Just got home from a brilliant stay at Cresswell Towers holiday park and where do I start well as it was our first time staying at a Parkdean resort we didn't know what to expect, we got there late afternoon and after a quick refreshment in the caravan we headed straight out to explore the area we were staying in which was very clean tidy and well maintained. We then came across the entertainment room which when we go to the door the security staff were there to greet you with an open door and were all very friendly. We managed to get through the arcade without spending a lot of money as it is just a nice size. Bar area was clean and tidy and the bar staff were all nice the only bad point I have is the price of the fruit shoots £1.95 each and when you have more than one child who drink constantly it makes it a very expensive night.

The pool was a good size with plenty of activities that you can book for children and every time we went it was never over crowded as they have a colour band system. And last but not least is the entertainment team what a fantastic team they are and seem to be working 24/7 and always have smiles on their faces. They have so many activities throughout the day for children and teenagers to join in and all the events are listed on the wall in the entertainment room which is great so you know in advance what is happening on what days. Our evenings on the park were always made enjoyable by the very entertaining Wacky Wez,Krazy Charlotte, and Silly Steph who put on a great show every night and have left a lasting impression on our children and with all this in mind we would be back tomorrow if we could.

User

Caravan was clean and really nice. Food was decent pub grub. Entertainment was great for families. Staff were ever so helpful and pleasant.

The entertainment team were fab with the kids and came round for chats with the adults. They organised a halloween party which everyone enjoyed. Jamie-lea, Lauren and Day are an asset to Parkdean and made our holiday much more enjoyable.

We had a great time here and hope to return next year.

My family and I recently visited Cresswell Towers. We have never previously experienced this kind of vacation as usually camp but due to the recent weather and a family members health we decided to opt for a more comfortable setting. My experience of the staff is limited as my dealings with Kieran in reception was fantastic, he was very accommodating and polite and I had the pleasure of speaking to him the day before we traveled, so was great to meet him face to face in reception. His explanation of where our van was and the amenities were was very helpful.

The other member of staff we spoke to was Hugh (Security) he aided us in trying to resolve our heating issue later on the night we arrived. My youngest child decided that at 5:50 it was getting up time so on opening the kitchen blind I noticed Hugh on his patrol rounds and waved. He then very kindly knocked and inquired if the issue had been resolved. He was very kind and considerate ensuring that all our party was ok especially having 2 little ones under the age of 3.

One of the reasons for only making this a 4 star is that we went to use the swimming pool. We all thoroughly enjoyed this and felt that the session length was fairly rotated but on getting out of the pool, nature called however the 2 toilets in the swimming pool area were a disgrace. One had no lock on the door so I didn't feel comfortable using the facilities with out some privacy and the other toilet was filled to the brim with unpleasantness of mess. I chose to get dressed quicker and use the facilities back in the van!

User

Just stayed at Easter and it was a lovely little park and an ideal base for visiting alnwick castle amd national trust properties. Swimming pool is small but adequate and staff were friendly and helpful - i nipped to reception to say there was no tin opener and in half an hour someone appeared at the caravan with one. Loved the one way system around the park as helped kids stay safe Would reccomend and visit again

User

Caravan is lovely. Staff on reception are very friendly and helpful. Staff on the bar on the other hand not so helpful. Ordered food which was fine but bit expensive. Bought bottle of wine which tasted awful, took back to the bar and asked if could change for another bottle and was told by lady behind the bar that she couldn't change it because the bottle had been opened. She then asked if I wanted some lemonade to put in it - tried that and still tasted like vinegar. Anyway Rose wine should not be diluted with lemonade should be drunk on it's own! Will not be drinking wine for the rest of the week.

User

We have just stopped here for the easter weekend. We had a lovely time topped off with being upgraded to a caravan closer to the amenities as my dad has parkinsons. Staff were lovely would defo recommend. Couple downsides was the pay as you go wifi dont bother its not very good so slow, bar staff during the day are incrediably slow and in no rush to serve you and finally the toilets in the clubhouse on a night absolutely stiink floor was swimming in pee and rather than fill toilet holders then leave paper on the floor in the pee!

We have just returned from a 4 night stay with our 2 boys. We have always done Haven for our caravan holidays and unfortunately will now continue to go back to Haven as I wasn't impressed with this site. When we first arrived in the caravan the first thing we noticed was the overwhelming nasty smell. I can only describe it as a "doggy" smell. The caravan itself was pretty nice and did seem clean enough so this was a shame as after one night we couldn't handle the smell and had to move which was a pain. The caravan that was offered I am sure was not on par with the original and I am sure was a downgrade however, it was right next down to my family who were also there with their children so as soon as my kids realised this we felt too bad not taking it. So we moved in.

