Corvedale Folk Club

Happy New Year to all. Our first session of 2020 is this Friday (17th) at The Sun Inn, 8.15pm. Everyone welcome whether you perform, join in or just listen!!

A very Happy Christmas to everyone and best wishes for the New Year. Next session is Fri 17th Jan 2020.

It's our traditional Winter and Christmas songs and Carols session a week tomorrow night. If you don't know any then do come and perform something else!! We are very eclectic and fairly friendly!!☺️ Hope to see you all at The Sun, 8.15pm Friday 20th Dec. Come and start Christmas with a good sing.

One week tonight will probably be Tery's final session with us before he moves to the Isle of Lewis. He has been a great stalwart of the club for several years and I hope that as many of you as possible will join us to give him a rousing send off and wish him bon voyage. An informal theme for the night is Scottish songs and Farewell songs - but this is not compulsory! See you all at The Sun Inn, Corfton from 8.15pm Fri 18th Oct.

The session returns! We resume after our summer break on Friday this week (20th Sept) at the Sun Inn from 8.15pm. Hope you have all had a good summer and are now ready to sing/play/recite/tell stories etc. with renewed vigour. Looking forward to seeing you all on Friday. Newcomers very welcome.

Our final session of the summer is here this week and we will be there too (barring disasters)!! See you all at the Sun Inn, from 8.15pm Friday 10th. A reminder that there is NO session in August, so the next one will be Sep 20th.

The third Friday is round again so our session is this week at The Sun Inn, Corfton at 8.15pm. All welcome. Unfortunately I will not be here this week - have a good time and see you all at the next session in July.

Spring is due to arrive in style this weekend so for those who are going away/entertaining visitors etc, have a good Easter. However, we have our regular Friday session this week so if you are able to come along please do for what is always an entertaining evening, and bring along any guests!! We are at the Sun Inn, Corfton from 8.15pm Friday 19th April.

This Friday (15th March) is our next session. Hopefully the bugs will stay away and I will make it this time! See you all at The Sun around 8.15pm.

A belated Happy New Year to all our readers! Terry has been doing a fine job in sorting out a website which is up and running and now needs information/photos adding so if anyone has any ideas let one of us know. It may help to raise the profile if people can do a search for the website online. In the meantime our first session of the year on the 3rd Friday (18th Jan) is coming up this week - look forward to seeing you all then.

Following your response to my recent letter and the meeting last Thursday I was cheered by the your support and a desire to keep our sessions going. Fridays session will proceed as planned BUT from January we are moving to the THIRD Friday of each month to reduce the clash with Nancy and Andy's session at Churchstoke. Otherwise the venue and timing remain the same. More details at this Fridays session. If you know of people who don't 'do' Facebook please pass the message on. Terry is looking into sorting out a website too which sounds good - again more details Fri. See you there!

Our final session of this year will be on Fri 14th Dec at The Sun from 8.15pm. After the great turn out last time I am looking forward to another good evening with our traditional mix of winter themed songs and carols or anything else you want to perform!!

There will be a meeting next Thursday (6th Dec) at Diddlebury Village Hall from 8.30pm to discuss the future of the club. Anyone with any interest whether current or potential performer or listener is invited to attend and contribute their views. Our November session is this coming Friday (9th) 8.15pm at The Sun Inn. As it is two days before such a significant Remembrance Day I think a few suitable songs/readings would be in order. Look forward to seeing all those who can make it.

Sorry folks I forgot to cancel the ad in the Corvedale News! As announced at last months session there will be a break for August as usual - so NO session in August. We resume again on the second Friday in September (14th).

Well summer really did arrive in spades. If you want to spend a pleasant evening in the shady bar of the Sun then come along on Friday 13th July for a good old sing. Everyone welcome. A reminder that we do not have a session in August, and also (shock, horror!) I will miss a session for the first time in the 61/2 years we've been going as Val and I will be on holiday in September. Volunteer needed to be responsible for September please.
