We went for afternoon tea, the service was spot on, the food was delicious and the whole experience was excellent, we'll definitely be going back, hopefully next time for dinner and a night in the hotel ÔŅĹ

User

We took my mum who's in her 80's for afternoon tea , we had a lovely time, it is quite dark when you go through the main part of the hotel , but the conservatory is lovely . A nice way to spend an afternoon for a special treat and the food was excellent, we couldn't manage everything between four of us so we came back with a box of uneaten treats.

User

We had a wonderful overnight stay in the William Winde suite at Coombe Abbey. The room was stunning with luxurious decor and a winding staircase up to a freestanding bath and large shower with robes and slippers available to use. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The room had complimentary water, a range of tea and coffee making facilities, and a miniature bottle of baileys left for us when our bed was turned down for the night. We ate in the garden room on the evening and the a la carte menu was delicious and the surroundings just beautiful. Our breakfast, again in the garden room, was fresh with a wide range of continental or full English options. Throughout our stay all of the staff that we met were very professional and very attentive, whilst ensuring we had a relaxed and comfortable stay. Whilst the damp weather meant we couldn't fully enjoy the grounds of this lovely hotel, we had lovely views of the park from our room.

I would thoroughly recommend a stay in this hotel which is a stunning building and full of character.

User

We had a surprise baby shower here at the weekend. Amazing service, afternoon tea was to die for & they catered for the children & people with other needs. Nicole our waitress was lovely and really helped to make the day special by running around after all of us, nothing was a problem. Thank you Coombe for an amazing afternoon ÔŅĹÔŅĹ

User

We had a one night stay here and cannot praise it enough! The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special, the staff are all friendly- did not meet one unhappy staff member. The hotel and grounds are stunning, as was our beautiful room and view! Very clean everywhere you go. They had a piano player in the court yard, and the food was some of the best we’ve ever had! What a gem hidden on the outskirts of Coventry! We will certainly be back again and again!

User

The hotel is beautiful outside and magical within. Stone archways and Tudor features complimented by a garden room with plenty of light. We happened upon a small marquee housing 'Harry's bar' serving Bellinis and different G @ T's on the lawn and sat in the sunshine sipping our drinks. The bedroom was opulent and the bed comfortable. We would love to return.

User

My partner and I have just returned from an overnight stay in the Lindley Suite and had a fabulous time. When we arrived the room wasn‚Äôt quite ready and we were given complimentary drinks at the bar while we waited. The bedroom was fabulous, really comfortable but as the weather was so hot we asked for a fan which was duly delivered. The ‚Äėlounge‚Äô area of our suite was very large and quite dark and you could imagine this area being haunted ūüĎĽūüĎĽ but we didn‚Äôt see or hear anything (apart from the creaking floorboards).

We had dinner at the hotel which was really nice and there was a fabulous Indian wedding taking place and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the traditional outfits. Drinks were really good but maybe they could have had more staff to serve as it was really busy.

We had a great nights sleep (after I had firmly closed the door to the lounge area) and a really nice breakfast in the morning. To sum up the service was great, the staff really helpful, the views and the gardens superb - the only thing missing, it would have been nice to have a small fridge in the room otherwise it was perfect.

I would definitely recommend staying here - it certainly is ‚Äėno ordinary hotel‚Äô ūüĎćūüĎć

My partner booked for us to come stay for our 1 year anniversary and it was the perfect place, so relax, lovely food, staff and ground, the room where amazing and the bed where so big and comfy we will defiantly be coming back

User

My husband and I were treated to afternoon tea by our son and his girlfriend. We had an amazing experience, the staff were very attentive and polite, without being overbearing, the food was excellent, especially the salmon sandwich which I asked for extra, and was served with a smile. We walked around the manicured grounds , which were an absolute delight. All in all a first class experience and one we will be taking again very soon.

User

My daughter was treating me to a late Mothers day Afternoon tea ....the place is beautiful ...gorgeous inside ...ive lived in Coventry all my life and have never seen inside the hotel ...The afternoon tea was lovely ...presented nicely ....and staff were lovely very attentive ...( personal choice only ) I felt it hravy on the sweet option and couldnt manage it ...only a suggestion for those who havent such a sweet tooth ...maybe and added option of a few savouries ..cheese ...to balance it out ....kids at home loved the extra special treats we took home though ...lovely experience .

User

My best friends surprised me with a baby shower here last weekend and it was amazing. Such a beautiful setting. The afternoon tea was fabulous, service was great and nothing was too much trouble - even when catering for and looking after around 25 of us at the same time! Would highly recommend private events here. Thank you!

User

Came for our 5th stay last night (No ordinary Sunday) this time for my husbands birthday treat. We began our stay with afternoon tea, I had the sparkling abbots with a glass of prosecco and my husband had the knights tea with a glass of coombe Ale. The food was absolutely delicious, in particular the bun n roll croque Monsieur was a huge hit with my husband!! The young man that served us very attentive making sure we had everything we needed, bringing us extra sandwiches and topping up our drinks, which made for a wonderful afternoon followed by a lovely walk around the grounds.

