to climb higher and better each time!

I would definitely recommend a visit.

Took my son and daughter at the weekend and we loved it! Jake I think it was (northern chap I think) was brilliant, helpful and I think could see we were new to it so kept an eye on us and was at hand. Place is great and was fun - hell of a work out. Would recommend to anyone to have a go

My son with special needs attends a session with you via his school and it’s amazing. He climbs walls that with low muscle tone we never dreamed he’d be able to do. It’s a great place for ALL abilities.

My children (9&12) came today whilst staying with grandparents locally. They had an absolute ball on the action walls. Good price with Easter discount, and great facility! will be back!

Did a lead climbing course a few weeks ago with Andrzej. He was professional, thorough and very informative as well as being easy to get on with. .. If you want to do the lead climb course I would highly recommend it, even if you have lead climbed before, you'd be surprised how much you don't know or have forgotten Excellent value and and a small price to pay for safe climbing. Lovely balcony cafe too where you can chill and enjoy watching the athletes in action.

A fabulous time was had by my 10 year old son, who was part of a cub/scout group. We had the entire place to ourselves.... this may have been due to a certain England football match taking place... but nevertheless, his experience was second to none, and we hope to come back to visit again, shortly. Great. No hanging around or waiting for others to climb/descend.

I took my daughter for a 1 hour climbing session today and thought I could take my son (age 18months) and my niece (age 11 months) upstairs to the cafe to have lunch whilst we watched my daughter have fun. How wrong was I! I've never been to a cafe that doesn't have a high chair, like ever. I'm sure every parent can imagine the nightmare I had trying to feed them. Maybe it would be an idea to invest in a couple to make it more family friendly? I presumed your establishment was aimed at families as the under 5 section is next to the cafe? Other than that my daughter had a fab time climbing, she would definitely give 5 stars.

I go to the centre probably ever other week or so as part of my exercise routine and I love it. £8 plus £3 for shoe hire I feel is a really good price for bouldering considering you can be there as long as you like. I do enjoy the action walls however I feel that sometimes the supervisors don't pay attention to when someone needs their help, therefore wasting time as you can only do those walls for an hour. But overall a great experience and good fun and exercise.

We pre booked for tonight. We arrived well in advance to ensure we could fill in the forms etc but there was already a big party of scout children at the desk with all their parents. There was only one person at the desk dealing with them leaving us waiting and getting lost amoungst this group. More of the group arrived and pushed in front of us to join the others. We waited over 20 minutes without being acknowledged. My husband walked through the group and stood at the desk to try and catch attention of a member of staff but was still not acknowledged. We ended up leaving as my daughter started to become anxious with the amount of people waiting and with us not speaking to anyone the whole time we waited. I would hope that it would of been a good experience if we’d gone another time.