First impressions were it was nice enough and didn't smell however once I started unpacking and looking around it was filthy! I even found someone else's trousers in a drawer which shows how thoroughly it is checked!!!

The radiator in the bathroom was disgusting! It was next to a filthy mop head and toilet brush and I dread to think what the brown marks on it were

I make sure I wash all cutlery, plates, cups etc before use regardless in caravans but after finding dried in food on some in this van it was a certainty

Also the grill didn't work which we reported but nothing was done about it. The fire would cut off after being on for a little while.

Swimming pool was ok but not enough changing rooms.

On a plus...the staff in the arcade, bar, securty etc were nice.

I have given it 3 stars as my kids have returned home happy and having an enjoyable stay...had their cousins not been there however I am not so sure this would have been the case as there really isn't much to do on site.

It is not a site I would return to

User

Just back after a 4 night stay with my family, the only thing good about the park was the caravan, it was in a nice area and clean and modern.

The entertainment area is very dark and dingy and uncleared tables and going by other reviews we were lucky the kids didn’t want to take part in the activities on site.

We had six in our party and decided to go for lunch in the restaurant only to be told that the kitchen wasn’t open as it wasn’t busy enough although there were 8 staff all sitting round a table talking. We had paid good money for this break and decided that we would eat out most days but as they only did food in the evenings we decided to go out with the park. We did inform the manager in the reception about this and he sounded shocked to find out they had closed during the day and said he’d phone restaurant manager but on reading other reviews later this appears to be the norm.

We have done many a holiday with the grandkids and have never had a site like this and we will most definitely not be back, the only thing the site is good for is a base to go site seeing. We always use Haven sites and after being here we will not use Parkdean again.

just got home today after a 4 night stay thought our family would have enjoyed it like we did last year came here for easter paid £259 for absolute rubbish the caravan was lovely and clean however the clubhouse itself ran out of food and drink also no slush bottles for the amount of kids they have there over easter there was very little entertainment for the children this is the third time we have been for easter and dont think we will be returning anytime soon very unhappy with this service

We stayed in 4paws caravan and could not fault that at all very clean and well equipped, however the park itself was a different matter. Bar staff are rude and the new entertainment are very poor, no interaction with kids or anyone really ,they even had to Google some of the party dances on Friday night. We have been coming for years and after last week's experience not sure if we will be returning again!

There's only a couple of things I can't complain about the site. Like the caravan we stayed in dv65, the sites presentation and the distance to the beach. Now the complaints the laundrettes far to small for the site and the dryers don't even dry your clothes and at £2.50 a dry cycle you'd expect to get dry clothes. Also the so called entertainment passes, what a waste of money and over priced. They are supposed to be shown to get into the entertainment building but never stopped once to show them. The only time we had to show them was for the pool, which in the entire week we were there was only open for a general swim 3 times it was closed the rest of the time or general swim cancelled for a activity which wasn't age appropriate for our children or the majority of the children in the 4 families we went with and to top it off you only got 30mins. The night time entertainment was almost identical every night except for one night they had a live duo on. As for the drinks extremely pricey £1.95 for a bloody fruit shoot and £2 odd for a pint of coke, I treated myself to a bottle of desperadoes but only the one as it was £4.30 and warm. This site has gone down hill massively since the first time I went. It should of stayed being ran the way it was and not joined park dean resorts. What a disappointment i don't think we will be going again. Not worth the £700 we paid. Haven or butlins next year.

Had trouble from the get go ! We booked online in January for a holiday in July and we had book a dog friendly ! I phoned just to double check and they told me it WAS not dog friendly 😡😡we had to pay an upgrade fee of £240 as that would be the only caravan they could offer us ! So we payed ....upon arrival we found the caravan was horribly it wasn't an upgrade at all but a downgrade the TV is tiny ( not that we are here to watch it anyway ) and the bedroom had mouldy inside so I went to complain the lady in the office was extremely helpful and couldn't apologise enough she even refunded the upgrade charge ! And offers us another holiday for a discounted price 😂 Oh and the the children's language on the park was absolutely disgusting!!!! My 3 years old we're playing On the park all we herd was language after they had knocked my kids over a number of times !!!!

User

Came in 2016 it was great. Here two years later. Caravan is definitely older than the 2 years they claim it to be. Needs a clean, oven don’t work, hot water keeps turning off. Equipment is substandard, missing cutlery.

So far there have been no activities for children planned. Just the evening entertainment. We had planned to go swimming today, but the pool is closed... There’s an “issue”. The free internet in the Tower Tavern is pretty much non existent. The bar ran out of beer and most of the snacks on Saturday night . And there was no loo roll in the ladies.

The staff are lovely and polite. I believe this is a management issue.

Having worked in youth work, I understand that things don’t always go to plan and so I have always had a plan B and even C. it would not have been difficult for management to have organised a craft or games event in the tavern whilst the pool was sorted etc. We are presently on day 3 of our holiday. We hope things improve!!

