Wonderful trip to the venue (again) to see Nick Sharratts Big-Draw. Another wonderful show which myself and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed.

User

Went to see Ugly Chief, it was ok but the band Folkestone Community Swing Band were great..hope to see them sometime soon!!

User

Went to see Gasp last night and it is probably the 5th performance I have seen here in the past 18 months ALL of which have been excellent. The venue is intimate and well run and the selection of acts outstanding.

User

Took my children to the dance workshop for preschoolers this morning. It was really fantastic! The guy who ran it was very engaging and the session was so much fun for the children. Thanks for organising :)

User

Tonights performance was absolutely fantastic well done all involved. Great to see folkestone come together to enjoy it. Our 10 year old daughter loved it.... #patioheatersnexttime

This was my first visit with my 3 year son to the production 'Inside'. All members of staff were friendly and welcoming and the show was incredible. My boy was captivated from beginning to end which is no easy task. Will definitely be seeking out more productions here for us to visit and share. Looking forward to coming back Saturday

The Quarter house has warm has a warm and inviting feel. I went to a writing workshop, and felt it was very well organised, and a fantastic venue. The Quarter house is an asset to Folkestone for many reasons

User

My daughter performed there earlier this year with a company called Fevered Sleep. Everyone was amazing and the show was great! My daughter felt very safe there and even referred to it as her second home.

User

Just had a great show an after show workshop @Quarterhouse_UK opening their new season. Huge thanks to all the wonderful staff for such a great welcome. I'm hugely excited about this new season.

Introduction to the fact I was going to see, Ride the lightning, at the Folkestone Quarterhouse 15 minutes before curtain up, was a slight reality curve and after I made a quick stop at the house bar; picking up on the days discussion about plastic straws, I was ushered into the foyer. Everything begins with an exit, from what appears to have been a packed gig, the two lead characters emerge, flanking one of the spectacular sign interpreters, they then very promptly, politely introduce themselves and you to the plight of the Quarterhouse!

Checking in hand luggage, then slowly spiralling into the venue, entering what feels like an empty dance floor, then gently compelled into a space, where you are the audience at a music gig, with stages on all four sides. Anticipation and uncertainty of where the action comes from next, forces you to look around, increasing your awareness of your position as part of a crowd at this epic final gig.

Full encasement of sound, light and musical talent is achieved with a technical prowess, via the combined sheer energy produced by a choir of signing, singing, swaying ladies and one gentleman, a first class brass wind section, opposite a talented young heavy metal band, all weaved together, rather mosaicly by a mixed up, pop group of Auzzie refugees, that have wound up in Folkestone, headed by such a convincing local, I had to think twice he was not from Sandgate.

Their shared refusal to even loosely accept defeat in the fight for the building's fate, prepared to literally bring the house down on themselves, drives the comic narrative, a story of subtle hope, friendship and musical exploration, exquisitely transporting you into a world of musical protest, at times so compelling it cast doubt into my mind as to the real future of the Quarterhouse. The last thing I remember is a palatable feeling of respite leaving at the front door, when I realised music may very well have saved the Quarterhouse and most certainly in the reality this took me too.

Arrival at what turns out to be a gigantic benefit concert to stop the Quaterhouse's demise, fully signed in the round flanked on all sides by these amazing muzos, was all a whopping piece of just what you need, stars for everyone, that's so many stars I lost count, not only did the show ride the lightning it also juggled with fire!!!

User

Has the Quarterhouse been any more packed?! There were knitters, stitchers, patchworkers and quilters and anyone enthralled by colour packed to the rafters on Saturday 4 August. What a wonderful evening! Kaffe Fassett's talk was fascinating and very well illustrated with clear, colourful slides and at the end, some actual knittings to marvel at. Kaffe was generous with his time answering all the questions at the end before popping upstairs for the book signings. The only downside was the heat - even though there was a little air conditioning evident, we could have done with it being cooler - I know, that's a big ask this summer!

User

Great venue, fantastic and very friendly staff. We went there as a group for a Glam Rock Night and had a fantastic time. Would definitely recommend.

User

Great debate about the 'Folkestone Banksy' last night, exactly the forum for this kind of discussion...and the Gothic bar installation is an amazing improvement to the space!

User

First visit to watch snow mouse with my toddler today. Highly recommended. Thank you!

User

Fantastic to see such innovative & challenging performance art in Folkestone, and free to everyone! What an event. Thanks to everyone involved.

User

Absolutely incredible experience. The dancers were so talented and their stamina incredible. A very immersive experience. Thank you.

User

A really great venue, with lots of diversity in its line-ups, and great potential for a local venue that actually WANTS to put on varied acts.

We saw Frazey Ford and Michelle Stodart recently, both were fantastic, and there's NOWHERE else locally it would appear, willing to take the initiative and bring diverse acts to Folkestone.

Well done everyone at The Quarterhouse, for doing what you do....

User

A great venue and the show was the best for kids I have ever been to. Fantastic!

User

I would like to thank the staff for being so friendly and helpful when we went to see British Lion there on Friday. A special thanks to Colin, who was on the door, a lovely man!