On going up to our room (which unfortunately wasn't upgraded to a feature bed chamber as we hoped) the room was nice and clean and the bed comfy. We did have a bit of a shock trying to run the bath when we couldn't get the shower not to come on at the same time which soaked both us and the bathroom floor but luckily saw the funny side of it!

We dined in the garden room for dinner from the A la carte menu and the food was sublime!! The scallop starter and the pork ribeye main were absolutely out of this world! And both the rhubarb dessert and the dark chocolate torte were to die for!! Staff again were so good, a credit to the abbey!

After this we sampled a few cocktails from the menu and relaxed in the comfy atmosphere of the bar area before going up to bed.

Breakfast this morning was as usual perfect! A fantastic selection of food and drinks that tasted amazing in particular the pastries and selection of food available for the hot buffet breakfast.

We were sad to leave this morning but will definitely be back again soon! Maybe another medieval banquet as the last one was a brilliant evening of entertainment and I'm sure our friends would love to join us!!

User

Beautiful hotel, lovely staff made it magical for us.

We stayed in the Capability Brown suite.

My partner proposed by the lake in the evening, which was specially arranged with candles and champagne brought out right on que.

Room was stunning with huge 4 poster bed and spiral staircase up to a feature claw footed bath.

Highly recommended "special" hotel for a romantic relaxing break.

User

As always, excellent food and service, this time stayed in the Chinoiserie Room. Lovely period features and beautiful roll top bath. If I had a negative comment would just say the room would benefit from some extra lighting for dressing and grooming, or perhaps better lighting in the bathroom. Otherwise was all beautifuly done as usual. Will be back again, to try out another of the feature rooms no doubt. Highly recommended

User

Stayed last night. Had a great day till we returned to the room at around 23:00. I'd booked a feature room during the week and was told there would be a wedding but I'd get a room on the opposite side 6the function. No problem. Walked in after our night out, to find we are right over the top of the wedding. Asked for a transfer and was offered a different room, no help to move. Coombe Abbey, if you don't award Manuel, today's duty manager a medal, it's a travesty. We left deciding to go back, an absolute professional.

User

I booked a night at Coombe Abbey for me & the wife for our anniversary. We have been here five or six times over the years and have always enjoyed it. This time we had booked whilst the hotel was extremely busy, and there was a lot of people everywhere you went.

We requested a quiet room, and was gave room 53, which I'm sure had a family of elephants above us, as the noise was horrendous. We complained about the noise at the desk, but were told they couldn't move us, due to all rooms being taken.

We went for our evening meals, the service was pretty slow (it was very busy so we were ok with this) but we had a group on the table next to us, which didn't understand the principal of being sociable, they were extremely loud and we and many others were fed up of hearing them. We left our meals and didn't bother with the desserts, we decided we would rather leave. The manager was very good and understanding, and gave us a full refund. I would 100% go back, but at a quieter period say around November time.

User

Booked in for afternoon tea and was a bit disappointed really food nice enough but tables to close together and quite a dark area. It was paper napkins had to ask for milk for the tea, no sugar tongues for the sugar so everyone diving in with their hands. They do bring more sandwiches and tea if you ask. Staff not easy to understand as English not brilliant. The ladies toilets are also quite away on the first floor and although clean and presented nicely it’s very dark, and mirrors are only suitable if your tall. Saying that it’s obviously an old building so not going to be modern and bright. Kilworth House is a much nicer experience.

User

Beautiful venue and very welcoming staff. Arrived for afternoon tea with my mother and 8 year old daughter to celebrate the end of my mother's chemo. Was welcomed by Pasang who was a great hostess and very helpful. We were served by a young man called Francisco who unfortunately was neither friendly or helpful. The venue accommodated my mother's lactose intolerance very well. However when it came to leaving we were charged £25 for a child's afternoon tea. This was neither explained at the time of arriving nor was it of a quantity to warrant £25 charge. We agreed to pay as it was not worth the hassle. Kindly Pasang intervened and offer to only charge £20. Sadly the whole episode spoilt what was a lovely afternoon.

User

I booked a business lunch meeting here nearly 4 weeks ago. I ordered the equivalent of a chicken and bacon club..... I started to eat, and asked the other people what they thought of the ‚Äúfish‚ÄĚ within the wrap, as I thought it was meant to be chicken - they advised that it was chicken ...... my chicken was so raw, that it had the consistency of fish - I honestly can‚Äôt tell describe how bad it was. I was sick for days. I contacted the hotel on email and on Facebook messenger and was told that someone would contact me - this hasn‚Äôt happened yet! I wouldn‚Äôt eat here again, and cancelled taking my son for an over night stay.

I can not believe that a hotel of this apparent standard wouldn’t be interested in the well being and satisfaction of their guests.

My friend recently had his wedding day here, and experienced raw meat and and unhelpful staff throughout the whole stay for his wedding, I‚Äôm truly disappointed to say the least! No doubt this information won‚Äôt go anywhere other than sit on this review page. ÔŅĹ