User

What an absolute sh*t hole! Got here on Sunday. Thebar had run out of beer, the kitchen had run out of food.. there was an inflatable play area set up for the kids £5 for a wristband for all day play at 15:35 the female in charge took £20 off us for 4 kids then closed the rides at 4pm. When my husband approached her to ask why she hadn’t said it was closing in 25 minutes or offered a discounted price to reflect the limited time left, she told him to go away and proceeded to rant to anyone that would listen about him. Think it’s safe to say I will not be returning or recommending anyone stays here.

User

We stayed in 4paws caravan-I'm sure this would be lovely for most people however we were the unfortunate one in a million that had major electrical problems. Every time I tried to boil the kettle or turn the tv on the electrics tripped. Security came out and reset it but it just kept tripping over and over. I'm After over an hour of having no heat my daughter (age 2) was freezing and crying and her medication was going off in the fridge so I made the decision to pack up and return home after only arriving 4 hours earlier. We had only been there 4 hours. Both the owner and the site staff told me the site had been experiencing electrical problems, and apologised promising I would be reimbursed. Fair enough it's not the owners fault, we were just unlucky I thought. However the next day I was recontacted by the owner who said the electrics had been checked and were working ok (well great but I promise they weren't the day before!) and as I had chosen to leave I would not after all be reimbursed. I was offered only half of my money back which was very disappointing as I'd been more than polite about it, hadn't blamed the owner, and had left due to safety reasons. I couldn't possibly have stayed with a small child and no electricity - meaning no heating hot water or ability to cook food. After I pointed out that I'd been promised a refund the day before I received a 2/3 refund. Fully working I'm sure it would be lovely but if you have problems don't expect to be reimbursed or helped (the owner will only communicate via text and will not answer the phone) Also there is a heater in the living room with a leg missing that very nearly toppled on to my toddler, a blind on the front door that drops off when you close it, and the previous occupants had been smoking leaving a bad smell, and had left their cigarette butts lying under the caravan. Again this isn't the owners fault but I think it would be helpful for others if the blinds and dangerous radiator were fixed. For matters out of both the occupants and owners control such as loss of power, leaking roof, flood etc where it is clearly not safe to stay I feel a full refund should be given if the occupant is less than a third through their holiday. This has been the policy in other places I've stayed.

On the plus side it has a well equipped kitchen, treats and towels for the dogs, and a large living area.

User

Really disappointed. The caravan was, I could say,ok but the entertainment center awful, dirty, no staff, plates and glasses laying around for hours. The tables were sticky.

There was no timetable about the swimming pool. We were getting there at 9 but the stuff didn't let us in as it was adults only. How should we know it???? When I complained to the reception they showed me one. Why should you have a swimming pool timetable at the reception????

My daughter got some tickets from the machines with the pennies and we had to wait until 8pm for someone to come to open the little shop to exchange them for toys, passed her bedtime. And more more. Totally not recommend it

User

Lucky to get 1 star .. Checked in Friday 29th June . caravan 69 .. Absolutely disgusting. Outside of caravan dirty half way up , weeds right up to the door ,Floor was ripped , ceiling coming down due to a leak , cutlery left in a dirty tray on the work top , the smell of mould and damp was over powering and the door didn't lock .. Back to reception food voucher till they sorted something . 1 kids meal 1 starter .. Couldn't even get that right . back to reception was then told that's what we booked caravan wise .... Showed the pictures we had been sent and was not a thing like it .. Wouldn't even let a seagulls live in it .. Finally moved to another park and it was complete opposite ...just wish I had stayed in that caravan.long enough to get a picture !!!

User

Just came back from a week's holiday here and I'm sorry to say but I am very disappointed been using this park a few years now with family and always enjoyed it till this year OK weather wasn't good but that couldn't be helped the entertainment was very poor no party dances for kids staff didn't interact with kids very well the adults entertainment was very disappointing the bar ran out of draught beer Monday night and limited food till Thursday afternoon which I thought was very unacceptable then when we did order food took an hour to get it and the food was disgusting burnt chips burnt lasagne chicken nuggets were dry and hard the salad looked like it was off days ago and the pasta we ordered was swimming in grease so I'm sad to say but think I'll be finding a different holiday park for our next family Easter holiday

User

Just back from here, worst park we have been to in a long time... nothing to do, entertainment at night almost non existent, a bingo game with music and a man singing one night was about it! Staff had no interaction with kids, amusements were rubbish, grabbing machines that you couldn't win a teddy out of your life depended on it shop on site ridiculously overpriced, caravan was basic and had a horrible smell running through it, in desperate need of a deep clean...wouldn't recommend and definitely won't be back.
