Went for a meal and felt obliged to give a review (although no one asked me to). The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Well done everyone you've changed my opinion of this pub �

Visited on the evening of Friday 20th April with a group of friends. Had a warm welcome, excellent table service and fab food. The whole evening was lovely and so I couldn't wait to take my family. So last night on Thursday 26th April we arrived to another warm welcome and were seated at our table. My husband admired the new decor and commented on how different it looked to before when it was known as Lakeside. My 3 sons picked what they wanted to eat and were pleasantly surprised when our waiter Hayden bought them plates of veggies and a dip to try. We ordered our food and waited. Our drinks arrived and then our food. Unfortunately, my husband's meal was not to his satisfaction - he ordered the cauliflower tart with mash, seasonal veg and gravy. The mash potato was very rubbery like it had been microwaved and the cauliflower tart was burnt on top with rubbery pastry and filling. Our waiter Hayden could not apologise enough and said he would speak to chef and take the price of the meal off our final bill. It was a shame as the rest of our meals were very nice but a shame that my husband missed out.

Today I went to the Cookhouse and Pub for my lunch and all I can say is WOW! I am overjoyed with the service I received by all members of staff there. They were all very friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious and loads of choices for vegetarians like myself which initially drew my attention to there. Also, the atmosphere is great and it is decorated modern and bright. I hate walking in somewhere for a meal and sitting in the dark, whereas here, i was lovely bright and comfortable. I would strongly recommend the Cookhouse and Pub to anyone especially Vegetarians and Vegans! Thank you very much for a lovely afternoon!!

Had a great time celebrating a friends birthday, staff were welcoming and very friendly. Our waiter Jordan coukdnt do enough and treated us all like we were old friends. Will definatly be going back.

Cookhouse & pub is a lovely premises the decor is very smart and completely different to any pub in the surrounding area!! We had a lovely meal here our server Michelle was very attentive even though our guests were very demanding !! Food was lovely and the price was very decent !! Would love to come back !! We will be back soon !!

Came here for my brother in laws leaving meal and for the first time since it was Brewers Fayre. Lovely decor, nice food and lovely staff, very attentive and went above and beyond, Hayden was especially fantastic, he is so polite and friendly and had brilliant customer service skills, which are hard to come by these days! Will definitely return!

A group of 16 of us went for food on Friday and service was great. Big thank you to Chelsea our waitress who made our time there lovely she is great at her job! Would definitely recommend.

5 of us Had a meal here 4th feb very nice in side friendly and helpful staff food was great the toed in the hole needed more gravy but apart from that it was great I like the lay out nice private areas

Have been a few times each time except.last visit has been fine helpful and pleasant staff food good and hot alas the last visit a lunch time at 12 noon so not busy we waited a considerable time for our food when served was luke warm served on cold plates sent meal back it was returned exactly the same such a pity the service seems to be deteriating and most of the meals are served lukewarm warm or cold the managers need to get all these points sorted if the restaurant is to be a success otherwise money on refurbishment wasted

Went yesterday with my family to celebrate my birthday. This was our 4th visit in a month and can say that this was the worst one. We ordered 5 adult roasts and a child's one. it took 3 quarters of an hour for our food to be served to us, we only got it then cos I went to find out where it was.

on a previous visit there were 14 of us who ordered different meals and they were brought out within 15 minutes.

Don't know what went wrong yesterday. The waitress was also quite rude and not once did she apologise for the delay but was quick enough to clear the table even though my granddaughter hasn't finished.

We have been a few times but the wait for food is always so long! We went Saturday night and had to wait an hour for food which wasn't that hot when it did arrive. With a baby and a 7 year old wasn't ideal. Service and staff are lovely though, can't fauly them just need to work on their speed!

Steak returned as it was cold.

3 puddings delivered then a 10 min gap for the remaining 5.

No utensils for one child’s pudding.

Food and service was excellent just after the refurbishment. Please do not let your standards slip now! Have you refurbed the restaurant to have more covers than the kitchen can cope with? I do hope not!

Inadequate amount of outdoor seating ,went for a drink in the sun , only about 15 chairs outside ... there used to be lovely big wooden bench seating at this pub now replaced with uncomfortable looking metal chairs and not many of them at that ,we won’t be venturing back there on a nice day .

Went for a meal at this pub as it has been recently done out and looked nice.



when we arrived there was a 20 minute wait which is fine as it usually means it’s busy which is usually a good sign so ordered drinks and chatted .



Looked at the menu and found there was only three starter options and none really appealed so Ordered meals, upgraded mixed grill and smoked mixed grill, meals arrived after at least 20 minutes,meals looked good, I had to ask about the peppercorn sauce that should have been with it, I found the upgraded steak really chewy and rubbery it was like trying to eat a leather flip flop, to be fair my steak would have served a better purpose as a leather flip flop ! I did consider asking for a doggy bag for the steak and give it my Labrador who usually can devour anything but I think she would have struggled !

“Stevie wonder” could get this right



Ordered deserts sticky toffee pudding which was quite small and a sort of shot glass size jug of custard, I’m not sure about the “sticky” part as I couldn’t find it but it seemed a touch burnt so a sort of custard burnt sponge



Overall a bit poor regards food but the staff were pleasant and helpful I think if the quality of the food cuts were better it would have been fine hopefully they take this onboard and improve in this area

Went for a meal Friday 26th jan, ordered chicken burger for my daughter for it to be served still cluckin! I had to catch it to send back! Was also told the lamb shank would melt in my mouth..it wouldnt have melted wedged between vanessa feltz buttocks! Having told the waitress of both instances she pulled a face as if to say..are you sure? Am I f#@%*ng sure?!! After all this..it cost us £76 pound with no refunds even though my daughter had to eat her meal after we had finished! Had a flat pint delivered to the table to be told its probably been sitting on the bar for a while..F#$@%ng pour it again then!

Visited for lunch today 2nd April, 4 of us all ordered the slow cooked lamb shank Rogan josh which was on the special list, it was awful, one had to be sent back as it looked uncooked only to be told they buy them in already cooked ?? So couldn't be uncooked , it tasted microwaved it was all very poor, naan breads were hard and couldnt eat them, we told them it really didn't taste nice, and had puddings free which were ok. I wanted to point out they didn't taste nice to avoid customers in the future having to be subjected to this cheap nasty crap not really to get money back. Dont think we will go there again which is a shame cause it looks really nice inside.

The food was vile .. the tapas was nasty .. wouldn't come here again . The pictures of the food looks incrediable but the end product wasn't nice even my child didn't finish her food. I am one for standard pub food but this place is a joke! The sausage and mash was seasonless and the pork sausages were still oinking

Asked for a medium steak got rare sent back still rare .. normally I wouldn’t mind but being pregnant not meant to eat rare steak, chips cold no onion rings so give me something that looked like garlic bread. Added extra mushrooms as did not come with meal .. By 3rd attempt I gave up asked for money back and sent meal back I ate the mushrooms whilst my Mam ate her cold Sunday dinner ( she actually had to pay for extra gravy ) which she did not get!!! Or the pigs in blankets !!

I was given the bill .. they’d charged me for the mushrooms. Staff actually laughed at us . Apart from one member of staff he was really apologetic.. won’t be returning
