We are holding a public meeting to update on Coventry Pride 2019 and to introduce our new pastoral services delivery initiative called Coventry LGBT Plus.

Recent research by Stonewall shows that: 55% of LGBT students report having experienced homophobic, biphobic or transphobic bullying 9 out of 10 secondary school teachers say that pupils in their schools have been subject to homophobic bullying. In primary schools, 45% of teachers report homophobic bullying among pupils Almost one in four lesbian, gay and bisexual pupils experience cyberbullying and almost one in ten are bullied by text message.... This week 12-16/11 is anti-bullying week, we have been approached by the friend of a parent whose child is experiencing homophobic bullying their school as part of anti-bullying week is asking pupils to wear odd socks to show that everyone is unique and should be celebrated, many of you who are reading this will have victims of or sadly may still be victims of bullying because you are a part of the LGBT+ community, so lets stand up and show solidarity with LGBT+ bullying victims by sharing a picture of us wearing odd socks to show we respect diversity.

Yana meets on the 4th Saturday, January to November and on the 3rd Saturday in December at the Yard between 11 AM and 1 PM, these meetings are facilitated by trans members of the community in Coventry and are a safe space for the trans community to meet. Contact e-mail yana@coventrypride.org.uk
