As I travel to work
In the dark and the cold
It’s likely to snow
... Or so we’ve been told
More important than that
Tomorrow things change
As our firm will merge
It will feel strange
For over a century
We’ve advised on the law
I’m proud of my firm
We all are, I’m sure
We will merge with The Wilkes
Whose offices are near
It’s time to celebrate
Not shed a tear
Together we will trade
Serving the people of Brum
Providing legal services
Which will be second to none
So let’s raise a glass
Despite it being chilly
To the future of our firm
Coley & Tilley!
On 1 February 2019 Coley & Tilley Solicitors will merge with The Wilkes Partnership.
We will continue to offer our legal services to those local to Birmingham and elsewhere.
Our contact details will be updated on our websites and social media platforms.
For now, feel free to contact us on 0121 643 5531 is you have any legal queries which you would like to discuss.
AND FINALLY...
It should not be thought of as silly,
The announcement from Coley &Tilley:
“With the Wilkes, we shall merge!”
No impetuous urge
But a mutual gilding the lily.

Andrew Piddock, Consultant in our Wills & Probate Department, became a proud grandfather on 28 August 2018, when his daughter, Jessica, gave birth to little Lucas. Lucas' father is Jessica's partner, Ben.
Andrew’s father, great grandpa, celebrated his 102nd birthday on the very date when Lucas was born!
Badger is the family cat (no photographs I'm afraid) and has got used to his tail being pulled!
... In the photographs are baby Lucas, great grandpa, grandfather Andrew, grandmother Liz, mum and uncle Geoffrey.
Congratulations to the Piddock family on your beautiful new addition.

As with everyone in the UK, we begin the year with uncertainty wondering whether we will leave the European Union on 29 March and if so what the consequences will be.
Notwithstanding the political reforms, we continue to offer our legal services to all, whether or not you are an individual or a company or you live or are based locally or elsewhere.
There are major changes due to personal injury law. A final date when there reforms will be implemented is yet to be set. No dou...bt the delays to these reforms are due to the extra work being carried out by MPs who are dealing with Brexit. Nevertheless, we advise you that if you think you may have a claim for personal injury to contact us now. The reforms are less favourable to clients than the law and procedures currently in place.
Please give us a call to discuss any legal issues which you may have. Please telephone us or visit our website to see the services we offer. https://coleyandtilley.co.uk/
We are happy to talk to you, to offer advice and guide you through.

The office door closes Your work is all done Break out the bubbly It’s time for some fun
... You reflect on the year Where has the time gone? It was great in the summer With the football and sun
You’ve saved up for presents Through twenty eighteen Still not enough though Next month will be lean
Is it the parents or in-laws? Where you’ll spend the big day You lose, keep the peace Let the boss have their way
And then there’s the gifts You worry a bit more Leave it to Santa He’ll know for sure
The party has started It’s a great time of year A few sleeps till Christmas So far, yet so near
The magic begins When the shops finally close Time to track Santa Where is he? Who knows?
We’ve got Kevin the carrot A mince pie and some beer Treats for Santa and his reindeer
So at last we are here It was worth all the stress We send you best wishes For a Happy Xmas
We all wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all at Coley & Tilley Solicitors Birmingham

Please read the below report by APIL (Association of Personal Injury Lawyers)
PI REFORMS APPROVED BY COMMONS
MPs voted to pass the Civil Liability Bill during its remaining stages in the House of Commons last week. ... The Bill passed unamended, despite attempts by Labour to restrict an increase in the small claims limit and remove the whiplash tariffs. Lobbying in support of Labour’s amendments happened right up to the eleventh hour, with APIL members sending tweets and emails to MPs. More than 100 tweets were sent to parliamentarians in the 24 hours ahead of the debate. These tweets and emails accompanied the association’s own targeted lobbying. Labour MP Andy Slaughter was among those to speak in support of the small claims limit amendments. Andy quoted APIL’s political briefing, and told MPs that “claims under £5,000 are not minor…” and the proposed increase is a “disproportionate response to the stated aim of dealing with whiplash claims”. The political briefing can be read here. The amendments were opposed by the Government, which won each vote. The votes went as expected, with no Conservative MPs voting against the Government. Before the Bill was passed it was condemned by shadow justice secretary Richard Burgon as “another attack by the Government on our justice system and on the vulnerable”. The Bill now returns to the House of Lords, where peers will have to approve the changes made to the Bill by the Government. At the time of writing a date for this has not been announced. See the News section for APIL president Brett Dixon’s reaction.
